Furlanetto is such a fantastic Filippo. I've seen 4 or 5 different producions with him, from the one that made him a true star to more recent ones. It's wonderful to see how the character develops.

-Bryn Terfe has a large body, but his voice is not loud or dark. I think Jose Van Dam would be more appropriate.

Just wondering that, at in the past days, with that technique, Terfel would play the part of sacristano. Somebody maybe diagree, but that is truth.

Back pre-2013 he was really good. His Wotan was questionable but his Royale Opera House Tosca is incredible. His voice really started to decline after he turned 50 and recently its been very barked. Go back and listen to some of his Cardiff recordings, he really was a menace back then.

Opera should transform itself for the Digital , 3D and visual world of holograms and special effects , a complete new visual, feel, emotion , physical , dance and music experience , a blast .

That would only work if new operas are composed in a new way. Basically opera has always been a museum artwork. One of the grest things about it is operas unchanging traditions. It's be that way from the start. Attempts to update old operas usually fail.

Acá en latinoamércia los tenores son más comunes que los barítonos. Al menos en la mayoría de países.

Not all true basses have dark voices! Some of the lowest bass voices have golden timbre - Like, for instance, Kurt Moll, and Hans Sotin - or grey, like Josef Greindl. And, some of the darkest sounding male voices are not basses at all. Listen to Gustav Neidlinger, who sang baritone parts but had a darker timbre than most low basses.

Wie kommst du dazu so etwas zu schreiben? Ludovicas Tezier gehört zu den besten Bariton der Welt!

Yikes, what a wreck Terfel’s voice has become. And Scarpia was always a pure baritone- Scotti, Warren, Merrill, Milnes- until this suddenly common ‘bass-baritone’ fudging started in the Italo-French repertoire. The bass-baritone is a German voice type, Wagner’s ‘Hohe Bass’, e.g., Hans Hotter and George London.
