      So sorry to hear about it.
      We all can learn from our experience of what we should do next time when purchasing this plant again

    What a complicated plant.
    I bought one for my mom from a supermarket, I had no idea it will be this difficult to take care of it lol

    • @TropicalGarden

      Indeed,
      But if you love challenges - this would that ideal plant to grow & cultivate especially if you love to do terrariums.

    Mine is pink and white and the leaves are dry. I bought it that way and I’m just now learning that it shouldn’t be that way. Can I immerse it in water?

    • @TropicalGarden
      @TropicalGarden  Před 7 měsíci

      If its totally dried.. Its dead.
      Do immerse it n see if its generate back to freshness

    omg, i should have watched this before i bought this plant. I got this few weeks ago and true enough, after 3 weeks - suddenly it just flopped and died. There wasn't a name assigned to it in the nursery and the girl just told me moss. So it was hard for me to find out what it was to google info about it. Are u still keeping this after your first batch died? Did you put a glass over them to contain their humidity?

    • @TropicalGarden
      @TropicalGarden  Před rokem

      Its extremely stable inside a terrarium and Im extremely excited to experiment with them in the bottles
      The ones that didn't make it were the ones with the terrarium mouth opened. These like closed set but not open to direct sun

  • @rglife94
    @rglife94 Před rokem +1

    Hi, just watch your video today. Just wonder, is it also works if not in terrarium? for example, I put it in the wet pebble trays. I also just bought it 2 weeks ago, it slowly withered, can it still be turn into green again if I increase the humidity level?

    • @TropicalGarden
      @TropicalGarden  Před rokem

      If its still green n just slightly dry you can revive it but its fully dried off it won't survive
      But if you still have the stem still fresh new leaves might sprout out
      So far based on my experience
      I had countless experiences were the selaginella never thrive in open garden and if they do - its only temporary
      Hence High humidity is the only thing that made the difference in keeping them alive for months

    Came here because my willdenowii has suddenly given up 😢 hoping I can bring it back but it’s looking rough 😅

    • @TropicalGarden
      @TropicalGarden  Před 7 měsíci

      Looking rough as you mean better or getting bad?
      If its looking like going to die.
      Immediately take it out from its medium.
      Wash it and let it soak for few hours.
      Replant it in a perlite in a cup n seal it.
      Most likely the tiny hair roors have rotten n the plant dying.

    • @TropicalGarden
      @TropicalGarden  Před 3 měsíci

      They are indeed fussy plants - it is very difficult to care where the is low humidity

  • @melissajenkins5302

    Could you comment on powdery mildew underneath the leaves? How can they be treated?

    • @TropicalGarden
      @TropicalGarden  Před rokem

      Depending on the plant species and the dosage of fungicide used
      Some plants are sensitive..
      The counter attack can kill the plant
      So do a proper research on this especially the time of fungicide application during the time of the year, season, etc

    I have the long thin species. Uncinata. And I have the same problems. Do you have any tips on those?

    • @TropicalGarden
      @TropicalGarden  Před 7 měsíci +2

      Please indicate how you are growing them.
      Basically they really need very high humidity
      Best chances of growing them well is in the terrarium

      @@TropicalGarden I bought it from Lowe’s and I had it sitting on the stool draped over it in a place that gets decent light. It’s in my store and I have challenges with different plants growing in my store because I have to chase the sunlight and then there are certain areas of the shop thatare drier than others. But I really love the plant. I just can’t keep it alive. It’s the second one I have killed.

    • @TropicalGarden
      @TropicalGarden  Před 7 měsíci +1

      Try using a pebble tray and place it at bottom of the pot.
      You can also get the artificial grow light shining on it.
      It should do the trick

    thanks for sharing mate, btw can we put the Selaginella kraussiana in aquascape?

    • @TropicalGarden
      @TropicalGarden  Před rokem +1

      Yes however there are few conditions that needed to be met.
      - It needs to be exposed to few hours of direct sunlight as this helps the photosynthesis as it kept in a water body
      - a big portion of the rootball needs to be in the original potting medis and the trailing roots can touch and grow as secondary features as immediately transferance can cause shock and burns or rot
