Basically on the same level as, “We will show them the difference between strategy and tactics!” Say something contradictory enough, and the kids and philosophy and ethics majors will eat it up. My hope for the new series is that Dorothea Ernst turns out to be fine and becomes “Z,” an anti-Zero who deduced Lelouch was Zero a long time ago and is as smart as him (so basically an average intelligence in our universe) and joined Bismarck and her sister figure Monica to take Lelouch down, not because of “loyalty,” but because it was the morally right thing to do. Then “Z” uses literally every tactic (or is it a strategy?) that Lelouch did except in a way that actually would have worked to bring down Lelouch’s world and expose Suzaku as a false hero. @@gamerdragon4721 Very true. My obsession with the Ladies of the Round has reached peak “NEEEEEEERRRRRD!!!!!” status. I definitely don’t recommend finishing the series because by season 2 the writers didn’t care how illogical the plot was as long as Lelouch was being exclusively glorified for his edgy philosophies and war crimes. Code MENT is about as good as the writing gets for Code Geass. So later some characters called the Knights of the Round get introduced, who are elite Knightmare Frame pilots who hold more political influence than any other nobles in the empire. You would think the writers would have taken the opportunity to explore some morally gray antagonists who actually had a point in serving beneath the Emperor since they were the only true aristocrats with agency and power and could even disobey orders to flex their own ethics. Instead, they’re all kept infuriatingly one-dimensional no matter how much screen time they get just so Lelouch is glorified and the audience forgets how awful of a person he is. One of these Knights of the Round is Dorothea Ernst, who ended up being a replacement character for the fan-favorite Nonette Enneagram to get murdered by her own comrade Suzaku because apparently killing people who you’ve come to know over the course of a year is supposed to count as “redemption” in the eyes of the evidently sociopathic writers. Monica and Dorothea have received a fervent cult following in recent years because of how absolutely gorgeous their designs are and how sweet Monica’s personality was from the moment of her first appearance. Also, poor Gino and Anya. All that screen time and they might as well have been background characters. Oh, and the series rips off Evangelion for the second time in a row in Taniguchi’s career. THAT’S how lazy the writing gets.

i love how he barely abridged this scene because the actual scene is literally just this absurd
Yet it speaks to the quality of writing that it still is completely in character and a viable solution.

It's better when you consider the fact that his English Voice Actor also voiced Yu Narukami and Adachi.
Even years later this makes me smile.
I think I heard an article with something like "North Korea sentences anyone who commits suicide with death" and it reminds me of this.
"Look, all I'm saying is that I want to see if Personas exist and I'm willing to die for my research."
They had the perfect moment to go "Persona!" and didn't take it..
