    Thanks for this. So much been built over this trackbed. This is a branch that would be very well used if it were still around today. 😢

    Thanks very much for the time and research that went into this video , it was fantastic to watch . I used to catch the Brockholes to Penistone train from 1978 to 1980 after I had finished school at Holmfirth High . It's such a shame these lines have been close down as their would be so much use for them today .

    Weird how it got demolished then the worlds longest running sitcom was shot. Imagine all the tourists and income missed

      Good call there . If you look at the Worth Valley railway line it's still going strong even just for tourists .

    The viaduct at Thongsbridge was so hard to demolish, they damaged most of the windows on Woodlands estate trying to blow it up they were hard to shut. I know cos I lived there in the 1980s. Keep up the good work👍🏻

    Good work here and great that you included Brockholes station properly as part of it.
    I was reconnoitering the line route during Christmas with scope to making a video for my own channel sometime this year

    Is the poster at 5:02 a genuine period piece? If so, it explains a lot...."Last of the Summer Wine" was all set and filmed in Holmfirth. That must be where the name comes from!!! I live at Dunford Bridge, four miles from Holmfirth, at the Eastern end of the Woodhead tunnels in terraces built of blue engineering brick by the GCR in 1901 for the workers at the newly expanded Dunford Bridge station. I also know the people who live in the old Holmfirth station house! Yes they are really posh🤣

      Haha not sure about the poster think it was the front cover of something 😎! Aww brilliant I’ve done a video on the Woodhead side of the tunnels
      I’m looking to hopefully do the full route of the Manchester to Sheffield line 😎😎!

    Good video. Pity that you missed the section through Berry Bank wood. One can walk on the old track bed there. First time I have seen the photo of the Dmu branch line tour post official closure.

      Oh ! I was looking for that section but it looked like it was overgrown ! I’m gutted I’ve missed it ! I’ll have to just have a wander and have a walk on it !

    • @darleytransportandtravel6353
      @darleytransportandtravel6353 Před 2 lety +1

      Yes. Walk up Berry Bank Lane off Miry Lane and you will see the remains of a road over bridge. You can easily walk from there almost to Holmfirth station.
