    Not much pushing against the Keir biography - seems alot more like an advert and campaign for making him more human. His actions aren't exactly speaking well of a man with his humanity in tact. Wish there was more journalism involved

      I mean seriously - Usually this podcast has really interesting interviews, often surprisingly gripping, both informative and funny in equal measure... but listening to two people try desparately to make starmer interesting and appealing is possibly even more dull than he is.

    27:15 “ it’s professional opposition, he says he hasn’t done anything yet” Actually, Paster and I have done quite a lot. He has voted for some of the most egregious and restrictive legislation in the history about Parliament, restricting the rights and freedoms of citizens when he could’ve challenged this as leader of the opposition. Much of this was sneaked through during covid lockdowns i’ve got example of the bill which allows 15 government agencies to commit any crime whatsoever. As long as they are acting covertly and undercover. This includes the environment, agency, HMRC and other benign government departments. Why would these departments need the power to commit burglary, false imprisonment, murder, rape torture, and any other crime without the scrutiny and process of the law? Here’s the act that would have failed without starters support . ….. Covert Human Intelligence Sources (Criminal Conduct) Bill 2019-21

      Agreed. She has great energy & enthusiasm, but I am not quite onboard with her interviewing techniques on the pod though.
      I am probably in the minority, but I feel like she expounds too often on her top-of-mind agenda rather than giving the interviewee a chance to elaborate on the subject matter for which they appear. I think her fantastic investigative tenacity as a journalist simply overpowers her ability to yield the conversational momentum to the person being interviewed.
      Regardless, she is doing a bang up job. Love the pod, and cheers to Liz, Coco (in absentia,) Nish, and the whole of the Crooked team at PStUK!

      @LeafHuntress Před 2 měsíci

      auto(self)bio(life)graphy(write)
      an autobiography =/= an biography
      only the when the subject of the book is also the writer you can call it an autobiography
      but anyone can write a biography, for example;
      "boris johnson skipped COBRA meetings because he claimed to be writing a Churchill biography."

      Real shame because I used to love this podcast.

    • @calbob9104
      @calbob9104 Před 6 měsíci +1

      @@Sophiex2024 it's an interview with a guy who wrote a biography on Starmer. It's not an authorised biography, and I personally don't think it was "ass kissing". This podcast is far from a Labour propaganda channel, considering the wide range of guests they've had on. It seems any remotely positive thing said about Starmer or Labour gets labelled propaganda these days.

    • @Sophiex2024
      @Sophiex2024 Před 6 měsíci +1

      @@calbob9104 I'm well aware of the podcast as I said originally I've watched a lot of it and liked it. They have had guests on that I've disagreed with and still enjoyed and appreciated the discussion. In fact in many ways I would like them to have more political variety.
      But there is a difference between a genuine discussion and promoting Starmer at all costs. From last weeks episode and the clips I've seen of this on instagram it comes across like a campaign ad not a podcast. The biographer seems to be going completely unchallenged as he talks about what a great man Starmer is. Again, this is just from a few clips which is why I was asking. I would genuinely like to watch more things with nuance about how to vote at the next election because I'm still torn, I'm not just objecting to any positives about Starmer. But I don't wanna watch an hour of content glorifying him and demeaning any criticism.

    • @calbob9104
      @calbob9104 Před 6 měsíci +1

      @@Sophiex2024 I get that and I'm sorry, I probably came across as angry and antagonistic. I've been letting internet politics get to me a bit to much. I've seen a lot of people simply swapping one form of propaganda for another lately, and it's depressing. I think it's important to remember most people posting clips to Instagram probably do so with an agenda of their own.
