Thanks for the video, sig mags are more expensive forty to fifty, Kimber around twenty five I believe also you were comparing a more expensive sig to a base model Kimber. I don't think Kimber copied Sig but both copied Colt.

Needing a warranty on a gun after a year or less would confirm I bought the wrong lemon. Sig like other manufacturers including Kimber are resistant to warranty work and more often than not claim they could not find a problem. Thank goodness, most American guns just go bang every single time. If you do a comparison test then use an Apple to Apple. The Sig was an up line model. I do not like the trigger guard shape on the Sig. BUT, I really have not meet an American gun that I would kick out of bed or the house or the vehicle.

I went with the Kimber because at the time I did not have the extra $100 for the SIG. Now after spending more then that on ammo trying to narrow down the problems and 2 trips to the factory, I feel like I should have just saved up a little longer for the SIG. It sucks when you pay allot of money for something and it doesn't work, but its also understandable. To have to send something back you may have to depend your life on one day twice for the same issues then you lose any future business. I am sure they won't lose any sleep over it, but if your like me and this is an expensive purchase, then I suggest you do your research before hand.

I also preferred the more 1911esque appearance of the Kimber, but none of the Micro 9s at my local dealer had ambi safeties, while all the P938s did, so, the combination of the safety, night sights, and frame checkering, not to mention the cheaper price, swayed me to the SIG.

I carry the kimber and have had the sig before.... just curious on why you would test the absolute low end kimber against the high end sig. not really an even playing field. if you are going to test the $750 sig shouldn't you test it against one of the higher end kimbers like the $750 kimber nightfall? just seems to me that you should compare apples to apples, either both base models or both high end models. I would be interested to see what would win out on a test like that..... good video though, all and all.

Joe Stallings well, the only big difference between the 699$ SASP938 and the 500$ 938 is the stainless top and the walnut grips. The 500$ 938 still has the front grip serrations, night sights, and everything that makes the 938 great. I think the high end Kimber still doesn’t have grip serrations besides maybe the raptor

I know this is a 2 year old video, but I’ll post my comment anyway. I bought my Micro 9 a bit over 2 years ago. I like to see what others’ opinions are on a variety of firearms, and every now and then it helps me decide what I want to buy, though I still buy what I buy for my own reasons. That said, I’m having a hearty chuckle at most of the comments. One post says shoot 124gr and up. My Micro 9 eats everything. In fact, I ran myself really low on 95gr JHP that I’d originally purchased to load for my various 380s. I haven’t found anything my Micro 9 won’t shoot. Vast majority are self loads...it did take just over 2 boxes of 115gr factory RN before I could shoot my own ammo. Now, I can’t even recall the last time I had an issue with this pistol, my daily carry. As another posts says, I bought mine with the Rosewood Crimson Trace grips. Can’t relate to any comments about loss of grip, or slickness. When I put it in my hand it isn’t going anywhere. As far as the Crimson Trace grips...they’re nice, they were on the pistol when purchased, but I like the iron sights better. I find the laser a distraction, so it’s always (almost always) off. Anyway, thanks for the video. Well done.

For me Kimber has more refined shape; more rounded edges than Sig. I had problem with my Kimber; after maybe 40 rounds I had misfire, no marks on the primer. I had to manipulate firing pin and firing pin block to make it working. At home I used small screwdriver and I was able to push firing pin fully without puling the trigger. I cleaned the firing pin channel and all is good now. I will see if it repeats itself. I had no problem with 938

I carry a Sig P238 .380 however I bought my son a Kimber raptor in 9mm for Christmas. I haven’t shot the Kimber because it is a gift, but I like the raptor a little better than the Kimber. It does have front strap serrations. It also has an aluminum trigger and aluminum mainspring housing which my Sig .380 and I believe also the P938 both have plastic trigger and plastic mainspring housing. Which I absolutely HATE on a 1911 clone I’m paying $600 or more OTD for! Other than that I like the Sig. I just wish they had went aluminum. It’s kinda like buying a new vehicle that has plastic wheel covers rather than aluminum wheels...

      @silverhorder1969 Před 5 lety +1

Well maybe the 938’s are metal but I can tell you for sure the 238’s are plastic. I even came across a video on YT that showed the installation of an aluminum trigger in a Sig 238. It also told where to order it from. Even Sig’s all stainless 238 has a plastic trigger and mainspring housing! Which even Colt now puts plastic mainspring housings in their 1911’s now. I have a Colt I bought 7 years ago and i replaced it with a $39.00 stainless checkered one myself. However the Sig 238 is more difficult to disassemb. I’ll just buy a Kimber next time.

You may be right? I’ve never owned a Kimber and I was always hesitant to buy one because of the problems of their 1911’s when they first came out years ago. All I ever heard of was problems out of them! However over the last 10 years or so I’ve seen their guns have become much better and the videos I’ve seen seem to be much better. This Kimber Raptor is very well built. There is absolutely no wiggle at all between the slide and frame! My Sig has all kinds of wiggle but it functions fine.

Lots of failure to feed issues. The guy at the range suggested to move up to 124 g ammo and no problems since. In fact I was so impressed with the Kimber Micro 9 I bought the Sig P938 SAS for myself. The Sig was about $100 more out the door. Nothing personal but I'm a Sig fan boy. P.S. It shoots any grain 9mm ammo with no problems. LMAO. I think Sig makes a better Semi-custom pistol. Sig and Kimber both have a base model, and only one model, with no serrations on the front strap. Kimber has a number of other versions with serrated front strap, and different style grips, as well as two that come with hogue grips. Sig does as well. Both seem similarly priced depending on the options you want.

If both BASE models were compared, the only difference would be the ambi-safety for the 938. You can get BOTH with; nights sights, front checkering, abbi-safety, ect. And the Kimber would be less $, may even be low enough to ALMOST buy CT laser grips or one that comes with them.
I don't like when reviewers don't compare "apples to apples" then complain that this one doesn't have something but this one does, when if (especially in this case) the Kimber would have had front checkering and the night sights and still been less than the 938. Then the only advantage would've been the ambi-safety.

I suspect mags for SIG P938, Kimber Micro 9, and/or Springfield 911/9 are made by Check-Mate Industries. I have s connection with them, and am working on getting them to sell the mags under their own label, now that there are three guns using that mag. I really dislike the design of the basepad/pinky rest on the 7rd SIG mag, and hopefully Check-Mate can come up with something more likely to stay in place. Maybe a better, cheaper mag will be available before too long.

As far as beauty, those are the two prettiest compact 9's on the market, so that's a tough call. Walther PPK is next, as far as .380.

If the Kimber had a Hogue grip on it, how would you compare them?

  • @Joel-ho8xx

938 mags fit the kimber, by modifying the plastic mag base. It gives the same positive grip as the sig.

If i could have gotten the sig for 550 locally, i would have gotten it over hte Kimber. however, all the shops in my 75mile radius area were pushing 800, while the Kimber was actually 550.
the first 300 rounds i had about 4 missfeeds, but since then, running perfectly.

Ethan G well Street value for them around here are 550-600, and the kimbers are about 400$. I think the sigs are worth the extra money for sure. I just didn’t like the micro because of the lack of serrations on the grip

Whenever I'm pricing Kimber Micro 9's, I see a $1000+ price. What are the real differences between a cheap Micro 9 and a $1000+ model that would justify that price? Just curious.

I paid $350 used for 1 locally. All black finish. Polished barrel. Standard sights. Rubber grips. The deals are out there. I think it was the old blacked out model bedfore they released the "nightfall" which normally goes for $800 round my way...
