I went to a technician at the mall to have my zx's battery replaced. He watched this video and followed your advice to not "open the screen if it's your first time". He didn't open it since he's afraid.
What an astonishing piece of engineering by Sony. I don't care if my phone is 2-3mm thicker than the competitors if it is well designed and engineered.
I still have a xz premium (released April 2017),still runs fine after 3 years. Sony could've done more with these phones buy they're pretty good. Ridiculously durable, it's been (accidentally) thrown around my kitchen a few times and dropped on tiles. Only ever needed a charging port replacement last year, battery lasts all day and charges in 1.5hrs
@@DollinhonJew im currently using xz for about 4 years, as far as durability goes the phone is rock solid, never had to replace any parts, but as far as software goes, the phone did start to lag a lot, and especially at low batteries and when it got heated up (which started to happen quite often), and just recently i had to replace the battery, other than that, its totally a good phone.
@@DollinhonJew using xz for around 3 years, its solid phone realy but mine has dead battery now. Ordered replacement and going to replace battery. Also screen if flickering when at 100% brightness. And while phone is not connected to charger, it is noticeabely solwer than when connected to charger. Its solid allrounder but not so good as my first sony, the sony xperia z which battery is still going strong after 7 years even after i accidentaly cycled over the phone, shattering its screen.
No all phones. Need to be taken. Apart. Including Apple but Apple won't let you fix your phone. Just goes to show that the best phone. Is not the best when you can't. Fix it if I ever. Get the new experia 1 ile be buying replacement parts for it lol like screens. Battery. I might get a portable. Battery pack sony eats up a lot of juice for gaming. And such.
Thanks for this dude, it's really interesting to see how premium phones are manufactured and the little tidbits that go into each slot. Thumbs up for that easy screen replacement.
I've received an old one of these from family and I'm tempted to upgrade from my iphone 5 but didn't know if to trust the repairability of a newer device. Thanks for the excellent summary.
Cool! I have an XZ Premium that is fine except for the charging port being a bit loose and having a dodgy pin. Which I guess is quite major because the cable has to be inserted, then very, very carefully moved around until all pins get contact before it will charge. Once in the optimal position, it has to be left in that spot lest the plug lose contact and stop charging. I have a replacement though. Not a Sony. My daughter bought me an OPPO A53s which is a very good phone considering the price. I was advised by a repairer here in Australia that it would be "very expensive" to repair it. However, knowing enough about phone dismantling to be dangerous to myself and others, as well as having a sometimes problematic curiosity, I think I might source a replacement charging port and have a crack at fixing it. The worst I can do is break it.
is there a way to make the phone water resistant again after disassembling it? or even increasing the water resistance? (maybe coat the internals with something like dielectric grease or apply a sealant to the seams?)
Hey can you do an iPad? The last time you showed how to change screen, battery etc was apparently years ago. With new ones coming in March it would be fun to see what has changed no?
JerryRigEverything I know you don't do jeopardy test but you should try to drop this phone on the corner that has the vibration motor and see what happens to it
That NFC location can explain why the SIDE of the phone is used instead. That battery placement is brilliant though. No need to harm the other components when you can separated it with its own housing first.
If u try to replace the iPhone 7 or plus screen will it no longer be water resistant pls reply cause my dads new iPhone 7 plus just fell and the screen shattered
Appreciate your work and time you're spending on this. It's fun to watch and also helps me to pick phones that are easier to repair or are not so fragile. It's also interesting to see how different manufacturers approach the design. Oh yeah and i would love to see Honor 8 tested and torn apart :) Spec wise it seems it's just a copy of P9, but i saw some info that it's completely different internally and much harder to repair than the P9.
