I still have a xz premium (released April 2017),still runs fine after 3 years. Sony could've done more with these phones buy they're pretty good. Ridiculously durable, it's been (accidentally) thrown around my kitchen a few times and dropped on tiles. Only ever needed a charging port replacement last year, battery lasts all day and charges in 1.5hrs

Also screen if flickering when at 100% brightness. And while phone is not connected to charger, it is noticeabely solwer than when connected to charger. Its solid allrounder but not so good as my first sony, the sony xperia z which battery is still going strong after 7 years even after i accidentaly cycled over the phone, shattering its screen.

Cool! I have an XZ Premium that is fine except for the charging port being a bit loose and having a dodgy pin. Which I guess is quite major because the cable has to be inserted, then very, very carefully moved around until all pins get contact before it will charge. Once in the optimal position, it has to be left in that spot lest the plug lose contact and stop charging.
I have a replacement though. Not a Sony. My daughter bought me an OPPO A53s which is a very good phone considering the price.
I was advised by a repairer here in Australia that it would be "very expensive" to repair it. However, knowing enough about phone dismantling to be dangerous to myself and others, as well as having a sometimes problematic curiosity, I think I might source a replacement charging port and have a crack at fixing it. The worst I can do is break it.

really looking forward to the S8/S8 plus teardown. if the back is as easy to remove like the s7 then I will eventually replace my midnight black back glass with a coral blue or some cool color variant that comes out later on

I'd like to see a tear down of the Huawei P9 or the Huawei mate 8. Never saw a tear down on those phones. And for the camera testing you Could use the Huawei mate 8

Those brackets and fittings help phone for absorbing hard bumping drops . Though not good for repairs phone stays working even if dropped from 40 feet provided screen remind intact
