DIY Easy great looking goat/sheep shelter [$inexpensive]

  • Hi there neighbors! Check out how easy it is to build a nice great looking little shelter for your little animal friends. I spent the same money on this little pen as you would a store bought pen but if you can agree, this one is much better!
    If you would like for details of the shelter let me know, and I hope I was of some help when you go to build yours.

    Greatest invention in the history of western man is the gas powered post hole auger. I used to use a post hole digger but when my wife bought me a gas powered one the world changed. I can dig a hundred feet of post holes about the same time it takes to dig one hole by hand. If you have a homestead you NEED one. Solid fencing is essential and fence posts need replaced fairly often.

      Don't stress about it. Just give it a go. On my first shed I made plenty of mistakes, the good thing is to get out there and try it. Take pride in ur work even if it isn't perfect

    Great job, great run in shelter. You should install a gutter at the back and run it to an enclosed water tank. Then you can g goalie on site water at your disposal.

    That's great job. At 13:35, you can change the position of hinges and fix them either outside or at the edge of the door. That way the door can swing fully and last longer, not inside.

      @@El.Stumpy Those in the pic are Nigerian Dwarf, but I don't raise milk goats anymore, I've moved to meat goats: Boer and Kiko.

      @@El.Stumpy There were many reasons I changed to meat goats, time it took to milk, being lactose intolerant, and we really wanted to have a source of meat on our farm without getting large animals.

      @@El.Stumpy The only advice I used this year I got from another goat owner is to not feed grain the first and last month of their gestation. My does were having trouble birthing their kids by themselves and they were big babies and this trick seemed to work this last spring. I still helped a couple does but they were much smoother births. I just raise them as a hobby, sell a few kids and keep one or two for meat each year.

    i would have spent enough time leveling the site & large area adjacent to shelter sight. once shelter is in place you may find it harder to deal standing water & runoff from heavy rain. the sticks & other debris is a mess to deal with also. i think you could mount your hinges differently & gate would likely open wider to. not criticizing just saying. good luck my friend

      I dont take any advice the wrong way, looking back at it now there is multiple things I would have done different myself. You live and you learn though. For the next shed I would for sure do a few things different.
