House of The Dragon Made It Impossible to Support "Team Green"

- House of the Dragon, the prequel of sorts to Game of Thrones, really wants you to pick a side. All must choose! Will you support Queen Rhaenyra, firstborn named heir to King Viserys? Or this other guy who watches babies kill each other for fun, also he’s a drunk and a rapist. Wow, what a choice. Through some book tweaks and show choices that were, well, A REAL CHOICE, I’m talking about you, Larys Strong and the foot…enthusiasm, I’m going to break down why House of the Dragon made it really hard if not totally impossible for any normal person not trolling to support Team Green. Because while one side has one guy with really cool vibes, the other side literally has everything else going for it.

Yeah, for as much as this show made it impossible for most to root for the team green it will take only one scene from the next episode to do the same for team black.
Even Blood and Cheese would not change much

Aegon would feed his sister to his dragon Sunfyre and hold his nephew as hostage
Helaena would go insane and kills herself

It was impossible for me to support Team Black after Rheanyra recklessly had 3 bastard sons due to marrying someone she didnt want to, like every other woman in Westeros, dsepite actually being given more than enough time to find and CHOOSE her own husband before she snuck out the castle with Daemon and seduced Criston. It was the fact that she still had the nerve to believe the throne would fall into her lap after all of that, that lost me. Alison on the other hand who is truly binded by the patriarchy and laws of the land actually adhere's to her responsibilities as a person of power. Otto while seemingly snakish is just a smart Westerosi man doing his job to the best of his abilities while making sure he wasnt in a position to be killed. Daemon always hated Otto and would have tried to kill him if he ever was in power. Also Rheanyra proved Otto correct as she was the first of her and Alicent to wish or suggest harm onto the other's children, this happened when Rheanyra suggested that Aemond be tortured after already being jumped by her and Daemon's kids as well as Luke cutting out his eye. And dont even get me started on the miscarriage of law and justice that happened with Vaemond. The Blacks as well as Viserys through their actions, lies, and selfishness have largely destablized Targaryen unity during this period in Westeros. The Greens have a much better collection of rulers (minus Aegon of course) and the moral highground via Alicent and Aemond.

Rheanyra's childrens don't affect her claim to the throne, it is still rightfully hers. It can be argued that it should pass to Aegon or her first son with Daemon instead of Jacerys, but it doesn't affect her claim whatsoever. Many princes have bastard children and it never affects their right to the throne, it wouldn't for a princess either.
This is a bizarre video to release when you know IGN is well aware of a certain major plot point that will almost definitely be happening, based on trailers and bts bits.
Team green has Helaena. So they win.

Rheynera's kids are illegitimate. Nothing else is of any relevance, unless you're watching it through modern girlboss lenses, which is not how medieval feudal societies work. It doesn't matter if the greens are bad people. The laws of that fictional universe are on their side.
Are those laws unjust by modern standards? Sure, so is feudalism. You're not complaining about the institution of the monarchy while watching the show. So don't complain about divine right of kings or royal lineage either. The greens are right, according to their westerosi laws and traditions.

Have you read the books? Team Green loses ALL of its armies. All of them. Meanwhile, the Black armies slow march to King's Landings 🤣😂. The Greens lose the war and the throne.
@@Thejericko17The idea that of male primogeniture is solidified and becomes precedent that was what Team Green was fighting for. Meaning they won war as there was no Targeryan queen after Rhaenyra. The Blacks won the Throne because Rhaenyras blood sits it and continues the Targeryan dynasty.

Beyond the promo which allows the audience to have fun, supporting a camp is not the point of this story. It's a tragedy about a family tearing itself apart and destroying the kingdom at the same time. It is the war itself that is the true antagonism of the story and those who try to prevent it who are worth supporting.

Not really. The point GRRM was trying to convey is that this civil war destroyed the family. Sure the bloodline for team black continued. But (show wise) look how that turned out for house Targaryen. Basically non-existent now.
@@anasosa2969 my point stands. Team Black wins and House Targaryen endures for a solid ~150 years until the Mad King. Their stupidity and fear makes the Targaryen's lose their dragons sure but that doesnt change the fact that Team Black wins.
