- 9-year-old Chef Amalah tries to make Mini Black and White Cheesecakes on episode 2 of Amalah's Perfect Desserts.
Here's the full recipe:
MINI BLACK AND WHITE CHEESECAKES
Makes 12 servings
Ingredients
1 cup chocolate wafer cookie crumbs
12 ounces cream cheese, softened
½ cup sugar
2 teaspoons vanilla
½ cup milk
2 eggs
½ cup semisweet chocolate chips, melted and cooled slightly
Directions
1. Preheat oven to 325°F. Line 12 standard (2½-inch) muffin cups with paper baking cups. Spoon rounded tablespoon of cookie crumbs into each cup.
2. Beat cream cheese, sugar and vanilla in large bowl with electric mixer at medium speed until light and fluffy. Add milk and eggs; beat until well blended. Transfer half of mixture to medium bowl; stir in melted chocolate until well blended.
3. Divide remaining plain cream cheese mixture among prepared mutin cups. Bake 10 minutes.
4. Divide chocolate mixture among muffin cups; spread to edges. Bake
15 minutes or until centers are almost set. Cool completely in pan on wire rack. - Komedie

How about banana bread? It is one of the first things I learned to make. And yes, your honest and kind reaction is a great addition to the show. Her self evaluation also is a learning tool and focusing on the end product, not errors in her process.
Any chef honest enough to say " Eh, whatever!" while cooking is OK in my book.

Lol I did that but it was rose extract. It was a great way to scent any room the cake was in but it wasn't a pleasure to eat. It was like eating perfume.

I love it. Amalah is cooking. Don't be afraid to taste. Semi sweet tastes different. Learn measurements, and also to weigh it in your hands. Try homemade biscuits. Hint: flaky is more butter fluffy is less.😊

Took me a few tries to figure out beating cream cheese step takes about 10 minutes to get it fluffy with the stand mixer. Let her try it again she'll get it!

That's ok, you tried, I get instructions wrong too. One day I accidentally put baking soda instead of sugar to make my chip cookies(I don't know what I was on that day) and that cookie was so huge😂. I ended up wasting ingredients and throwing them away....😂

She’s a big reader, is heavily common sense based, and great at reasoning. Mommy sets the table and gives an overview. I setup the cameras and encourage her to read. I’ll only help with stuff like “oz = ounces.” I’m giving her room to learn as she goes and that’s what makes the show 😁
Go back to being Construction Girl. You seemed much more comfortable around construction equipment.
She is no longer interested in construction and even if she was, she can do both quite comfortably. This girl has been baking since age two or so. She'll master it eventually.
Yeah, the construction excavator phase has passed. Something about baking draws her, so I support. A little frustration is ok when you’re doing something new.
