There was a bipartisan, comprehensive Border bill which would have massively increased federal troops AT THE SOUTHERN BORDER.
Joe and Kamala had to spend a lot of political capital to get the progressives to agree.
This bill would have been passed by the Senate and House; the votes were pledged.
But at the last minute Trump forbade any R from voting to pass the bill.
Why?
Trump didn't want the Border problem to be SOLVED. He didn't want Dems and GOPs to work together for a bill both sides could live with. Trump didn't want the Border problems SOLVED, he wanted them to generate more fear and anger among the people who live near the border.
So, after the elections, will the Progressives still be willing to back this border bill? They will want more concessions from the Centrists.

It will not help if republicans turn out to vote for Harris but send MAGA to state legislatures, the House and the Senate. If the GOP wants to take back their party, they need to drive MAGA out of office which means they hve to be willing to vote blue down ballot in most cases,
