Sog NOT having a bit holder on the back...just so they could be spring loaded...sigh...they don't learn
Maybe someday. I believe also this is geared towards an extremely limited outdoor EDC crowd. I guess almost like the Leatherman Style.
But why would they add a bit driver into a fishing multitool?
@@sterkriger2572 I’d like a bit driver, I don’t fish but like the lightweight and form factor for edc.
It's saying a lot about a brand's overall quality when a doubting "it's not awful" is meant as a compliment
All the combo-style multi tools are great… can openers, bottle openers, cork screws, wood saws, etc., … but it’s been done to death. I’m still waiting to see one of the bigs, or anyone of the makers, start making trade specific tools… or maybe at least trade generalized, even separating the trades models from outdoor models. I’ve got a lot of multi tools in my collection, and can’t remember the last time I opened a can, a bottle or, pulled a cork. Maybe that’s a sign that I need to get outside more! 🤷🏻♂️ Eventually they’re gonna do it, I guess.
I agree, we need trade specific quality tool sets!
I agree trade specific tools would be great. Might be a marketing nightmare but would be interesting and beneficial to us in the trades.
I've used the cork tool to get out a tight knot from not having nails :p that's about it hahaha
My son would like the SOG aegis and I would prefer the gerber armbar trades. However we are both power pint fans. Thanks for the video.
The best trade specific multitool is to mod one yourself & only limited to your imagination. Cheers mate.
Great point!
Gerber's armbar drive would compliment my leatherman charge edc so well if it just had a locking bit holder.
That power pint definitely has more potential. I hope SOG sees the gem they are overlooking
I agree!
The sog spring loaded pliers look really good for electronics
That would be a good use for them. They are more precise pliers.
I have the amber on my to buy list as I mainly use a screw driver, shears, knife. Pair that with my rebar leatherman or crunch...perfect edc.
Definitely sounds like a great combo!
On the Stakeout I reckon I could open a can no problem with the awl, I've done it in the past with all kinds of less suitable things. But for myself as a light/medium duty outdoorsy small pocket knife/multitool with a similar toolset, I prefer my Victorinox Farmer X and as it's the same price as the Stakeout here in the UK, and is EDC legal unlike the Stakeout which has a locking blade, I'd recommend that over the Stakeout.
For me the armbar scout looks great. As a backpacker i just want a saw, scissors, and a knife. Does anyone know of something better that just has those 3 things?
Gerber Armbar Scout is my favorite out of all of em
Lot of missed opportunities. Nothing with the big 4 tools: file, saw, scissors, knife. No t shank holder or a removable file and saw combo like Leatherman Surge. Tweezers, but no ferro rod in an outdoor product. And so many bottle openers in an era of screw off tops, but no can opener....
i really want a knifeless multi tool, seems like the only decent two are the rebar by leatherman and the mp600 bladeless by gerber. im leaning towards the 600 but any suggestions? i already carry a knife that i use for specific things with good blade steel
The short answer is most people would pick the knifeless Leatherman Rebar, but... if you're interested there are more options. First the Gerber 600 bladeless tool is great and has been referred to as the tank of multi-tools. And next there are options like the Havalon Evolve where the scalpel can be traded for a saw I have heard. Nextool has a Flagship version with a utility blade holder instead of the knife and it can be left empty if you are in an area where locking knives are outlawed. For your specific situation, you might want to consider a modified Leatherman Wave or Charge where you replace the outside blades with, for instance a hacksaw blade and Victorinox scissors. But again the short answer would be both options you listed are great but most would pick the Leatherman Rebar.
@Hvac Budget thank you. I'm interested in the nextool but it looks like that can only be ordered directly from them and the only option I see is to get a quote from them. Is that normally how it works with nextool?
@@gway9226 You can buy it off of Aliexpress or you may be able to buy it off their website with a credit card as well. I bought the NexTool Flagship utility model off of Aliexpress but the Gemini I bought off of NexTool's main website with no issues. I believe they might use PayPal as well.
I just got the arm bar I have 6 other multi tools but I just wanted something a little compact with just 2 main tools I’ll probably use if I don’t need pliers I like the blade not too long not too short and I like the feel of it when the driver is extended and if I were to pair it with one of my multi tools I think it would go well with my skeletool which is so lightweight I hardly know I have it on me sometimes I would use them both in a situation where I would hold a screw with the skeletool and screw with the arm bar
That sounds like a great idea.
@@hvacbudget8600 yeah I’m a multi tool freak I carry my surge and gerber center drive with me to work every day I use the gerber because when the driver is extended it’s basically a full size driver and the surge to make any adjustments on my bike I commute to work on and when I’m off my ozark trail multi force is my out and about tool I basically have multi tools for different situations one is not enough they all have different unique features lol
@@jaredharris1970 Sounds like you have some good kits!
Would like to switch my scissors. What scissors will fit in the powerpint?
I'm not sure about that. I would search on multitool.org forum and see if someone else has done that mod.
Sog power litre, with locking bit holder are the best
I can see the value in all of them I love the green and black color but if I could only have one I would probably pick the trade because of what I do. One more thing that is a wenger which I think is going to be 85mm not a 91mm like the victorinox knifes.
Good catch! Thanks.
FYI ""Based in Delémont, Wenger was acquired in 2005 by Victorinox and partially absorbed. Since 2013, Wenger Swiss Army knives are integrated in the Victorinox collection as the "Delémont collection". Wenger & Co.""...
@@MustaLaatta Great info!
Does Gerber do an Armbar without a knife? We have very strict knife laws here in Australia.
I don't think so. But there was at one point, the Gerber MP600 bladeless. Also it should be possible to take a multi tool like the Ozark Trail Multi Force and use one handle arranged with the tools you want and make an Armbar like tool yourself.
Gerber will end up like Sog, bought by an outdoor shopkeeper when you see the crazy prices he charges for distressing gadgets (armbar, etc.), 5 times more expensive than Chinese multifunction knives, much better designed, better equipped and more ergonomic (Swiss+Tech, Splitman, Nextool, etc.).
@@jasoncoffmanandhunterjimmithy Nothing more than what I wrote...
It's weird that there's no pocket clip on the Aegis.
I agree. I was surprised it is essentially the same size as the PowerPint but no pocket clip. It is only 2.4oz but I love pocket clips.
@@hvacbudget8600 In my experience, it helps keep the dirt out, especially if you're spending time outdoors!
I think sog has employed some new designers. Some are good, others not so much. Some of their newer gear is a little fruity.
that is a wenger swiss army knife, not a victorinox. doesn't change much, the idea is the same, just to let you know
