@YoGuy121 Thanks. The 06 probably rides a bit better than mine but It depends on your riding style. The newer ski-doo's ride almost like in the position of a dirtbike with higher bars being stock. A buddy of mine isn't sure if he's going to like the riding position of the newer ski-doo's. I just bought this one at the end of October so I haven't really taking out for a good ride yet and most of the snow that we had melted today. Hopefully we get a cold spell and some snow soon.
@walkingfreak I guess I should have spoke louder at times in this video. I guess at times when I am processing what I am going to do I speak lower until I am clear on my game plan. Oh, and on the rebuild working out. It worked awesome. I've actually riddin it a couple of times and it flys and is really smooth. As soon as the we get more snow I'll be making some riding videos. Thanks for watching.
No you don't. I did becuse I was rebuilding shocks and going throught the whole skid. Just remove the wheel and the bearing is on that. Thanks for watching.
@johnathonmelby No, It only has one wheel inside the axel. Arctic Cat put 2 wheels on inside of the rear axel but none on the outside on the 2003 F7. You can see in my video "Arctic Cat F7 Rear Skid Repair: part 4" if you want. Thanks for watching.
do you need to take out the entire suspension from the sled to replace the rear axel wheel? I have a polaris 98 680cc triple and the rear axel wheel bearing is shot and needs to be replaced
Hey Paisteboy, I have an arctic cat 580 & I noticed when i start it and run the track my back right idle wheel wobblies but only the one .Does that mean it needs to be replaced or just needs to be tightened ???
Paisteboy how do you replace just the bearing? I assume you replace entire idle wheel ? Also I tried to tighten it but it spins both sides of idle wheels am I missing something?
Do you have anything on chain case leaks? I've got a 2000 MX Z 700 with reverse. I think the chain case has a leak. Have you had to replace the seals or gaskets on any of these? If so, could you give me any tips on proper repair/replacement on what ever needs to be done?
Dan OConnor The only thing I've done to my chaincase is chain the oil. I usually figure this stuff out as I go. Not always the best strategy, but I'm not a mechanic. Sorry I can't offer any advice at this time. Thanks for watching though.
paisteboy Thats pretty much the way I've been doing it. Will ask sometimes if I get stuck. My MX Z, has some greenish-black looking stuff oozing from it some where. Suspect the chain case. just hope its the case gasket, and not the shaft seal.
wasn't chain case leaking. Gromet on the bottom of the oil tank, plus, a micro crack that runs vertical across that seam that runs around the top of the oil tank
I don't have the 2000 MXZ 700 anymore. I have a 2016 Ski-Doo Blizzard now. That's something I may do to my new sled next year but it won't be the same if you have a sled like the one on this video.
@johnathonmelby Last year I asked a long time mechanic and he said that Ski-Doo realized a while ago that it was not needed and a waste of money so they eliminated one of them.
How come you didnt film the instal of the skid? It's all part of the process and would of been informative either way, I understand you had a freind helping but at least a shot from any angle would of been better than none, just my opinion, my axle is seized currently brain storming on how to get it out. Thanks for the vid
I'm not sure I had anyone helping me on this one at all. It was so long ago now I don't remember why I didn't make a video installing the skid. I may have needed to get it done quickly to go riding. There are videos that i could have made over the years but sometimes time is too tight. Thanks for watching.
@@Paisteboy at the end you wrote on the screen the reason you didnt record the install is because you had a freind helping you, I thought about doing videos but I think it would make anything your doing take twice as long, so respect for those of you who do and have the patience lol
@@joshwelch8288 OK. Yeah. Probably didn't want to inconvenience my friend with doubling the time it would take to re-install the skid if we recorded it all. My garage is pretty small so just setting up the camera in one spot wouldn't have been much help.
You help me a lot thank u again
Happy to help!
Cool vid, Keep up the good work. Happy New Year!
Happy 2021!!! I hope you and your crew have an amazing season.
Thank you. You do the same.
Great video! Helped me a great deal. Thank you.
This is a Paisteboy classic now. lol. Glad it helped Dennis.

Yes, they made it offset to one side.

sweet vid i wasridin a friends 06 mxz 500 it was sweet wonder what yours would be like
You remove the idler wheel from the skid and then press the bearing out of the wheel.

It could be just lose, but it most likely just needs a new bearing.
Paisteboy how do you replace just the bearing? I assume you replace entire idle wheel ? Also I tried to tighten it but it spins both sides of idle wheels am I missing something?
😂 "this is fun guys"
Thanks
@paisteboy is it to the side then not in the midle
Where would you buy a rear axel wheel, i have an mxz also but a 99 500, it would be the same wheel as yours
You can get a used pair on eBay for 24 bucks or new for 18 each plus shipping.

How do you plan on fixing that?
Oh ok thank you ..
@paisteboy polaris puts 2 in there why did skidoo only do one?
Please make a video on how to grease snowmobile bearings

Where can I find idler wheels, ski doo has discontinued them. Are there aftermarket options?
I would check Dennis Kirk or eBay. What year and model is your sled?
What size are those rear wheels I know the other are I believe 135mm the back ones just look bigger
Not sure. Sorry, I don't own this sled anymore so I can't check. Thanks for watching.
wasnt there supposed to be 2 inside the axle not one????
