@DaniRs1 The French horn (it has a similar sound) used to be used to conjure forest scenes (its association with hunting). From there, it came to symbolize not just the forest, but the adventurer who traveled through it, and then simply nature, independence, nobility, and eventually, the yearning for adventure (in some futuristic settings). Also, its metallic and slightly nasally tone has been used with trombones for infernal, hellish settings. The more you know.
Bonjour. Dans ma playlist “FOLK-MONDE” , vous trouverez “IN DEN ALPEN” Une composition que j'ai fait pour un ensemble de Alphorn. Agréable découverte. Cordialement. JM.
@MorkaGraven Actually, the harmonic series (the notes it is able to play) goes up to include other notes, even ones outside the arpeggio. C C G C E G Bb C D E F# ... It's a mathematical pattern, but unfortunately, harmonics past that second E start to sound "off."
@oOLadyAmiraOo It's from all over the Alps, which cover an area larger than Switzerland. Switzerland, Austria, and much of Germany would be no stranger to this.

@usaiscollapsing Dude...this is like their version of an Colonial Reenactment Fife and Drum Corps. They have modern musical tastes and performers like us (albeit in German). They just appreciate historic culture more since the continent was burned and bombed to hell in WWII.
@picardkid Exactly and after i read back at your comment i thought that you know more than the average person about Europe. By the way if you have the opportunity you should roadtrip Europe, for the last 3 summers i take the car with my gf and we travel...You see and you learn so many things, and so meny good memories ! By the way i think when somebody messes up it's totally normal to appologise but yeah most people have their pride and ego talking first and feel "lower" then they appologise.
@boardelia Every country feels at least a bit superior to all others in their own way, it's called patriotism. What I meant was, so much culture was destroyed in that conflict, of course they want desperately to preserve it. I live in what is probably the most German-ish town in Michigan, complete with a Munich-sanctioned Oktoberfest, so I think I know history and customs. Thanks for the apology (rare for CZcams commenters).
Je suis au regret de vous annoncer le décès de notre cher Jozsef Molnar le 24 février 2022. Nous perdons un grand musicien. Toutes nos condoléances à la famille.
mihaialtsax r. not quite that, there was a believe that alp horn comes from Roman-Etruscan (a civilization of ancient Italy), but there are no written proof. Alp horn was used for communication in the mountains mainly. In 1555 Swiss man, Conrad Gesner, have made first detailed description of the instrument. Also lots of similar type of instrument had been used across the Europe, as signal type instrument. Romanian horn (Bucium) is alphorn type, but very different instrument. So making statement, that instrument is originally from Romania is actually wrong. :)
What about carnyx? That's the real ancestor of the instrument... But j understand... Nothing Good could come from that country yeah? Especially in Swiss...
@picardkid hmmm now that i read back i admit i overeacted dude. I read some stupid comments just before and i mad at you, sorry about that. About Swiss they're very proud people...and they think they're superior somehow
;) bin eine Auslandschweizerin und dieser Klang lässt doch einfach das Herz warm werden.
Saw this at Grindelwald once, not sure if it was them actually, but is was so amazing. This needs to be preserved forever.

in F# and the 11th partial is a bit sharp, thats why they rolled the french Horn up to get the hand into the bell for correction.
