FYI... I had a very similar problem and it came down to an import setting where the camera was outputting 1080i 60 but my software somehow got set to 1080p 30 and after about 20 minutes major desync occurred
Thanks for pointing out the hidden hardware encoder setting, I was wondering that as well, although not enough to bother go research it.

man! thank you so much I was in the same boat as you. every time I go live on facebook I will of problems with the audio beeping off sync. with try everything and we still had the problem. till I found your video and I test it with my setup and it work and now I can say that I don't have to worry about the audio been off sync. thank you so much..
You're welcome. Which method did you use? Because I still can't get the hardware encoder option to work well with my Mac. It stays in sync, but OBS drops frames after about 10 minutes.
Somebody correct me if I'm wrong, but AFIAK the preview window hasn't got to do anything with the encoder. You need to actually record or stream something and look at that output and not on the preview.
Perfect. This is exactly what I needed. I bashed my head against the wall all last year until I found this. My head hurts. What did your delay end up being? Is it different per streaming service or per your hardware?
I’m 99% sure it’s my hardware. Whenever I use the SDI mode, I get syncing issues. But when I use HDMI, no problem!

I agree. I felt the same.
My reaction right now would be "OMFG Ken actually replied to me! AAAAAAA", but i want to be mature. It actually reminds me of old TV's/AV cable mess, which was about 5-6 years ago before my family got an LCD (or was it LED?) TV.
If you've got an Nvidia GPU then NVENC is your best bet. I didn't know Apple actually had hardware encoding, so thats good to know.
newer MacBooks(2010 up) do not have Nvidia GPUs
Yes I know. It was a completely useless tidbit of information.
Newer macs actually have a hardware encoding option when running Windows called intel quick sync. It works a lot better than x264 in most cases but you need a high bitrate.
2011 ones have AMD chipsets.

Yes, they were. I was just eyeballing it. But when I slowed everything down in post, I realized I was by about 4-5 frames.

Uh...what? Remember how old this machine is. HEVC was hardly used ANYWHERE when this computer came out (5 years ago). Newer Macs have hardware accelerated HEVC.

I'm still not sure what you're getting at. Does the GT 750M have the features you're talking about? Also, my goal was achieved with the hardware encoder I had on my computer, regardless if it was on the NVIDIA chipset for not. I still accomplished what I wanted. : |

I don’t make game videos. I mean, rarely. That hardware doesn’t seem necessary.

I'm sorry… I don't understand what you're asking. Are you asking if you can record to the camera's medium AND record to a computer? It depends on your camera. Some camera's can't output external video while they're recording. Sometimes there's a tradeoff when recording starts (e.g. the internal display will turn off).
Do you know why chrome won’t recognize the mini recorder? It seems to work every other software, but chrome.
Wow, I was literally just having the same issue today. Have you opened the Camera settings inside Chrome? What input options do you get?
@@ComputerClan It shows several ultrasound option with various resolutions and frame rates, but none of them work. for one day it showed blackmagic mini recorder showed up some how and was working. Now i just get the ultrasound options.
I think I figured it out! Chrome blocks certain devices due to security. Install a Chrome version from pre-summer 2019. I tried it with Chrome 71.x and it worked with my UltraStudio!
You should try to install arch linux instead of mint.

I know it's not on Mac but Streamlabs Open Brodcaster is better
Streamlabs OBS is still the same as OBS internally, it just has extra features and an intuitive interface.

Elgato was, actually, the first company I looked at (many moons ago). However, I need something SDI input, which the Cam Link doesn't have. Thanks for the suggestion, though. : )
