Jules asking "Who are these for?" And Dutch replying "The bottle COLLECTOR" (emphasis mine). More power to Blue Run and their marketing team. But sorry to you guys having to suffer through reviewing these 😂
Respect to Dillion for opening these bottles for a drink through, even though most were disappointing. Your financial sacrifice may save some viewers from buying these--thanks!
Thanks fellas for saving me at least $100 on trying one of these. I’ve heard the hype. As far as the Emerald bottle goes, for under $100 I can grab a finished Sagamore Rye and enjoy the hell out of it.
Completely agree. This stuff is a masterclass in niche marketing. It is the Clase Azul of the Bourbon/Rye world (okay minus the additives). Awesome packaging that looks great on your back bar, approachable inoffensive product for the novice, and a premium but generally attainable price point with excellent supply (there's a few on the top shelf of just about every liquor store I've ever been in). It's the classic house warming gift given by the non-bourbon nerd to someone he thinks is a bourbon nerd; Unfortunately he's just like the Tequila nerd that ends up with a shelf full of Clase Azuls from friends and family after every birthday. Pity the non-aged stated stuff is so mediocre.
Awesome episode!! Blue Run is a typical whiskey company these days. Averaged sourced whiskey, over marketed and over priced. Tired of companies these days focusing more on the bottle than the bourbon inside!! And loving Dutch with the "I'm bored" fast pours by the end!!
@@steveno7058 Yeah I think this trend of, let's release a fancy bottle at $100, is going to bite a lot of these companies in the end. When they realize bottles just sit on the shelves because people realize the juice in them isn't close to worth it!!
You nailed my thoughts exactly. Paying $100 for sourced bourbon is ridiculous. We have local grain to glass distilleries in CO where I’d rather spend my money for a unique product
Near me, this stuff just collects dust on the shelves. Maybe some people are collecting this stuff, but I don't think that's true for all areas/markets.
Never tried or seen these yet here in Australia but looks like i don't wanna try or collect these lol .very funny educational drink through .Cheers guys
Blinded the Reflection 1 against my $15 JTS Brown and it got smoked. Not sure I will ever buy another bottle of Blue Run. Cool infiniti bottle though! :)
You guys are fucking historical ! Definitely my favorite new bourbon review channel really happy you did this comparison been curious about this brand.
I enjoy the Emerald Rye and that's about it. But this is how I feel about Nulu and some of the other brands right now who seem to release the majority of their stuff at the 100 dollar and up price point. I understand economics and the US whiskey market basically having a double whammy of inflation and massive hype-driven demand. My question is where is th actual value in terms of QPR. Brands like Four Gate are setting a new bar at 175+ and I know they're putting a lot of effort into their finishing and sourcing, but then you have true ground-to-glass brands like Frey Ranch who have an INCREDIBLE product at an entry level price. I understand you can't waste money doing these boutique tastings, but I'd be interested to see some head-to-heads with the "flagships" from brands like Nulu, Stellum, NBC, Blue Run, Smokewagon, etc. Thanks for the video, btw.
Thank you for the drink through. I really wanted to try these and tempted to spend extra money as they are never in my area. Now I will wait to try in a bar if the price is right... lol
Dillon, thanks for taking one for the team and providing this public service announcement. I bought Reflections last year and it was worst use of money for the year. #neveragain
Maybe I should just keep that High Rye I've had sitting around for a while as an unopened display piece... Either that or make cocktails with it. If you guys really want to spend some money though..... Bruichladdich drink through? Black Art review?
New Riff Bourbon is 65 Corn, 30 Rye, 5 Malted Barley. Thanks for doing the Drink Through. Blue Run is not available in my location. Doubt that I will seek it out.
Funny show! Agree to argue:) I picked up a reflections 1 for $65.00 a month ago and thought it was alright but I would be very disappointed at full price of one hundred plus.
Who do you take more issue with - Blue Run (unremarkable but not off putting bourbon for $100 built on marketing) or Hidden Barn (releasing bourbon that doesn’t even seem ready for distribution)? Both cash grabby….
Ooof. The Blue Run was much more drinkable - I just can't understand how a product like Hidden Barn gets released! I think that makes me understand the Blue Run better - and makes it more forgivable.
Amen. I feel bad for Dillon for getting mugged 7 times! I traded a MWND for a Golden Rye (damn you, Matt Porter). I was on vacation and found a bottle of the High Rye bourbon for the low, low price of $100. Two muggings and I was all the way out on the butterfly. Dillon just kept rolling the dice. I read an article where they said that they were marketing bourbon like tennis shoes and I was infuriated. Screw these people.
I tried one of the high-rye bourbons at a bar and although I quite enjoyed it, no way would I buy a bottle for $100+. $60 is the ceiling for where it drinks up to.
I only got the high rye bourbon, and all I tasted was spicy, earthy, wet wood. Absolutely one of the worst bourbons in ever got, especially for the price. What really kills me, is at the time, I grabbed that instead of a Remus V backup bottle (for the same price)
I've wasted money on 3 bottles of blue run, the 13, golden rye and high rye bourbon. Expensive gimmicky whiskey with little to no flavor. And cut it with the stupid butterflies.
Unremarkable is the flavor profile? I get you do not like it, but for the love of Jesus Christ can we get some tasting notes or comparisons to other distilleries as a reference lol Good lord everyone is so biased.
Thank you for doing this run through! I've been eyeing this line for awhile but the price point is what kinda stopped me. Now, I won't be eyeing them any longer.
Jimmy Neutron seems snobby af. Maybe i picked the wrong videk to watch for the first time of this channel but seems like someone got politicians to taste bourbon. Just a run on negative vibe. Unfortunately what brought me here was i have a Reflection bottle and wanted to see if i needed to dump it or keep it.
Overpriced boring whiskey in pretty bottles built by marketing. They get boring pretty fast after a couple sips.
nailed it!
Jules asking "Who are these for?" And Dutch replying "The bottle COLLECTOR" (emphasis mine).
More power to Blue Run and their marketing team. But sorry to you guys having to suffer through reviewing these 😂
"They were arguing and agreed" jules lol
the biggest letdown of any bourbon I've tried...that memory lasts forever lol
Dillion: wanted to give them a chance (spends $1000) 😂
Dillon “please put me out of my misery”
I live in Canada and have wanted to try these forever.... thanks for the video I think i changed my mind
Judge, Jillon, and Jules 🤣
Should've titled this episode "Blue Run Roast."
Best drinkthrough ever!!
Respect to Dillion for opening these bottles for a drink through, even though most were disappointing. Your financial sacrifice may save some viewers from buying these--thanks!
Delightful Dillon has a look of regret throughout the whole video.
"If I didn't know anything about whiskey, I'd love this stuff." Shots fired! 😂
You should send samples to all the Curiosity Private members so we can share in the buyer's remorse. 😉
I normally watch for the whiskey, but this one I watched for you guys.
'If I didn't know anything about whiskey, I'd love this stuff.'
Classic line right there.
I love the "you know what it is" and "the extra humble Dillon". You go boy!!!!
Bardstown-sourced. “WHAT’S IN THE BOX?!”
Another example of paying a huge premium for marketing
Best video so far. I couldn’t stop laughing. Great job guys!!! 👍🏼

All these all hype no substance companies will die. People can only drink on marketing for so long

Jules needs to decorate his place with the bottles
In my opinion, the most elegant bottle in all of whiskey. I'm sad that what's inside doesn't live up to the packaging. Glad I've never bought any.
:-) honestly it was pretty easy to see through the marketing bullshit... Glad I've never bought any Blue Run.
I would just spend for the image, not the quality or taste
Castle & Key I believe distilled the product
Yeah, contract distilled at C&K.
Never tried or seen these yet here in Australia but looks like i don't wanna try or collect these lol .very funny educational drink through .Cheers guys

Now that it’s 2024 and product may not be moving well, Reflection 1 is $54.99; High Rye is $64.99. Wonder what other prices will drop.
You guys are fucking historical ! Definitely my favorite new bourbon review channel really happy you did this comparison been curious about this brand.
Have you all tried Dewar’s Double Double 32 year old blended scotch?
Uhhhhh.
czcams.com/video/wW2MNeRnTlg/video.html
@@CuriosityPublic lol nvm. For some reason I thought that review was for Dewar’s 21. I was asking to see how it compared to what I thought was the 21
Freedom! With the mel gibson meme. Thats what dillon is feeling on blue run

Blue Run sounds like something bad happened in the bathroom 🚽.😂
My initial thought on this ridiculous overpriced overhyped craze…. "Who's the more foolish, the fool or the fool who follows him?" 😊
bardstown and castle and key makes most of their stuff
Turkeys 🦃 eat butterflies 🦋, no thanx…. Tx for more drinkthroughs 👍 luv it…
Thank you for the drink through. I really wanted to try these and tempted to spend extra money as they are never in my area. Now I will wait to try in a bar if the price is right... lol
Oh I love you guys fighting with each other. Delightful D , give him some credits for keeping it academic!! ❤
Greetings from a swede in Spain
Just got my private member ships, really glad I have a lot more content to enjoy
Credit to Dillon for being an honest reviewer. Someone else in his place would probably double down or hype up due to the expense.
Dillon, thanks for taking one for the team and providing this public service announcement. I bought Reflections last year and it was worst use of money for the year. #neveragain
Why keep buying after the first one was not great?
Maybe I should just keep that High Rye I've had sitting around for a while as an unopened display piece... Either that or make cocktails with it. If you guys really want to spend some money though..... Bruichladdich drink through? Black Art review?
New Riff Bourbon is 65 Corn, 30 Rye, 5 Malted Barley. Thanks for doing the Drink Through. Blue Run is not available in my location. Doubt that I will seek it out.
I believe the juice is coming from the resurrected Castle and Key distillery.
Funny show! Agree to argue:) I picked up a reflections 1 for $65.00 a month ago and thought it was alright but I would be very disappointed at full price of one hundred plus.
It is distilled at Castle and Key under the direction of Jim Rutledge
The first couple of batches were. They're now having Rutledge distill at Bardstown Bourbon Company.
The older stuff was sourced from Barton.
@@arbeckWA maybe they shoulda ponied up for MGP sourced bourbon and ryes😂
We have many bottles in my area and I have absolutely no interest in buying the overpriced shit!
Have the Reflection, agree total disappointment, really fell flat all around. Great honest review guys.
"If I didn't know anything about whiskey, I'd love this stuff" is an all-time great line. Perfectly sums up the Blue Run target market.
I bought this out of curiosity way back and it stunk. Wish you could have released that episode, Dutch. What is Dutch hiding?!?!?
Blue Run will give your Bank Account Blue Balls! 🤣
Damn ECBP A123 is simply the best Heaven Hill product I have ever tried!...I am sure it beats any Blue Run product too
Friend gave me a pour of the high rye. Pretty solid. Wont be buying a bottle of blue run lol
Where can I find those shirts?
www.redbubble.com/people/CuriosityPublic/shop
So the liquor isn't worth the price but is the brand worth whatever price Coors is paying for it?
No other choice to be humble when you spend that much money and in the end it's just "okay" 😅
This is hipster juice.

The pricing from this company is absurd. Zero respect for the consumer from what ive seen.
As far as the rye goes, almost any of the Sagamore Spirits Rye is way better and a cooler looking bottle!
Amen. I feel bad for Dillon for getting mugged 7 times! I traded a MWND for a Golden Rye (damn you, Matt Porter). I was on vacation and found a bottle of the High Rye bourbon for the low, low price of $100.
