I was invited by the owners of Triple D Feed loft to check out what they have from their Ma And Pa Shop that sells EVERYTHING you need to raise healthy pigeons to their 6 lofts and well over 300+ birds.
Peter, Devyn and Dawn are great people and extremely knowledgeable when it comes to keeping pigeons. If you ever need pigeon feed or any other supplies be sure to reach out to them. They are extremely competitive with their prices and have some of the best feed in town!
Triple D Feed also recently started hosting Pigeon Auctions that bring members from all over the Tri-State area. It's a great way to build new connections, share stories, buy birds and supplies.

The yeast is for added conditioning birds that are flying alot. I knew a successful long distance racing guy who would use it sprinkled on the food of his young birds feed. Not all the time but after a few flys as the training or racing progressed he would add it to help maintain them especially young birds which are still developing

I flew birds on Broome and Clinton st. in NYC back in the '60s, this brings me very good memories. I am 73yrs old but I will love pigeons until I die. love your birds, they are beautiful.

@@NE_Pigeons unfortunately, I live in a house that has many houses to close to each other and my neighbors complained so I took down my coop just to keep the peace. but I feed the street birds, so I won!!! oh yeahhh
@@tobylopez445 I'm in a similar situation, but am thinking about building a simple kitbox to house maybe 6 to 12 birds. Keep it simple and discrete.

$10 each is a steal. You can’t find birds for that price around here in California anymore. The pet/feed stores sells them for $20 each now

Oh Wow! They've lots off colors pigeons! If these off colors got strain from speed bird it will cost more than regular one. $10 is a steal here, a Grizzle with speed bird strain cost around $200 here.

350 pigeons and I 100% believe him. Yup. I remember some I lost when I was a lot younger. Bluebarred White Flight Cock bird a hawk took. Just lost one similar here not long ago. Coopers Hawks aka cats with wings. I totally understand these guys. Yep, I keep mine locked up pretty tight from the end of September until April. Tricking the hawk? Yep. Alternate the days and I leave them hungry when I let them out. AND? I let them out later in the day.

Honestly I'm not sure. I never experimented with it or created my own mix. But this is what chatgpt has to say:

It's best to avoid feeding pigeons rapeseed or any food that may contain it to ensure their safety. Stick to birdseed or bird food specifically designed for pigeons and doves.

I just wonder what they doing with the pigeons don’t flying, let go free or pass it to other people?
Many things can be done with birds that don't fly to the owners expectations. They can be sold, re homed, given to someone new in the hobby, or can also be used as fosters for breeding pairs etc.
I think releasing into the wild the bird would not survive very long. Would be easily picked off by predators like falcons/hawks and cats.

Aren't there any restrictions in keeping pigeons in built-up city areas?
All towns have their own ordinances. The best is to check. In most cases, if you keep pigeons and fly them properly, your neighbors will never know. The trick is to get the birds back in quickly after letting them out to fly. You don't want them sitting around on your roof or your neighbors, it's all about the training.

This is a great idea. Pigeon feed can used for other wild birds too. Bird seed is even cheaper buying it through a pigeon feed store in a bulk bag of 40lbs.

Before you buy anything do some research on the breeds that you like. Then look for them. Don't mix too many birds together. Flyers won't fly well.
