Shaq would always say he was a 28 and 10 guy and that if he doesn't eat he won't do the other big man things that the team wanted him to do. Melo was the main scorer for his team. That was his role. The offense through Jeremy wasn't at all conducive for Melo's game and vice versa. Jeremy was a D'Antoni point guard and would try to feed the ball to everyone on the floor. Melo is an ISO player who needs to be fed the ball. So it was really up to the Knicks to pick who they wanted to go with. They made the right choice with Melo, Knicks had a great season in 2013 making it to the 2nd round, Melo won the scoring title that year, while Lin began to struggle in the league as the scouting reports on him got better. Lin's career never really took off outside of those 8 games. No disrespect to him, he's an awesome person, but Linsanity was over almost as quick as it began.
All they had to do was bring Lin off the bench and play him with the second unit. And make a billion dollars off of merchandise sales and marketing him in China. Getting rid of Lin was not only the wrong decision, it was one of the most wrong decisions any media group has ever made. Let alone a basketball team.

@George David His game clearly evolved from his early days into his prime. Knee injuries took him out of his prime during the height of his game, but he def evolved as a player. Better defender, better shooter, got rid of the ball faster, and was a more willing passer. He just never played with a great squad in his prime for more than 1 season and a half.

The offense through Jeremy wasn't at all conducive for Melo's game and vice versa. Jeremy was a D'Antoni point guard and would try to feed the ball to everyone on the floor. Melo is an ISO player who needs to be fed the ball. So it was really up to the Knicks to pick who they wanted to go with. They made the right choice with Melo, Knicks had a great season in 2013 making it to the 2nd round, Melo won the scoring title that year, while Lin began to struggle in the league as the scouting reports on him got better. Lin's career never really took off outside of those 8 games. No disrespect to him, he's an awesome person, but Linsanity was over almost as quick as it began.
All they had to do was bring Lin off the bench and play him with the second unit. And make a billion dollars off of merchandise sales and marketing him in China. Getting rid of Lin was not only the wrong decision, it was one of the most wrong decisions any media group has ever made. Let alone a basketball team.

The Knicks would have never of made the playoffs that season if not for Jeremy Lin. He did more for The Garden in 2 weeks than Melo did in his entire career. We will remember Linsanity a lot longer than we'll remember anything Carmelo did in NY. Melo was another Kobe. Shoot his team out of a game if that means he gets 30 points. No wonder a guy like Jeremy Lin butted heads with those 2 egomaniacs. Neither Kobe or Melo were real leaders.

His game clearly evolved from his early days into his prime. Knee injuries took him out of his prime during the height of his game, but he def evolved as a player.
Better defender, better shooter, got rid of the ball faster, and was a more willing passer. He just never played with a great squad in his prime for more than 1 season and a half.
