My dad was born in '46 and told me tons of stories of how he was a Teddy Boy from the 60's onwards. It's so amazing to hear about the styles back then, really one of my most favourite interests!
My era had Teddy boys..drainpipe trousers, finger tip jackets the Elvis hair do..brothel creeper shoes..1950,s early 60,s..always a fight at the local dance hall..Was a fun time...I survived...
that era had proper Teddy Boys....no skin tight trousers, no jeans, no sideburns down to the chin, no earrings, no hair past the collar, no visible tattoos, no bright drapes and no exaggerated thick soled brothel creepers. All this belongs to the Showaddywaddy caricatures of the 70's onwards.
A few faces I recognise from the Black Raven, Bishopsgate and Fishmongers Arms, Wood Green C1969/73 - great times, if only I still had the energy to jive & bop all night!
Teddy boys still going strong, lots of "WeekEnders" or / and four day events happening all over. "Belfast Rock and Roll society" and " Rockin Dublin" from Ireland members go to these events all the time.
Hi man, I’m from Spain and we keep rocking down here, I’m planning to travel to England to visit cavan’s grave, do you know some places to do teddy boy stuff? Thank you
You would never see a UK girl in those saddle shoes that were popular in the USA .no way...stilleto heels or flats. (which took with us to the dances.)
Awesome Vid, awesome song. Was back at the early 80' s into the Teddyboy scene here in Germany. Love the music till today, but must change my outfit. The Job you knew ?
@@normanpolland713 whats NF or your nationality got to do with Teddy Boys? I might hurt your feelings but much of the original 50's Teddy Boy culture originated in Dublin. Many of the earliest Teddy Boys, even those in London, were Irish from the Republic. The Riverboat Gambler waistcoat style came from Irish Teddy Boys. It was the Irish Teddy Boys who introduced Country/Hillbilly music to the culture, such as Tennessee Ernie Ford, Hank Williams and Moon Mullican. This was before 1953. Otherwise the English Teddy Boys were still listening to Jazz and Big Band music.

Teddy Boy Style is the song, Streamline Rockers is the band.
It's a trip how Brits and Americans alike emulated one anothers music/culture styles.. like greasers there were mods here too in the late 70's/80's
