Is it just me, or did Sammy Hagar just play a killer in-the-pocket guitar solo without a bassist? Great classic rock chops and his voice is always great. Thanks Sammy!
Sammy definitely isn't Eddie..........but he just tore the lead part of this track up...........yeah I agree with you.........Sammy has a great ear for music.........he definitely doesn't need a metronome to play on beat
Stfu. What does not hsving a bass player have anything to do with it
I love how effortless Chad makes drumming look. Even the way he holds his sticks. It just seems loose and flowing. So many drummers look like they’re gripping the sticks for dear life. He just as this easy way of “sticking” that makes his drumming just flow. And Sammy sounds fanfuckingtastic for any age!
🎯
It's true, he is a very loose and relaxed player. I saw him play with his side band called " the meat bats " at the Gaslamp in south long beach, Ca in like 2014. It was a great chance to see a professional musician of his caliber play at a small venue which is usually occupied by cover bands. His feel and Dynamics are just incredible... years and years of playing. Great drummer!
@@clintjackson5091 Meatbats are the best. Seen then many times.
Staying relaxed is paramount for good technique and a good sound
I am in complete awe of how good Sammy still sounds as a singer. Love seeing these guys still rocking.
Saw him in 1975 with Montrose and they were fantastic. Journey opened for them with the original lineup and they were great as well....
Right On! Which very few have been able to do or can at the age of 70+ years old. I'd add "Glenn Hughes" & "Paul Rodgers" to that list of few who have held it down, & can still Rock the Mic!
Yep, he's tuned down a step, but the voice is still intact at that level
solid guitar too!
It's partly due to how he did the songs in the first place/what you are comparing it to. It's not auto-tuned, it's not theatrical, it's not perfect. It's not any of those things, it's real, and it still is. That's a big part of it.
Sammy looks like he found the fountain of youth he hasn't aged!!
KEEP ROCKIN YOU TWO!!!!!
Chad's timing is in the soul, blood and meat. You can see the whole vibe rolling out...
Sammy voice is AMAZING!!!!!
Awesome as usual. Sammy seems to be the real deal as a musician and a person.
Yep, likable, down-to-earth, straightforward, and genuine. And with a lifelong, kid-like enthusiasm for music.
Sammy IS the real deal. Great singer, guitarist, songwriter and person in general.
Rockstar right there and it always shows no matter what he’s doing.
That fill and guitar at 10:49 is so fucking incredible and smooth! Chad and Sammy are way connected!
Chad is my favorite modern era drummer. A lot of people say about Danny Carey and I agree, he's ridiculous, but it's a bit like the Peart/Bonham debate, but for me Bonham just has a sort of feel and swag about him, Chad's the same way for me.
Welcome to Chickenfoot!!
Give a listen, you’ll love it.
Second album…Three and a Half Letters. Sammy’s vocals and Chad killin’n the drums.
What a great guy Sammy is !!
That jam was great! Chad rocks and Sammy hasn't lost a step.
I find it continually amazing how well Sammy looks, plays and sings at 74 years old! I never knew Chad was from Detroit! Super cool drummer that plays to the song and doesn't overplay - Dig that. Genuine conversation and music, fellas!!
The red rocker, Still has it. Sammy and Chad, dynamic duo.
Class act!!! God bless Sammy Hagar and the many years of RnR he has giving us!!!
Love Bad Motor Scooter! Shout-out to the first Montrose album! Those were the days... yesss
Awesome! Sammy is shredding!
Man I would have LOVED to sit in on BASS with those two guys there!!🔊🔊😁🔥🔥👊🏽
Sammy still has it man.........................Chad is a bad ass skin pounder too. I had no idea Chad was from Michigan, I learn something new every day.
This reminds me of the great chemistry in RHCP concerts where Chad, Flea, and John just jam together while Anthony does his own thing.
Not a jam. Bad Motor Scooter by Ronnie Montrose 1973..... man..... this entire thread is full of poseurs.
@@MrPublicPain Dude, said "where Chad, Flea, and John just jam...". The absence of John and Flea in this specific performance should tell you that I'm not talking about this one.
Watching "A League of their Own", I was reminded that Madonna also is from Michigan.
Does he?
Great musicians and genuine nice guys! 🤟
Badass! U two just VIBE TOGETHER! U can see Chad is really LISTENING to Sammy when they are playing. What u play doesn’t have to be difficult,it just has to be the rite part!
These two rock together!
Sammy is, I'm not going to say underrated, but, he's an underappreciated guitarist. Seems like he gets better with age, love it
Thought I was watching the movie
Stepbrothers when Chad and Sammy
were jamming!! Awesome sound guys.
Another freaking Catalina Wine Mixer
Thank you Sammy and Chad for unforgettable memories.
I love just watching the two of them play their best !
I love chad’s point of view on being a good Musician! Probably Why he’s one of the best rock drummers of our time!
I like Chad. But over the years I kinda got bored of his playing. It's never evolved. It always stayed the same.
@@Renodrums-vq8nv thats what we need for rhcp
@@drgrasshopper9924 I agree. But if you notice in his other bands and when he does drum solos, Hes been playing the same fills and triplets for years. His drumming hasn't evolved at all. He's still a good player though.
Sammy should pursue a talk show, maybe the tonight show. I think a lot of people would watch it. He is one entertaining guy. I look forward to his podcasts and he is so well regarded in many circles.
ANYONE would be a step up from the liberal bs late night talk show CLOWNS we have now !
@@AudiophileTommy okay patriot lol
I'd call it "Dad Jam with Sammy" but actually yes.
@@russellzauner calling out the CRAPshow late night extremely biased B/S empty headed hosts !
@@AudiophileTommy Actually not empty headed, just coached into mediocrity as per network policy. I would bet all those late night hosts would be as honest as Howard Stern, except that would be their last day on the TV . Sammy couldn't pass the PC screen test. Too much honesty.
Yeah that's the song that got me started listening to you Sammy with Montrose! Great to see you keep Rockin.
From Boulder City Nevada 🤘
Have always been a guitar guy but watched "Count me In" on Netflix and now have a huge appreciation for drumming and it has totally changed how I listen to music. Chad was in the documentary and really gave a great insight into drumming along with the other drummers featured.
I could watch and listen to Chad all day, cool dude ,and monster behind the kit with those bombastic meat bats.
I like you more and more Sammy, damn cool man!
Sammy and Will Farrell reunited! Man these guys can rock it.....Chad is a phenomenal drummer.
Old guys!!! Showing these "Young Whipper Snappers" how its done!!
How great is that. I’m from CKLW territory. Kingsville Ontario. Chads not lying. Cheers folks!
Sammy Hagar is a legend!
Sammy, thank you for doing these. Really appreciate you being able to ask musicians these things as their friend and peer, that mutual love and respect is 👌🏽
Kudos to whoever mixed this. Sounds fantastic! Showcases both Sammy and Chad.
Been one of my favorite tunes all the way back to montrose.
🤘😎🤘 sammy still sounds awesome
i love the guitar solo and the good feeling !!! keep on rocking !!!
That was fkn damn good fellas! Chad is as smooth as hell on those drums. It just flows from his hands, plays so loose and smooth. Sammy still has it with his voice and playing.
They both seem like real guys. So cool to see
Love you Sam.Thanks Brother,Awesome stuff right there, Met you back stage in 83 ,You opened for ZZ,, Thanks for all the music and all the years, I play lead in my band and you really did help me get here, I loved you so much growing up..Im 52 now ,Lol and your still my Hero,
i listen to cklw all the time growing up in Michigan .
Yeah man, what he's talking about, growing up in the Detroit area in the 60's, CKLW out of Windsor was the powerhouse AM station we had our ear glued to for that endless parade of solid gold hits!
Windsor Ontario or is there also a Windsor on the other side ?
@@benallmark9671 yes it's Windsor, Ontario, across the Detroit River.
BADASS!!!⚡
Living in NW Ohio back in those days I also listened to CKLW AM. they actually had a lot of really good music.
One of my All time favorite songs! Bad Motor Scooter! I would love to hang with Sammy!
Totally true!!
I loved playing that song in so many bands over the years. I about jumped in on the bass. Lol
This rocks, especially the guitar solo in the end, awesome video
Cool interview with Chad! Couldn't help laugh at the 9:55 mark when the sound guy had to cover his ears when behind Chad🤣 Now that's Rock'n Roll to me 🥁😎👍
This was just awesome!
chad and sammy the rock and roll guru's of rock chads drumming and sammy guitar licks could solo by themselves master blasters of sound!!!!
sammy is the real deal..been one of my idols since 1980
I could listen to them jam all day
Awesome playing both
Sammy’s a really great meat and potatoes guitarist. Especially with that cool explorer
My favorite movie is Old School. Will Ferrell so talented
Wow..Beautiful kit Chadwick
I grew up listening to CKLW also in the 60's. We got them loud and clear across Lake Erie in the greater Cleveland OH area. I did not know CKLW was in Windsor Ontario. I always thought they were in Detroit.
Thx for posting.
Love these guys!
Chad did an extended, multipart interview with Charlie Watts a few years ago. It's on CZcams and it's fantastic.
Energetic.
I grew up with CKLW ....albeit in Ohio. That station had the strongest fricken signal. I know someone that grew up in Erie PA, and they grew up on CKLW.
Chad who? I’ve heard his music before, but I never heard it so simply. Sammy on the axe and Chad on the drums was just phenomenal. You can’t hide behind other instruments with just two or three players.
Outstanding, my hat is off to you two gentlemen.
Not a jam. Bad Motor Scooter by Ronnie Montrose 1973..... man..... this entire thread is full of poseurs.
@@MrPublicPain uh, Sammy Hagar wrote the song. The only poser I see here is you, a troll that doesn’t use his real name.
I love Sammy Hagar I’ve been watching this dude man I think 30 years plus the watch his career come full circle is pretty freaking cool and I love Chad Smith that guy can play he’s great with the peppers but I really like them with chicken foot two
Chad has a brother called Brad! That’s awesome
Don’t forget his genetic clone Will.
Stunning
Chad's lead-in at 9:34 was great!
I cant wait to see you guys in Philly I am So Stoked
I grew up in Royal Oak back in the day KIMBALL High school
Beautiful
Amazing vid!!
Two classy and awesome guys.
Carl Court in Lucas Valley....i used to jam in the warehouse behind him when he first pulls up with chad and ive been over in his studios many times as well, Sammy is one cool cat!!
Excellent
Wore out a couple of the "Montrose" 8-Track tapes before the cassette came out in the 70's.
Rockin!!!
CKLW!!! Grew up listening to that radio station in Cleveland.
What an unlikely pairing and great fit!
THAT was BADASS!!!
Rocking song
Legendary
CKLW, female programmer. The best AM radio channel on the planet!!!
SAMMY!!! I love you, man! Play more lead. I had literally forgotten what a bad ass you are!
Damn, I remember CK out of Windsor, I also recall Toby Redd, Chad's bar band. They were the best in the Detroit area bar scene.
Great jam
I grew up in Windsor and before FM came along CKLW was the real deal. It was one of the most powerful AM stations at that time. It was so cool to hear Chad talk about little old Windsor :-) Peace
Damn, Chad's movements are as fluid as I've seen.
What the Hell was this
Pure Jammin rockin
Woow sammy still got it
Rock on Red Rocker until the end of time
Dope!!!!!
cool interview
He looks SO much like Will Farrel, even when he's drumming. Can't unsee it
Love that they played an old Montrose song. Sounds as good as when he was 17.
Great jam...
Awesome 🆒️👍
Chad a hell of a drummer
Chad did alot of session work at studio A recording in Dearborn heights Michigan before moving to California in 1988
That was bad ass
lead guitar and drums, cool sound. 10:16
