He's finished narratively speaking. Nas wasn't, Nas still had stuff to say and still had something to prove so he's eligible for his 2nd run and still be hungry. He had to be known for more than just 'Illmatic'
Em' already had his 2nd run during 'Relapse' to 'MMLP2' which was stopped by the terrible 'Revival'. His story is done, now he's just side questing
If he wants a 3rd run then he'll need something to fuel that fire. Otherwise he's just been chilling for the last 10 years.

If Eminem’s prime is “Slim Shady”, “Marshall Mathers”, “Eminem Show” era then Eminem is not even close to his prime. He’s like Michael Jordan, MJ’s prime was in 90s but has a GOAT status now living off his legacy.

Eminem is literally 50 years old. His true prime is his first 4 albums, SSLP through Encore those were the years that made Eminem the timeless icon in rap we know him to be today. He was still near the top of his game on his next 3 projects but his prime ended definitively after MMLP2 in 2013. Not to say that hes produced 0 quality music in a decade, bunch of kamikaze and other features go crazy in recent years but as an overall artist, nah its laughable that this was even a discussion

The moment they mentioned Joey I felt the same way. He just started off too good, and he was with a crew full of peers who pushed him to go hard. And I think most of the guys who aren't in their prime suffered from losing that competition from their friends and peers who made them strive for greatness.

Rocky is still in his prime. You look at all his recent live performances and the energy is still top tier. Fans are still extremely hungry for new music. Though he hasn’t dropped any albums, he’s still been on the scene with features and singles. He’s one of very few artists that can go on long hiatuses and still have loyal fans .

Drake's singing has really fallen off in a lot of cases but he's in his prime for lyricism, just people don't want that it seems because they're always the least streamed on the albums.
Drake is completely out of his prime, it's one of the takes I completely disagree with them. Drake has been more mainstream, he used to be #1 monthly listeners on Spotify and he isnt anywhere close anymore. Regardless of the decrease in his mainstream success, the qualities of his albums has dropped off significantly - we will never see the Take care, nwts, iyrtitl quality ever again. He is driven more by the money than he is by the competition bcos arguably he has done it all already. Having album like honestly nevermind, clb and mixtapes like dark lane demos just shows the drop off. And his pen game has elevated? When have you heard him rap like he did on 5 am in Toronto, 4pm in calabasas, tuscan leather, energy e.t.c. he has had the odd lyrical masterclass but its one song per album cycle that comes remotely close to the old drake. He is far far past his prime and there is not return.

I feel like Eminem could still drop another great album, the thing is that there’s just not as much going on in his life as there once was. Back then he had all of his anger towards his mother, father and the media, as well as his come up to fame, etc. But now all of those things are seemingly resolved (at least for the most part). Still possible for him to make quality, it’s just I don’t know what he could do at this point.
I think that's the problem. A true artist doesn't have to have a life disaster to create a master piece. A true artist will do it in all phases of life.

Eminem is never gonna top his first three albums, commercially or artistically, his prime was 2002. But he's still having fun making music, and I enjoy a lot of it, Darkness was some of the best writing by any artist period. The day he drops his last album will be a sad day for me and millions of people around the world. Give the man his flowers before he hangs it up.

If Big Sean and Em both dropped a fire ass album, everybody would be talking about it. Even if they have truly fell off, they'll still remain in my top 10 for years to come. The thing with Eminem is he needs better production & fall back from that heavy punchline flow & fast rap style he’s been doing for some time. Get Dre back in the studio and have him push out the best in Em. I would say Alchemist should collab with him but it would have worked better in the Relapse/Recovery era in 2010. Also, what has played a role in Em’s decline was the drug addiction back in 06 during Encore, Proof’s death & D12 splitting up and himself saying he had to start from square one all over again with the rapping which explains why he’s been so heavily focused on the technical ability of his lyricism instead of working putting out solid pieces of work

As a former stan (8th grade was cringe), I can now see how bad Revival, Recovery, Encore, etc. were (I still own MTBMB on vinyl and I'm never repenting my love of Kamikaze though). Uzi is my favourite rapper, and while i still really enjoy his new music, it hasnt hit the same as his older music. His voice sounds different now and he doesnt use his signature flow switches as much. You can tell when a song was recorded just by his vocals.
