In this portion, Israel leaves Egypt with a “boldness” or a “high hand”. But after only a few days of freedom, many in Israel had a different outlook when they realized the Egyptian army was coming after them in hot pursuit. Even at the moment when complete deliverance is at hand, there will be those who are unwilling to believe God. Our attitude and deeds very often says to God, “What have you done for me lately?” We are quick to dismiss or minimize what God has already done.
