- "They're THIS close, Pierce!"
(This is the last time I'm uploading this. If I missed any other Regionals references, too bad)
From season 3, episode 10 - "Regional Holiday Music" (I own nothing, all due credit to Sony and NBC) - Zábava
re-gion-als (rē'-jə-nəlz) n. DEFINITION: They're THIS CLOSE, Pierce.
masternachos good one!
I'd just like to point out that, at the time of this reply, my comment has 557 likes; which is almost HALF as many likes as the clip itself (1.2k).
You people give me reason to live.
But what are regionals?
I'm always more likely to like a comment than a post for some reason
@@dalekkiller they were THIS close!
Gawd, I love Dan Harmon for taking the piss out of glee
greenadrenaline6405 I know, right? They even had the pianist!
Pierce perfectly captured the confusion many people watching Glee felt. I could never keep track of all their stupid competitions.
Mick Nat
And the shitty covers of good songs
I DON'T GET THE APPEAL!
"We only watched the shows SHE wanted to watch! I HATE "Glee"! I don't understand the appeal!"
"don't let my confusion undercut their importance"
This is why i like Pierce.
omg yesss
Shamalama Dingdong that’s why he quit..
Yoyo
Yeah, it sucks that Harmon did that. He was a great character
@@rnathanielryaan2034 they made him closer to the actor's personality
@@overheat97 Harmon didn't really "do" it, everybody on the show hated working with him and he dropped a racial slur towards a crew member on set which forced his hand.
"Regionals" doesn't seem like a real word any more after hearing it so many times.
I wonder if it's just a shortened version of Regina Hall's name. Or fans of Regina Halls. Or something naughty about Reggie Mantle. .... Those two should have a TV show. "Reg and Reg". Then they could go back in time to guest on Mr. Philbin's show.
It's called semantic satiation.
because that's not a real place
BOWL
Jiminy Jillickers!
They're THIS close, Pierce!
"Don't let my confusion undercut their importance"
Pierce was hilarious, a pity Chase didnt see it
Yeah that's pretty sad, but at least we can appreciate the character of pierce throughout 3 amazing seasons and some episodes of a mediocre 4th one
Pierce was also a genuinely great character and has some genuinely great emotional moments. Like the “Good luck, Pierce” “Don’t need it, Never had it” bit
Pierce was great in season 1 and parts of season 3.
In season 2 it was obvious Harmon let his issues with Chase affect the portrayal of the character.
It’s also a pity he was just left with racist and sexist jokes. Jokes like his regionals joke were what made Pierce bearable.
@@Quantum_Magnus If almost everyone around the show is to be believed...the racist and sexist jokes were straight from Chevy Chase's mouth most of the time. What he didn't like and understand was that his best stuff was the out of touch old man stuff...
Regionals
Sectionals
Semis
Semi-Regionals
Regional-Semis
National Lower Zone Semis
... Yeah but what are Regionals?
They're the thing before Sectionals. Duh-DOY!
They're THIS close, Pierce.
sounds like a bunch of trucks
Aww you forgot the one where Abed tells Britta "This will help us get to regionals!" and she says "I knew it!"
Technically, the first "regionals" was in Season 2's fake clip show when the head of the barbershop class(?) tells Jeff "Nice job, Mr. Winger. Somebody's going to regionals." (Quote may be wrong, but he definitely said 'regionals'.)
That’s my favorite one 😂
Dean-"And to think they were this close to regionals!"
Pierce-"What the hell are regionals?"
Dean-"They're THIS close Pierce"
I started watching Community in 2014 and when I saw joke in Regional Holiday Music i literally couldn't stop laughing. In 2012, I test-watched an episode of glee and heard someone say "regionals" and I was like, "what the hell are regionals". This episode was made for me.
"...But you Pierce? Your generation invented music."
I dont know about invented. Perfected maybe.
Too bad the Glee Club died in a bus accident
orly4672 "Accident"...
Accidents happen, Captain.
Accidents don't just happen accidentally!
Maybe they slipped on the same banana as the O'Doyles.
Hey, at least they got a cool new bus driver.
As a former Gleek, I really appreciated this episode. That is literally what "Glee" sounds like.
Luthien Megido me too. i was in choir in community college and before that i loved glee. until one day i realized it was a dumb teen soap opera and it was super cheesy and i didn't care.
Season 1 was excellent then season 2 started out alright before it dragged the show slowly and painfully down the pooper.
Mandi Lu yeah I used to love Glee but halfway through season 2 it got absolutely awful and I gave up. Same happened with Big Bang Theory. I got through 5 seasons and it started sucking, then I found community. The greatest show in the world.
Community, Galavant, some of the greatest shows to grace the silver screen, are so underrated and get cancelled due to low ratings. :/ Glee had potential but for some reason they had to try and squeeze every social justice issue into their plots instead of making it more character driven.
The first 13 episodes of GLEE, which ends with them winning sectionals, Sue being suspended, Will being reinstated as director of New Directions, Will ditching his wife, and Emma and her fiance calling off their engagement, were perfect television. And it ended nicely, too. Then the show went on hiatus in December 2009 for the winter break, and in that time, the show became a phenomenon. The soundtrack of the first half of the season also became an instant bestseller. I think all of that influenced the second half of the first season and what came afterward, because when Season One resumed in April 2010, it was another animal entirely. Suddenly, there were too many fantasy song sequences and episodes devoted entirely to an artist's discography for no reason other than to sell more albums of their covers. That's when it died for me and I stopped watching. But to this day I still watch the first half of the first season, which could've/should've been a movie of its own.
Fun fact: As competitions, regionals are the second level, sectionals come first.
However, Taran Killam says later that "if we win regionals, then it's straight up to sectionals", implying that they haven't won anything at all. Sure, it's the nonesense of it all, but that means everytime they say "we are THIS CLOSE to regionals", they are saying "we are THIS CLOSE to signing up by filling and sending the application".
I mean it makes sense since the last two groups of glee club died in a bus crash and then had a mental breakdown
I mean, everyone knows that it’s sectionals, then regionals, then nationals. Also, I think they would need at least 12 people to qualify.
"...I thought this was regionals? ...don't let my confusion undercut their importance!"
National lower zone semis!
akuffo96
We can only dream, right?
If you were there for the cancellation rollercoaster this show took you on, then that last part was maybe the sadest in the whole show, because we didnt know if we were gonna see them after regionals.
God I love Community …
pfft, this is so inaccurate. everybody knows its sectionals THEN regionals
And then semis...then semi-regionals! We're running short on time, we have to prepare!
That's the joke
To this day I will never understand why semiregionals are two tiers _above_ regionals.
I love Troy's face when he talks about regionals after their rap
That entire episode is hilarious.
1:11 Abed and Annie are holding hands. Didn’t realize that.
I started watching Community in 2014, I recuperated previous episodes...and now I'm addicted. :) Happy to be
7 people are mad that Greendale Glee Club didn't make it to regionals.
those 7 approve of your comment.
Leonard likes this post.
What the hell are Regionals?..
American Zero they were THIS CLOSE, pierce
0:48 I love Abed’s outfit. The royalty look really suits Danny Pudi.
ANNIE AND ABED AT THE END!!!!
Laura Brown I know, right???
Annie and Abed in the morning! That sounds dirty for some reason 😂
This was really great!
Regionals
If you have to ask, you're streets behind
Pierce Hawthorne, asking some real questions, as usual.
As a fellow glee lover that was told about this episode through a community fanatic, I couldn't stop laughing! Wish I seen the entire thing. Xp
It's missing Britta's "Will this help us get to Regionals?"
AND "Someone's going to Regionals!" from Paradigms of Human Memory
As a Gleek, I loved this episode!
I will cry if Community doesn't air the rest of the episodes. IMHO best comedy on TV.
- and to think they were this close to regionals :(
- what the hell are regionals?
- THEY'RE THIS CLOSE PIERCE
@ChelseatheHolmesian I can't imagine they have anything better to air than this. Community is tv gold, with some of the best comedy actors of the moment all gathered into one. Besides we need at least 4 seasons, that's 4 years of college and graduation.
From my previous Glee-watching experience: Regionals are a competition for the whole... region. Sectionals are bigger. Then Nationals. All the others are jokes - and I have ABSOLUTELY NO IDEA how big a "region" is supposed to be.
noo Sectionals is smaller than regionals
Regionals is in sport too, used to be the second stage for athletics then state then national.
Don't let my confusion undermine it
BEst glee parodi and one of the best community eps ever!
Is it just me or does jeff look right at the camera in the end? makes this scene so much more meaningful
I always ask that question to a Gleek.
And their reaction is priceless
@MrKevinWM Unfortunately, that's not how networks decide on whether or not a show gets cancelled. It's all based on ratings, and because Community is in the same air time as The Big Bang Theory, it's not doing so well.
Community is starting to look like the Firefly of comedy :(
Seriously, what the hell are regionals!?
Community Season 3, Episode 10: "Regional Holiday Music" (December 8, 2011)
What The *HELL* are Regionals!?
Jared Kushner’s second most convincing performance
Dean is so awsome!
Pierce almost got murdered on a bus by the look in mr. Rads eyes
Awesome!
National lower zone semis are a really big deal where I’m from.
Well, I don't know about invented... Perfected, maybe!
Seriously, what are regionals? It's a real thing isn't it? Is it like some regional competition? What is a region in the U.S?
Sectionals?
Semis?
Semi regionals?
Regionals semis?
National lowe zone semis?
Those last things can't be real things right?
Abed was the true hero here
a competition between teams in a designated region...
Huh? Both shows are hilarious! Thank God for On Demand/Hulu.
What the hell are regionals
The fact that semi-regionals are somehow after regular regionals
@ChelseatheHolmesian Ah, yes you're right. I knew I'd miss one somewhere. Oh well, close enough!
As a non American kid I never was really knew what regionals were or how serious any of it was supposed to be.
i just realized annie and abed are holding hands!
really really want to see a video of annies song to convince jeff.. really really want
0:47 nice save XD
to awnser your question Pierce, regionals are the superbowl of school music groups.
0:52 this is how I felt when I tried watching Glee
I’m just curious as to what happens before Regionals. Pre-regionals? How does this competition even work?
Too soon!
Dong let my confusion undercut their importance - Me with US Politics
🎶Ree-eee-jah-nells🎶
Abed, this is what we do. This is who we are! (complete with creepy as fuck facial expression)
0:40 I pretty much zoned out after Annie in her sexy Christmas outfit. Once you've seen it, there's no focusing on anything else.
I still wanna know what the hell regionals are
Thanks for putting this together! I think the only one you missed was when Abed told Britta that her being the Mouse King would help them get to regionals.
Annie is so Rachel in the last scene
ReDEENals.
Gyus really what the hell are regionals
regionals are important
Did they ever give a actual answer?
A friend of mine said this show is like the male equivalent of Glee. I should send him all of the videos where Community insults Glee. What ARE Regionals? Seriously.
1:02 you cut off the best part "Glee is forever"
did you have to cut off deck the halls?
What are regionals
They're THIS close
Are Abed and Annie holding hands in the end?
Why hasn't anyone uploaded Annie's song from this episode? :(
It caused too many National Lower Zone Semis
