This is one of my favorite episodes. Rarely do we see someone stick to their budget and the repercussions that come with that decision. It’s a glimpse of real life, extreme talent, and the wisdom of knowing when to walk away. I hope this home is now finished and the owners appreciate the rich history, stunning landscape, and architectural genius of this unique space.

A creative way of recycling an old building that may very well have been torn down.
His friend was there for him -financially speaking-when he needed it the most, added gratitude into the the very fibre of the love already there in an amazingly special home. Putting the sauna in that dip was a brilliant idea.

A great example of the renovation of a ruin with historic value, resulting in a delightfully quirky residence for an individual or minimalist couple set admids gorgeous coastal surrounds. Apparently the home was placed for sale in 2018 for 250k and as of today's date is no longer available. If it has new owners, congratulations, I'm a little envious and as for the hard working owner, all the best for future endeavours. Please save another!

    Loved this
While not nearly as old as this Ice House. Growing up, I remember my grandfather would come to pick me up early in the morning every July4th. The job? Go to the ice house in the next town to pick up a twenty five pound block of ice. This was the late 60's early 70's. It gave me more time to spend with my grandfather. I loved getting to hear his stories about him growing up. The Great Depression, WWII, and his life after the war. I never once saw him angry or cross with anyone.
We would buy a 25 pound block and we'd put it in the trunk of his car on a piece of carpet for the trip back. We'd bring it home and put it in the sanitary sink in the basement. Then it was my job to break out the ice pick and chop it into pieces so we could put all of our drinks on ice for the parade that came down his street. Now, many people would just buy bags of ice from 7/11. But this was actually cheaper than that and it gave me more time to spend listening to his days as a merchant marine on the Atlantic Ocean during the war.
Why so early? We had to be back 7 as the police would shut down his street since it was part of the parade route, which started at 8

Think the show should give him the 40K to finish it, since he was talked into an expensive ass glass setup. Wonder how much the kickback was selling him on the glass, you just don't show up with a working model and pitch a glass like that out the blue.

The best place to make a home is in the ground. There is an awesome video with this old guy who was a back to the land hippy and he made a bundle on a book about it. He came up with the formula. There

There is a woman named Kristan or something that has a channel about people with interesting solutions for coming up with a place to live and her kids are often running around in the videos. I love her videos.
