Teenage drummer covers PNEUMA by TOOL

  • I recently performed Pneuma with a cover band I’m in and a lot of people said they wanted to hear the drums better. This was my first take playing along to the ‪@DrumeoOfficial‬ drumless track, so it’s not nearly a perfect take but I thought people might like to get a closer look at what I’m playing!
    If you want to see my bands performance, check out ‪@DrGsVidz‬ channel for that as well as a few other covers we’ve done!
    The audio was recorded using an iPhone and the track was played through an amp using Bluetooth. I also noticed a slight ringing that came from the electronic drum I’m using. Suffice to say, the audio isn’t perfect but I plan on eventually trying to get some mics to make the audio quality much better.

    Please don't ever quit playing drums. You are seriously talented and could become a successful musician as long as you keep at it. I gave up after high school due to logistical reasons and have regretted it ever since. That was 20 years ago. I still play today and am decent, but I've lost most of my chops and never invested the time I needed to grow and improve.
    Don't be me! You and your band members are all talented. Keep playing.

      @@hashbashI’ll check him out! I’ve heard his name mentioned for sure. And as far as my open-handed playing goes, I got to give credit to my dad for that. He’s a left handed drummer and open handed playing seemed like more practical than a full lefty setup (especially if he ever wanted to play on anyone else’s kit) so he got me to try it out too. I sometimes switch to cross over when I play with my schools jazz band but I love being able to play open for my kit at home!

  • @Zimmeuw
    @Zimmeuw Před 16 dny

    Awesome performance man.
    Since you are playing on an electronic kit you might want to look into the methods it offers to record your playing. In many cases these kits can connect directly to your pc. This enables tons of options when combined with some recording software (Which can be expensive, but I'm pretty sure some very good freeware is not difficult too find).
    If you load the drumless track into this recording software and make it play and record your drums as a separate track, you will end up with your playing synced to what you are actually hearing in your headphones. In most cases this is cheaper than investing in microphones, and (opinions may differ) could offer better quality as you would be monitoring the signal from your kit directly instead of indirectly with the mic (where positioning and acoustics will influence quality of result signal)
    Maybe you already know this, or even know better what you want than me, and this isn't of use to you. I just read your description and thought maybe it would help you save a few bucks.

    • @cassiodrummer
      @cassiodrummer  Před 6 dny

      Oh thanks! I actually already ended up getting a mic set for as cheap as I could and it sounds pretty decent! I have an old 8 channel mixer that I can use for recording (and then getting those tracks on my computer for further mixing once I get a DAW, which I’ve found some free ones that might work for now). For the electronic drum I use I can get a direct out into one of the line inputs on the mixer which is great as well, but I’ll have a bit more trouble shooting to do once I get some midi electronic drums. Luckily I’m only in highschool and can use a lot of the money I make working part time for this gear though cause you’re totally right, it adds up fast!

      @cassiodrummer  Před měsícem +2

      I’ve been telling people I’ve been working on this for a year and a half but I just realized time has gone quicker than I thought- I tried to learn the first verse and chorus almost 2.5 years ago, but the rest was too complicated and I didn’t have the chops for the solo. I stopped practicing it for over a year while I did highschool drumline so my chops improved a lot, and when I finally revisited this song a few months ago I learned the rest in a couple of weeks. Whether or not I put tons of hours into this song specifically isn’t necessarily important- I still put hundreds of hours into building all of the skills that I directly needed to play this song. I’ve also been learning a lot of other tool songs for about a year now so I’ve gotten much better at learning Danny’s drum parts quickly cause there are some skills or stylistic things that he does a lot in all of the songs.
