I am absoutley loving this Big Adventures mash up of brands. All of them accent each other so well and put out stuff that just makes sense. Very excited to see what they do in the future.
I agree they have a good thing going over there.
I just bought my first kayak today and this is the one I chose. I was going to buy one from Dick's but decided to check out my local kayak shop and I feel like I'll be much happier in the long run. I'm a new fan of your channel and looking forward to seeing more videos from you. 👍👍
Excellent walk through.
Awesome little rec boat.
Thoughtfully appointed, with sealed bulkhead and a THERMOFORM OPTION!
Grand Slam!!!
That was my thoughts. And it exceeded my expectations on paddling performance. I’m a fan!
Dang it - Way to throw that curve ball into my already existing kayak dilemma of which one to upgrade to 😂😂
The Saluda is definitely worth considering!
awesome review, i was checking this one out. thanks!
I've been wondering how long it was gonna take you to do a review of this boat. While I patiently waited. I absolutely love this boat. I e been in the market for another sit inside. It looks like they took a lot of design ideas from the bonafide ex123 that I've also been looking at but I like the fact this is smaller and lighter. I would love to see more on this lovely kayak
I’ve been looking at purchasing 2 eddyline kayaks. The Rio and a skylark. Your mention of the prima gives me another option to consider. Thanks
Yea but it’s not comparable. The Prima is more like the Sandpiper. The Rio is more of a mini touring kayak. Where are you from? I can help arrange some test paddles if your on the West Coast.
I live in Indio Ca. (Coachella valley). However we go to Orange County several times a year. The Rio I’m considering for my wife who is 5’3” and the skylark for myself.
I've been wondering about the yellow kayak stands you use. Did you make them yourself or did you buy them somewhere? Thank you for another great review! I've learned a lot from watching your videos!
Btw, the headwater kayak url in the video description seems to be missing an m at the end? It currently ends in .co instead of .com. Some of your previous videos have the same issue.
Thanks for the heads up on the lane called fix that. The stands I use are made by suspendz. They are bomber!
Need to See a Review on That Prima ASAP,Please! 😃
I hope I get to try one!
@HeadwatersKayak So when car-topping one of these roto (or thermo) kayaks that have the huge cockpits, how should you strap it down? Do you pull the straps around the ends of the coaming no matter how long the cockpit is to avoid stress on the rim? My bars are 36" apart but these cockpits are up to 55" long.
Great review Dan. I’m in the market for a second kayak, I have a Eddyline Skylark but I want a polyurethane kayak for camping and throwing on and off the truck. How would you compare this to the Pungo 120? Where can we get the kayak in the Sacramento/Lodi area?
I’ve never met you but I started my kayaking by renting from your Lodi location. I wanted to buy my Skylark from you but you didn’t have any in stock. Maybe I can get the Sakura 12 from you if you’re stocking them. Thanks again for all the great videos.
Want to buy my demo at a discount? I think Lodi Paddlesports stocks them, but not 100% sure
@@HeadwatersKayak I’d like to look at it to compare with the Pungo. If I liked I would buy at a discount. Let me know if you’re in the Lodi area anytime soon.
Awesome boat but I wonder how it stands up against some others in that price range. Gotta admit I love my Pungo 125
I’ve paddled pretty much everything in this class and this was way up there in the “fun to paddle” rankings. Pungos are good boats too!
I have been paddling for about three months now, using Pelican Mustang 120x, and loving it. As my experience has increased, been thinking about an upgrade to help me go on longer trips, get some more speed, and simply increase the fun factor.
Would the Saluda 12 be enough of an upgrade, or should I look towards a little more touring-style kayaks, like Tampico 130 for example? Not ready for a 24" hull at this point!
The Saluda is sweet! If you buy thermoform I’d go for an Eddyline. The designs and build are a little stouter and sleeker.
Dan, in your opinion, how would you compare it to the Old Town Loon or a Pungo as far as seat comfort and tracking?
I’m glad you asked that question. I’m curious to know for myself. I’ve ordered a Pongo loon and Sorrento to test out head to head with this.
@@HeadwatersKayak that'll be a good video
How does this paddle compare to the Bonafide EX123
Where can you get one of those balls to aid using bungees for a paddle park?
I can see the hatch hinges breaking over time.
Did you ever review the Ocean Trident 13 or 15?
I’ve paddled them both but never reviewed them.
@@HeadwatersKayak Well the 15 is on my short list based on me being a recreational paddler, but want some more range and speed, but have too stiff legs for sit inside solution.
Not really interested in the fishing ability, but that might change. Do you have any initial thoughts on this kayak? Or maybe a review might pop up on your channel some time?
Does Headwaters Adventure Company carry the Sakura 12?
They do not. Blue Zone Sports in Tahoe does.
How does it compare to the bonafide x123 since they're now under the same family
Should paddle a lot better but not as stable
It paddles so much nicer. Faster, better glide, and more nimble for sure. The Bonafide is more stable and better for fishing.
Since Liquidlogic makes their hulls all shiny like thermo yaks, do they go any faster than other rotomolded PE kayaks?
I don’t think so, but the hull design is very efficient.
@@HeadwatersKayak Would it be impossible to self-rescue in this boat? I mean, could you stick the paddle through the rear hatch bunjees?
it is a combination of bonafide 123 and the pungo
Exactly!
That's a nice boat for 12'
