Love Brian Silvey! So much knowledge and he has such a great way of teaching on the water. He knows just how to correct problems and always chills the situation. He’s relaxed. Also has an uncanny way of calling shots. On Deschutes, he’ll tell you just how to cast a particular complex section, especially as shown here, the close-in ones where the steelhead are high in a run. Then, bam. There goes the line. He just puts his hands in his waders, makes a funny comment, and waits for you to bring it in. Fantastic guide and double-handed ambassador. 😊
His recommendation @12:16 is really important. It’s a great on-the-water quick fix when your casting has issues. If you’re pulling the anchor, just add in more overhang. If you’re over-sticking it, bring the head back toward the tip for less overhang.
