I second this. Circle with me one take is a must if you intend to do another Spiritbox video. I saw other comments with "Holy Roller" and "Blessed Be". Holy Roller is a much heavier song (No clean vocals). Id go with 'Blessed Be' before 'Holy Roller'. haha

I eat my words on my initial comment and assessment of Courtney LePlant and Spiritbox with regard to her screaming in this song. After listening to it a few more times, this woman kicks ass on her vocals (screaming technique) and the band is as tight as they come! And, as always, Anna does a superb job with her analysis and reaction.

Courtney and her husband were in a band called I Wrestled A Bear Once, they typically had a lot more of a pop sound. I really enjoy the more matured sound and writing from her in Spiritbox.
this is probably the first time i've heard Finnish spoken in long uninterrupted sentences. it sounds really pretty to the English-speaking ear. Anyway, I really enjoyed your analysis section of Courtney's singing. It's interesting to hear a breakdown of the vocal techniques she uses. As others have mentioned she does a one-take of Circle With Me that is very good but you should also check out their other songs. You really can't go wrong.

The roar is like the sound of an animal protecting something important: food, cubs, territory. Not just sound extraction, as a trick for a change. And technically, it looks like a primate growl.

Interesting singer and band ! I'm from Canada and this the first time I've heard them ! To me they are definitely are a hard metal core based group ! Courtney sounds like a very good singer with many nuances, inflections and certainly dynamics in her voice ! I'm certainly not a fan of the in your face screaming and growling but I understand its impact in their type of music ! I'd say the most impressive thing is her ability to go from screaming back to a clean beautiful voice so quickly ! That's hard to do I can imagine ! Anna as always you are so good at reacting and giving me the vocal analysis that makes sense ! It's not easy to comment with so much going on ! I'm not a fan of this music but I can appreciate their efforts and hard work in performing this genre of music ! Great reaction Anna of Spiritbox. Awesome! The band seems to have bit of an Evanescence quality/style "Bring Me to Life" for example, but with more growling/screaming. I look forward to more reviews Anna.

Welcome back to the heavy stuff. Courtney is a powerhouse. Angel and demon in the same person. And the band itself is fire 🔥
If you want to get down the rabbit hole with them, get ready, they are very versatile and you will find something different in every track. Vocally you have songs with just cleans, just screams, or mix of both, but the common thing is Courtney always kills it.
Next i would suggest Constance or Blessed be.

Her voice is intentionally ethereal, mostly to sound like the recorded version. In the recorded version, she did all the verses last, so the sung choruses and harsh vocals left her voice “tired,” giving this same sort of effect.
Definitely check out her one take of their song Circle With Me. The ending gives me chills.

I've also discovered both Spiritbox and Jinjer with the last 3-4 months and even though I was never a fan of the metalcore genre of music with scream/growl vocals, the combination of Courtney and Tatiana's incredible ability to seamlessly transition back and forth from beautiful angelic regular singing to some of the best scream/growl harsh vocals I've heard in females or males and the bands great songwriting, musicianship and production have made me a big fan of both bands (although, I'm still not a fan of their songs in which they're screaming throughout the entire songs or other similar bands with male vocalists). I do have to say that you briefly confused me during the video because when I heard you start speaking Finnish I turned on the captions, but as I was looking at the captions when you first stopped the video to give a comment, a couple seconds went by and I realized "Hey, now she's speaking English"! 🤣😁 I wish I thought of the comment by Laura that you pinned "It's time for Finnish and then some English. And then some Finnish and more English." because it is hilarious!
BTW, I forgot to mention that I love your analysis of her vocals. I've been a keyboardist and vocalist for decades and I would be confident in analyzing the music portion of a song, but not the details of someone's vocal technique (I barely know what I'm doing when I sing!)

This is a great video! You're clearly knowledgeable on this subject, I appreciate the captions when you speak Finnish (and your English is basically perfect), and you enjoyed the music as much as I'd want someone to.
Most people recommend only the popular stuff, but I think The Beauty of Suffering is one of their best songs and there's a performance video of that. And at some point, you should definitely watch the whole band performing The Mara Effect, I think it's one of the best music videos on CZcams.

Her facial postures seem to be very different compared to Tatyana from Jinjer who really doesn't seem to change no matter if it's clean singing or screaming. Obviously means something but I'm not a voice coach so I have no clue what.

I'd recommend "Constance" because it's a completely different song than this one, so I think you will find it interesting. Perhapsthe most different among all their ones. Otherwise Blessed Be is more similar to this one but probably one of the best. Unrelated: I'd also recommend trying the band Bloodywood. As songs: Yaad and Jee Veerey. They just seem perfect for your channel and while the band name might make you think of some harsh sounds, without spoiling much, I'll just say that's not the case. There's a good reason why they got million views from being nobodies :D

The band is LOVEBITES, a power/thrash metal band from Japan. They are an all female metal band(sing in English), they are multi talented, lyrics are really good, and they will shred your face off. The music is great. Courtney LePlante has a smooth and warm texture to her vocals but in my own personal opinion, I think that the growls could have been eliminated. I just don't think that this song called for it. Just saying...
