  • Today we've got an incredible find for you all... a 100% original 1958 Gibson Les Paul Custom with a trio of incredible PAF pickups and a factory Bigsby to top it off! This is a wonderful piece of Gibson history and just such a rare find that we're blown away having it in the shop. A beautiful black finish on the body, ebony fret board, generous amounts of gold hardware (including the Bigsby), well aged binding all around and of course the cool Custom diamond logo on the headstock. We're sure you'll fall in love with this guitar just as much as we have, especially when Karl plugs it in to this cranked up and awesome Fender '59 Bassman Ltd reissue amplifier!

    I don’t always think that these old Gibsons sound as great they are hyped up to be. 9 times out of 10 I feel like you can get a better sounding guitar for 1/10 the cost, BUT this one lives up to the hype.

    Sound is always excellent. I think the amps are often running beyond their sweet spot though, going into fizzy overdrive, which personally I only want when I switch a fuzz pedal on, which isn’t often. Dial the amp back, so it’s not collapsing at full guitar volume and nice and clean at 4 or 5.

      Well the original Bluesbreakers were 59 Bassman circuits built with the British military electronics and valves that Jim Marshall had available to him so this was the closest fender amp to a Marshall. Though I do get what your saying, but this amp broken in a little would be one of the best amps to pair this guitar with and is one of the reasons I had to click on this video. I would like to hear this thing plugged into an ODS

    • @Slammintone
      @Slammintone Před 2 lety

      It’s adjustable but believe me there’s two very good reasons to keep the gap. One, it allows heat to vent from the chassis which gets quite hot, and two when that back panel is in contact with the chassis you get some loud and annoying buzzes as the cab vibrates and rattles against it.

    • @Slammintone
      @Slammintone Před 2 lety +1

      I felt the same after trying out a new ‘59 LTD Bassman. It was loud and spikey and much too trebly in person. Ridiculous. I could not understand the appeal one bit.
      But! That changed after my first experience with a Victoria 45410. The most heavenly gorgeous cleans and a full blooming midrange and a deep killer low end. Also, amazing overdrive that’s not splattery like the reissue LTD.

    • @jessepeikoff7978
      @jessepeikoff7978 Před 2 lety +3

      I think part of people not liking these amps is that they have an unusual eq curve. You need to dime the mids, bass off and treble on 2 or 3. If you set everything on 5-6 like a blackface or typical fender type amp, it sounds awful.
