Would You Tour Alice Springs? (After Seeing This) 🇦🇺

So recently, Alice Springs hasn't been in the news for very positive reasons (for a few years actually lol). Daily vandalism, car theft, home break-ins, as well as other skullduggery have drastically hurt the town's tourist industry, economy and reputation. Well, today I thought I'd give it a boost. Here's a brief overview of all the town's hotspots. I failed to get the town's CBD (central business district) due to time constraints from the monsoon rains, as we left a day early to avoid flooding on the roads. Next time I plan on visiting the town center and getting footage of that.

It's rare to experience wet weather in Central Australia. If there is ongoing rain, I would recommend that you travel to Uluru. Rain on the Rock is a very rare experience! The rock at Simpson's Gap is red sandstone. Sandstone makes up most of the beautiful geological features in Central Australia. I guess you like to hike, so I'd also recommend a trip to King's Canyon (in the native language "Watarrka"). There is a six kilometer walk up around the rim of the canyon. It's an amazing place. If you swim across the twenty meter deep pool at the "Garden of Eden" there, you can look out over the canyon edge and see the country heading for Western Australia. You probably won't see any sign of civilization unless there happens to be a road train heading west.

We did go down to Uluru shortly afterwards and that's in my next vid! (rain on Uluru) We did think about King's Canyon but didn't have enough time for it:(

Back in September 1998, I drove 10,500 kilometers around Australia with my wife (who passed away in 2015) and my daughter and son, who were ten and five years old respectively at the time. We traveled from our home in Newcastle New South Wales up to North Queensland, across into the Northern Territory, down to South Australia, and back home via western Victoria and New South Wales. While at King's Canyon, I swam across the twenty meter deep pool at the Garden of Eden there, and sat on a rock there looking out over the escarpment towards the way to Western Australia. I've never felt closer to the Creator anywhere in the world than I did there.
