I just wanted to reach out and say that I recently stumbled upon your new video about the latest web browsers and I must say, it was really impressive! Your insights and analysis were spot-on, and I found myself learning a lot from it. Keep up the great work!

    removing the mullvad extension would not be a great idea because the whole goal is to follow the tor philosophy of everyone having the same ones installed for fingerprinting purposes.

    What would you say is the difference between using Librewolf and Librewolf Private/Incognito mode? Librewolf Private mode is basically the same as Mullvad, but Normal Librewolf isn't because it saves logins. Is that the main difference other than the default-philosophy of Mullvad?

    Why wouldn't this browser use 1920x1080 resolution as a default if they really wanted to blend in and avoid fingerprinting? Seems to me that this custom resolution would make it easier for sites to identify users.

    • @EricMurphyxyz
      @EricMurphyxyz  Před rokem +10

      Not sure, but there's plenty of people on screens smaller than 1920x1080, and plenty of people who don't maximize their browser all the time. The browser uses the bars around it to round down the resolution to a multiple of 100 (e.g. 1900x1000), so you should blend in with everyone with a similar window size (within the nearest 100 pixels).

    I haven't used mullvad browser yet. Though I'm planning to for my laptop once I get mullvad VPN.
    Mostly because I just used a few browsers. I try keeping a plain chromium one with ublock for CZcams /google and social media type sites, a privacy respecting chromium, like brave, a slightly hardened Firefox, and then a properly hardened Firefox version.
    Then separate what I do in each. After getting them setup up for what I want, its actually just easier having multiple browsers.

      @@farouqstray1411 its basically like tor. But practical to use for everyday tasks. It has all the same features, but rather than using the tor network. It uses mullvad vpn (iddealy for keeping the fingerprint the same). Or you can use no vpn.
      As far as actually using it, its the perfect browser for doing stuff where you dont need to log into an account. You can easily keep your browser clean, just by leaving the origional settings in place.
      To get the most out of it, i recommend keeping 2 browsers, have chromium, firefox, or brave. And use that for logging into personal accounts. Then have mullvad for everything else.

  • @Bond2025
    @Bond2025 Před rokem +8

    Tor never did provide anonymity and is worse now, it only ever provided anonymity to a certain extent. Tor Project altered the settings on TorBrowser Bundle firefox in late 2013 to facilitate Operation Onymous for Law Enforcement around the World. They were put under pressure to do this and also made sure that before this, scripts were running in the background when the slider said they were all blocked. This was a deliberate attempt to first try and find Ed Snowden as they needed to locate his access point. Sites were altered to run a script to get that info. Then it was used on Tor sites and people using TorMail.
    That project team did a lot of damage, but denied it, but also said nothing was hacked - so what was the story?
    I downloaded a version of TorBrowserBundle from the official site in Novemeber 2013 and it had a "Profiler Trojan" built in, when I reported it, no one was interested, they made excuses about my antivirus. It had been altered deliberately for UK users.
    Tor Project then dropped the word anonymity and changed it all to privacy and still claim no one is anonymous.
    They did a lot of damage as people were either forced to do this, or Law enforcement hacked everything.
