Title says it all: a fun fact about every country in the world. This is Part 1 in which we look at countries from A to L. Part 2 is already in works and shouldnt be too long until it's out. Sorry for how long it's been since my last video. 2020 was a weird year.

9:43 Funny thing about East Timor, is that that is not its official name. It's official name is Timor Leste and apparently it really doesn't like it when people call it East Timor. You already explained the Timor part of the name, and how it leads to the translation of the informal name being "East East". But the word Leste is Portuguese, since the country was under the rule of Portugual. What does the word "Leste" translate into, you ask?

I think you need to explain more about East Timor (9:43). The word Timor refers to the name of the island where the country located. And yes, the name of the island "Timor" comes from the word "east" in Malay. However, it is "East Timor" because the country has the eastern part of the Timor Island and the western part belongs to Indonesia.
So basically he wasn't wrong and you're just overanalyzing it as if he has 10 minutes to explain each country.

The Bukina Faso story is quite a complex one. One filled with tears and suffering.
After colonisation ended, Thomas Sankara set out to rebuild the country back up with equality and justice in mind.
Without the help of the western world and of course they managed to kill him through his friend. Basically neo-colonialism.
He'd influenced the name to remind his people of the values they were to hold as a society.
RIP Sankara.

I enjoy this sort of thing very much and appreciate the work that you did to put this together. However, I feel like it’s too much information too fast, meaning, unable to absorb or really feel any thought. Most of these items should have a minimum of 5 to 10 seconds more. And another thing is it would be nice to show on the map where some of these places are by zooming in the way that you do but then zooming out, so I can see what continent it’s on! It’s too much too fast and I think you could make two shows out of this one, and it would be easier to watch and maybe more interesting because I would be able to remember some of it!!! Thank you!

Fiji is one of the countries whose name is a different language than the official language of the country. Fiji is the Tongan name for Fiji. The Fijian name is Viti, like it says on the bottle. The only other country I can think of is Switzerland. With four official languages to choose from, they picked the Latin Helvetia.

Belgian scientists called a solar system which can be one of the best for alien and human life after beer which is funny. Also, the reason that Belgium didn't have a government in 2020 is because the biggest political party was a controversial party that only supported Flanders and not the rest of Belgium. The parties wrote a contract long ago that they would never coöperate with this party. We are also divided in three parts and love to find solution which are fine for everyone which takes quite long. I think that this also makes Brussels great for being the EU's capital.

Just a couple of things I really need to say right off the bat... first off, I'm really sorry for how long it's been since my last video. 2020 was a weird year (for all of us) and there were several factors that contributed to me not uploading. I'm very optimistic for 2021 though, both for my channel and the world as a whole.
Second, I know that Wendover also did this video. I actually had this idea way back in 2014, and was working on it as a background project until 2016 when Wendover uploaded his videos and so I decided to put away my list, and didn't add to it for several years. Then I figured enough time had passed (and new facts have emerged) that it shouldn't stop me from making a video that I really wanted to make.
So here it is.
If you're a regular viewer of the channel, some of the facts may seem a little repetitive (especially if you've seen my flag video), but like I said, I have been collecting these facts for several years, before many of my other videos even existed.
As mentioned at the end of the video, I finally decided to start a Patreon after 7 years on CZcams. It's not that I will give up on doing sponsored content, but I think not having to rely on sponsorship money to allow me to do this full-time will give me more creative freedom. @@justalex3828 The thing is, there's a certain party that others don't want to cooperate with. Called Vlaams Belang, others view them as too extreme whilst the only thing they want is security in our own country which apparently seems taboo for the rest of the parties. Lately Vlaams Belang has been getting more and more votes than ever, overtaking anyone else. The current left wing parties barely get 10% of the votes each but found a loophole to counter a majority vote. If they all work together in a coalition, they can outnumber VB and still remain in power. But to do that, they need the other bigger parties with a big portion of votes. Most often those parties refuse to work together with left wing parties as they tend to swing money to themselves whenever they can on costs of the state and taxpayers. Literally, the left wing parties here just increased their own budget with millions for no reason... Anyway, there needs to be a majority among votes with the combination of parties that they'd like (At least 51% of votes counted together). If they don't reach that majority, they can't pass as a government and no government will start. It happened twice already where that occured. The coalition of parties didn't reach the majority of votes to become ruling parties. But due to Covid pandemic, the party with about the least amount of votes abused their current power to put some dumb Walloonian politician in power to "lead" (Basically leave Belgium and its citizens to fend for themselves).
So basically, TLDR: If there's no majority of votes with the coalition they choose. No government will be installed, even if for the sake of having a governmen.
Because fuck Open-VLD and the Walloonian parties dishing around Flemish money.
