  • In this video we're listening to another one from Rainbow. It's been a little bit since we touched on this band. So far, we're really happy with them. They always have an amazing sound, no matter who is singing for them. And we can't wait to hear more. Enjoy!

    This particular lineup was epic! Graham Bonnet is a great singer! I saw Rainbow after this album was released in Madison Wisconsin they were touring with Blue Oyster Cult! WOW! What a great show that was!

    You really can't go wrong with any vocal era in Rainbow. Other Graham Bonnet Rainbow songs that are great, "All Night Long" & "Since You've Been Gone". Also Check out the Joe Lynn Turner era - "Stone Cold", "Tear'n my Heart Out", and "Street of Dreams". Plus the Doogie White era, "Ariel" & "Hunt Humans" & Hall of the Mountain King".

    We saw The Graham Bonnet Band last year, and Graham still belts this out with ease. Brilliant, considering he's in his mid seventies

    I think that Graham Bonnet is vastly underrated. He moved on to MSG and did one huge album called Assault Attack, but was fired after their first gig because he came on stage pissed and exposed himself. Although he maintained a career after that, he never really hit the big time again except in Japan, where he is still a big star after the Japanese took his band, Alcatraz to their hearts.
    As a live singer, he is still incredible but age is fast catching up and you can see that towards the end of the gig he is knackered

      @@Starburst_Candy Yes, I know he always had high opinions about himself. But he's a very good singer even though he's in my opinion also number five on the Rainbow list. And also number five on the Purple list :-)

    Graham had a hit single called Night Games. It was a cover version, so it would fit nicely into Who did it better.

    This was the first Rainbow 🌈 album without Ronnie James Dio & the only one with Graham Bonnet on vocals. Radio friendly & the track All Night Long topped the chart in England. Decent but not as good as their earlier stuff.

    Ritchie Blackmore loves cats, so he might not be too upset at being interrupted by a feline. This is probably the best and most epic track Rainbow recorded after Dio's departure. This might have been the best line-up of musicians Rainbow had, and it was a pity it didn't last more than one album. This was the point when Rainbow first achieved commercial success, so Dio leaving the band didn't seem like a big deal at the time. I think the departures of Graham Bonnet and Don Airey from the band were the only ones Blackmore expressed any regret about, and Cozy Powell was a huge loss.

    Rainbow was entirely Blackmore's band, because he financed it all he was losing money to the extent that he was in serious trouble and could have been bankrupted, he needed commercial success and asked Dio to consider this and come up with more commercial lyrics, this was not to Dio's taste and eventually this amongst other issues led to the split, I've always liked Down To Earth and it's a shame that Bonnet didn't do more with Rainbow.

    • @colrhodes377
      @colrhodes377 Před měsícem +2

      Not the tale Ritchie tells.. Ritchie just wanted a more commercial sound. Bob Daisley speaks of it in his autobiography. They were making money, but he wanted the income that he was achieving in Deep Purple

    • @delorangeade
      @delorangeade Před měsícem

      @@colrhodes377 Blackmore's Deep Purple royalties were financing the band over and above any money the record company put into the band, and they weren't selling enough records to cover the costs, so the rest of the band was literally on his payroll. So the band members were getting paid, but Blackmore personally was losing money and the band might have folded without the change of direction. Dio was virtually broke when he left the band, Wendy says he was fired, because his house and car belonged to the band and Rainbow royalties hadn't really started coming through.
