  • Listen in as myself & Kuip Talk discussed potential new Reds boss Arne Slot.
    We discussed:
    - The reaction to the news in Holland 😢
    - How AS reinvigorated Feyenoord 👏
    - 'The King' in the day to day works of the football operations 🫡
    I am certain that after listening to this chat with Kuip Talk, you will be as excited as we are in welcoming Arne Slot to Anfield (should this happen).

    My whole life I am a Feyenoord supporter. So that is now close to 54 years. Arne is one of our best coaches we ever had. He is loved and respected by supporters, players, staff, opponents, media and will be surely missed. You will get a great coach, give him love and support and you will love him too. All the best Arne, thank you for all you have done for Feyenoord.

      Thanks dude.
      And thank you for a Liverpool legend- Dirk Kuyt! My favorite modern Liverpool player(and many other supporters' as well)
      He had heart and you could count on him until the end of the match! He scored so many matchwinners when both teams could barely stand on their feet, or just late in extra time. The man was Duracell in human form!
      It is through our love for Dirk that I got to know Feyenoord and it's supporters. So even though I'm not a follower, I always vouch for Feyenoord if they play in any match.

    It's something special for me. I walked with Slot upon the football pitch twice when he was a player at NAC Breda. I'm a few hundred meters away where Van Dijk began his amateur career. The youth football field next to my house is called the Van Dijk Court.
    These things tie my own life to the club I already love. It's special.

    What I am getting from feyernoord fans is he's a superb tactician, who loves high-possession, high-pressing & fluid attacking football and has an impressive record of developing young players.
    The same could be said about Erik ten Hag and Peter Bosz though and yet they failed to impress abroad after their big moves from Eredivisie, which also shows that being a great tactician doesn't make you a great coach.

    • @j.s.w.3607
      @j.s.w.3607 Před 26 dny +7

      Arne Slot once said that tactics is a crucial part of your game, but it is also about individual player development. At a centain point, you will reach the limit in terms of tactical ingenuity. Slot has this extra dimension by speaking to his players 1v1 and he's always trying to convince his players that they can improve. I think that's one of the characteristics of him which makes him an outstanding coach. Besides, his communication skills in the media are top-level, comparing him with for example EtH.

    • @hoi-polloi
      @hoi-polloi Před 26 dny

      @@j.s.w.3607 all that is well and good but the gap between eredivisie and PL is massive but the gap between feyernoord and Liverpool is astronomically 10x bigger. The pressure of playing high pressure games against high level opponents every 3 days and expectations being win or the season derails after a few poor results. I just fear that he'll fall so short and will end up having a season akin to postecoglu at Spurs; barely fighting for top 4 and out early in cup competitions.
      Shankly once said "Liverpool FC exists to win trophies " that's the standard and he's up against a city team that'll probably spend €200M on guimares & paqueta while LFC he'd have to over perform the budget.
      Also JK is a leader of about 30 people in the different key depts in the club all of whom are leaving in the summer. Can Slot get the right people in those positions or will he have to rely on Hughes & Edwards to bring people who don't necessarily share his vision and how does he handle that?

    • @theroadendpod
      @theroadendpod  Před 25 dny +3

      @@theroadendpod I think the next manager will have to deal with square pegs round hole problem that is much of the current squad- i.e TAA Szoboszlai Gravenberch Nunez et al ....
      and given Edwards and FSG policy of being frugal it would require a miracle for Slot to be successful otherwise I imagine we're headed to another Brendan Rodgers era

    • @mohsdef

    LFC STILL IN IT. I luv 95% of ur chats boys. A.Slot winning dutch title is similar to sir Alf winning title w Ipswich. Its huge. As only Ajax & PSV win titles there. Slot has an amazing win rate of 62%. The UKRG Maths profs think he will be a great boss so 99% of LFC fans will be happy too.
    Jota injury & Gakpo birth are why LFC lost as Mo's out of form. His conversion rate before injury was 23% & now it's 6%. If Jota had stayed fit, & Gakpo baby came a few hours later LFC wud be champs narrowly.
    JOTA'S CONVERSION rate is an amazing 33% per football pundit king Souness (& on big chances Jota converts a world best 66% per Rio) - LFC has 1 worldy clinical finisher & ManC has 2 in Haaland & Alverez.
    Anytime u win a cup & get into UCL, its a good season, so be grateful & stop moaning.
    Legends Bobby Moore, Alan Ball, Emyln Hughes, Cyrille Regis & Geoff Astle all died before age 60 & never got to see their kids married or play footy with teenage grandkids.
    Brighton will defeat Man C & Arsenal will be favourites & both have loseable games vs Spurs.
    LFC have a 15% chance but its better than a 1% chance. U can't do much more when injuries rob u of ur top boys.
    LFC WON A CUP WITH 10 KOP KIDS who will play in UCL next yr. FUTURE IS VERY BRIGHT WITH ARNEE SLOT the next Paisley.

      Hancko might be in the running to replace Van Dijk though and you'll be surprised by his skills.
      Plays under Slot, great character and mentality, amazing stats already in the Eredivisie and UCL, is an outspoken Liverpool fan, etc.
      Has a contract until 2028 though, so he'll likely cost between 40 and 60 million for you guys, or wait another year.
      I'm saying this as a Feyenoord fan: Hancko might potentially be the best central defender we've ever had.
      Fast, tactically smart, physically strong and fit, barely takes any cards, etc. dude literally had one yellow card in the 2022/2023 Eredivisie season.
