30 Second Foam Cannon Upgrade | 1.1 Orifice Replacement Is It Worth It?

- Today I'm taking my cheap $15 foam cannon and giving it an upgrade. The fix is simple, quick and cheap. I'll explain what an orifice is in relation to a foam cannon and how to switch your old orifice for a smaller 1.1 size orifice. I got this off of Amazon and it even came with a new foaming element. The only tools you'll need are an adjustable wrench, a flat head screw driver and your hands. I'll be using the Chemical Guys Honeydew Snow Foam mixed at a 10:1 ratio with warm water. I'll spray the same mixture before and after the upgrade. Of course I'll show how to do the upgrade and give my final thoughts. Let's see if this is worth it.

Thanka for the video. I have the same setup as you. Mingle foam cannon, Harbor Freight power washer and the Chemical Guys honeydew snow wash. I'm ordering the 1.1 tip now.
Thanks you for the review. Appreciate it.
Glad it was helpful!
One thing that rarely gets mentioned is water hardness. If you have a lot of calcium and/or magnesium in your city water you won't get the same foam as with soft water. a TDS meter alone will not help determine this you need to use a water hardness test kit. Anything approaching 50ppm (ppm of hardness, not total ppm) it's likely going to prove disappointing. I just got a whole house softener which although doesn't affect overall TDS it exchanges hard water ions like Calcium and Magnesuim with salt and now my foam cannon launches shaving cream. I even went back and connected my PW to a non-softened spigot and instantly back to light drippy foam. The difference is amazing.
Thanks for the video. I have that foam cannon and will have the same setup with the harbor freight pressure washer. I was contemplating would it be worth it to change the orifice but you answered all of my questions. Again thank you.
Nice! I’m glad the video could help.
Thanks man, you convinced me and I’ll swap to a 1.1. 😎
For sure! The 1.1 makes a big difference. I also just started using a little more soap.
mine doesnt have a flat head groove to remove it

I have the mjjc foam cannon with a 1.1 orifice and it shoots out super thick foam
Nice! I’ve since increased my soap ratio and gotten better results too.
the mjjc foam cannon is just an aliexpress one with a sticker on it and sold for 10x the price
just subscribed!
Thanks for showing the love Jordiii.
Where can I order this from?
I have an Astro Ai Foam cannon and I'm just not able to loosen the inside flat head screw. I have tried and I've stripped the screw but it won't budge. Anyone knows what to do?
I’ve just orderd a 1.1mm one 2.50 pound so around 3 dollars hopefully it makes a difference
What's your verdict?
@@freshsquiized it’s slightly thicker not massivliy that’s on a cheap Lance
You did not put the screen in! It's the other half of the supper foam!
I tried taking the orifice out, ended up stripping it so I can’t replace it anymore
Hey can you help please I’m trying to take off the piece so I can swap out the orifice but I just can’t get it off it’s so tight . I see everyone else barely trying to twist it off and this is my 2nd foam cannon and I’m still having trouble trying to remove it
Did you ever get it off? I generally use something like WD-40 or other lubricant to help break loose stubborn bolts.
I got mine off but the inside piece won’t unscrew. Metal just getting marred
So i got the Harbor Freight foam cannon, however i can not for the life of me get the quick disconnect off to access the orifice. Never used it yet, any other tips? Can i spray something like WD-40 or PB Blaster? I haven't put it in a vice yet for more leverage but I CAN NOT get this thing off!!!
Same here that thing is on there
Same for me. The struggle is real. Lol
@@justaguyokay WD-40 worked to get it off i think there’s no other way
Any idea what size the original orifice size was?
1.25
Good morning how can I get that additional part
amazon
Check the description. The link should be there. Cheers
What's the other wee wirey looking thing in the packet for?
It is a filter that sits further in the barrel
what water pressure do you got?
I wish I could tell you. But I do know that it isn’t particularly strong.
So we just forgot about that mesh thing?
yes
I replaced the orifice to 1.1 but same result any advice?
Are you using a good foaming soap? I.e. Mr Pink or Adams mega foam
Or maybe replace the foaming filter, like shown in this video that came with his 1.1 orifice
@@roneljusto8602 i use koch chemie gsf and the filter it also new
@@roneljusto8602 now that I'm thinking it, probably it the hard water, playing he's part on the foam
I agree @Alex Mitakidis. I have really hard water so I have to either treat the water or use more soap in my cannon.
You sir have a wonderful car! Tesla gang let's go!!! Upgrade to the mega foam from Adams and the foam Cannon from adams and I promise you, you'll live in thick foam cloud!!!!
Great video, and advice for everyone. Why waste that stuff on that pile of junk car??? 😎
Test should be done on vertical parts like doors, so we could see how well the foamnsticks to them, for sure not on front window ... and don't use a white car for it
u need more pressure to make thick foam
Sorry, I didn't see much of a difference in your test. I think the purpose of different orifice sizes is to make up for differing water pressures, depending on the type of power washer you have. I just picked up a Harbor Freight foam cannon (looks identical to yours), and it came with an extra orifice. No instructions whatsoever but on the box it says it comes with two orifices - one 1.2mm for gas powered pressure washers and one 1.1mm orifice for electric.
Overly edited pretentious video aside, it comes down to what the original one was and main reason you do this, it's for people using lower powered pressure washers.
It has nothing to do with "cheap foam cannon" those were designed for higher output pressure washer.
Thank you for showing where the jet is hiding.
Looks the same
Super double surf bro accent in a place that doesn't look like there's a beach anywhere close. Weird
I put a 1.1 on my cannon and it did weird stuff to my power washer. Made it cut out and on. Put stock orfice back on was fine. Weird
That is really strange. What brand of washer? I wonder if it’s a safety feature.

I have been reading that smaller orifice can mess up your Electric pressure washer or - Perhaps too much pressure being pushed through the small office as opposed to the OEM. Not sure about this, but my sense is that size orifice on the OEM for a reason.
You’re getting back pressure. Not good, could damage the head in the pump. Basically your pressure washer is too powerful /has too much flow rate for the smaller opening.
