30 Second Foam Cannon Upgrade | 1.1 Orifice Replacement Is It Worth It?

  • Today I'm taking my cheap $15 foam cannon and giving it an upgrade. The fix is simple, quick and cheap. I'll explain what an orifice is in relation to a foam cannon and how to switch your old orifice for a smaller 1.1 size orifice. I got this off of Amazon and it even came with a new foaming element. The only tools you'll need are an adjustable wrench, a flat head screw driver and your hands. I'll be using the Chemical Guys Honeydew Snow Foam mixed at a 10:1 ratio with warm water. I'll spray the same mixture before and after the upgrade. Of course I'll show how to do the upgrade and give my final thoughts. Let's see if this is worth it.

    Thanka for the video. I have the same setup as you. Mingle foam cannon, Harbor Freight power washer and the Chemical Guys honeydew snow wash. I'm ordering the 1.1 tip now.

    One thing that rarely gets mentioned is water hardness. If you have a lot of calcium and/or magnesium in your city water you won't get the same foam as with soft water. a TDS meter alone will not help determine this you need to use a water hardness test kit. Anything approaching 50ppm (ppm of hardness, not total ppm) it's likely going to prove disappointing. I just got a whole house softener which although doesn't affect overall TDS it exchanges hard water ions like Calcium and Magnesuim with salt and now my foam cannon launches shaving cream. I even went back and connected my PW to a non-softened spigot and instantly back to light drippy foam. The difference is amazing.

    Thanks for the video. I have that foam cannon and will have the same setup with the harbor freight pressure washer. I was contemplating would it be worth it to change the orifice but you answered all of my questions. Again thank you.

  • @philshock3805
    @philshock3805 Před měsícem

    Sorry, I didn't see much of a difference in your test. I think the purpose of different orifice sizes is to make up for differing water pressures, depending on the type of power washer you have. I just picked up a Harbor Freight foam cannon (looks identical to yours), and it came with an extra orifice. No instructions whatsoever but on the box it says it comes with two orifices - one 1.2mm for gas powered pressure washers and one 1.1mm orifice for electric.

  • @sharifsircar
    @sharifsircar Před měsícem

    Overly edited pretentious video aside, it comes down to what the original one was and main reason you do this, it's for people using lower powered pressure washers.
    It has nothing to do with "cheap foam cannon" those were designed for higher output pressure washer.
    Thank you for showing where the jet is hiding.

      I have been reading that smaller orifice can mess up your Electric pressure washer or - Perhaps too much pressure being pushed through the small office as opposed to the OEM. Not sure about this, but my sense is that size orifice on the OEM for a reason.

    • @katyg3873
      @katyg3873 Před rokem +1

      You’re getting back pressure. Not good, could damage the head in the pump. Basically your pressure washer is too powerful /has too much flow rate for the smaller opening.
