- From the day the names were placed on the lines of this year’s draw, fans have been eagerly anticipating this 30th career matchup between the Williams sisters, Serena and Venus. This meeting between the superstar siblings, who between them own a staggering 30 Grand Slam singles titles, marks the earliest they’ve met in a major since the first time they met in a major, way back in 1998 in the second round of the Australian Open. Elder sister Venus won that one in straight sets. The timing of this tussle is primarily a product of Serena's time away from the tour-absent for almost a year due to her pregnancy and the subsequent birth of her daughter Olympia one year ago tomorrow. But a great show is a great show, regardless of when you see it. And Williams-Williams is always a great show.

I continue to be amazed by both the talent and strength of these phenomenal women. I appreciate them more every time I watch them play. Both have had injuries that could have shortened their careers, but look at the level of their games; amazing! Unbelievable! Inspiring! No matter what happens for the remainder of their careers in tennis, they are truly the G.O.A.T.S I hope that I will be blessed to see them play many more matches as their health and bodies permit. Love you both Venus and Serena!

This is a crime! Stop putting them up against each other so early in the tournaments. Please keep them in completely different draws. I don’t want to see a Williams vs Williams until the final. I love both sisters and am always rooting for one of them to win; playing each other so early in the tournaments doesn’t feel as special.
Draws are determined in terms of seeding. Venus hasnt been at her best in a while.
I hate that Venus played Serena in some of these recent slams because I felt she could have made a push in some of them. Love them Both.

Serena's last gs before her pregnancy was the 2017 ao which she won.
After her delivery she didn't even give herself a year to recover from the injuries and mental status that came dude to her life threatening blood clots.
But she came back sooooo soon at the 2018 us open.....I was like are you kidding me???? How can ppl possibly hate /dislike a legend like her??? I mean seriously, she is the goat, she is amazing! All the haters care about is her misbehaving with Ramos and her code violation. They are brain blind ofc. They don't see the struggles which she faced through her entire life. Just get over hating this living legend guys.

I hope Serena can watch these matches and see that whenever she is calm, quiet and focused that she plays exceptionally but when she starts complaining and looking outside herself for solutions then she doesn't play well. These were the cases with her last four slam losses. When she loses focus, the same can be said for the match.
I love to watch their games.

I was at Arthur Ashe for that match. To be honest, the quality was subpar up until the last game where Venus saved all those match points with some insane winners. The crowd went crazy.
