If I may suggest. You can get a lot of good content out of that bike. So keep the vidios coming. Keep your little camera man busy. All I watch is iron and shovel vidios. So keep up the good work. I enjoy your vidios.

Greetings From Siberia ( Northern Canada ) Hi , another good video , any video with a Ironhead involved is a good video . I think you did good on the deal you made with the previous owner , in my opinion you should not part the bike out . The bike would make a good bike for someone who wants to have a Harley but doesn't have a lot of money to spend , the bike is far too good to part out . If I were you I would repair the timing plate hold down screw and buy a points conversion kit for it and install it . Installation is simple and straight forward , reliable , simple and inexpensive . You will need a five ohm coil though .I have been working on , modifying and tuning Ironheads for decades, this works . I have run electronic ignitions in the past and they work no better than points when set up properly .The Mikuni carbs are excellent and do everything well but can take some patience to get really dialed in depending on your combination . For a basic set up turn the mixture screw 1 1/2 turns out from lightly seated and the idle speed screw may have to be turned almost to the point where the spring is coil bound, it is on my 73 XLH .For starting engage the enrichner , keep the throttle closed and hit the button , mine fires right away and this one should too .. I have played with countless carbs over the years but in my experience and opinion you could not mount a better carb on a Ironhead per dollar spent . They work and work well , Jerry Branch sold kits years ago . I woudn't pull the cam cover until doing these steps first , I doubt the cam timing is out , but like anything there is a possibility . I think that in short order you will have the bike running well , and you can't mount a better starting carb than one of these on a Ironhead .Get it running well , clean it up a little and then decide to sell it or keep it like I usually do . This could be made into a good bike for someone to ride and enjoy, you could still make some money on it selling it and provide a good opportunity for someone . Keep the videos coming Take Care From The North Siberian Cycles Gary

Hi 👋 Great Bike for $1300, I would not of tried to started it , I would’ve cleaned the tank out first, especially when you took the fuel tap out with all that crud on it, I would’ve taken the carb off and clean that out, that is a great idea who is Kenneth, explaining to him what you are roughly doing diagnostics test seeking, and could be worth asking him for a certain size spanner, and then he realises later in life, what spanners fit what roughly?, back in 2019 I got burgled and lost all my AF spanners and metric as well. Spanners that I’d heard back from the early 60s., oh, in the middle of the 90s, I did purchase a good tool set which has gone as well, as I am a old geezer, I think I would keep the bike and slowly go through it and rebuild it as it will give me something to do, especially as I’m in my early 70s, and I want to get back on the road again, hoping later in the year, something I didn’t say that I am an English guy now retired and living in France, I started riding British bikes at the age of 10-11 years old, and passed my test just after my 17th birthday, on Suzuki, 250, which I ran for probably 5 to 6 months and then I purchased a Norton commando 750 brand-new, , i’ve purchased my first Harley Davison in the early 90s, and I have had three,
My last one was a soft tail deuce , which I purchased in 1999, 2000,
I find your territorials very interesting, as it gives young people, an insight in how to track down problems, there’s nothing like doing things hands on, I think this is the best way to learn, especially with your son, I wish you all the best for the future, I look forward to part two,
And I hope you are safe and sound away from the fires that I’ve been hearing about. up in Canada ,
Stay safe, Phil from the moulin France.

I`m not sure where the market is right now, but probably a little soft.
Still not a bad deal although it remains to be seen what needs to be done to flip it.
It is the last year for the ol' Ironhead though & I think that`s a plus.
Definitely worth keeping together as a motorcycle, but that`s up to you.
I like the Sportbob tank & full rear fender look of it.
Now I havto brag a little tho, because I got a better deal on my late 84 XLH 1000.
I paid just a little more, but since then I`ve also $pent another $3k including parts & some labor while I also did some of the labor myself.
So, I probably wouldn`t profit if I sold mine & might even lose $ome, but it isn`t for sale anyway.
According to book, in top condition it might be worth a little over $8k & I estimate mine in #2 condition which is around mid $5k.
I think you might be onto something about the cam timing & I`m looking forward to your next vid on it!
    Thanks for sharing.
P.S. I vote for rooster stew!

Air< fuel & spark ,it should start . After watching the video to the end ,I'd completely clean the fuel system & time it correctly because one minute you had it to far advanced ( backfiring through the carbie )then retarded ( backfiring through the pipes ) but you'd know all that . I don't think it's cam timing ,it sounds like Ignition timing ,might be that aftermarket electronic ignition module is the problem but hey matching numbers 85 Iron head mate I'd be hoarding that puppy.
