I don't like cats but that Russell is a show off. He stole the show here. I would think I was in heaven in a yard like yours. Happy for such a young couple to have accomplished such a beautiful heavenly place. I pray my daughter will one day get the green thumb bug and do the same thing to her future property.

These plants are so pretty & a perfect choice here. Hostas have become my favorite yard plant, almost addictive ~ a lot of reliable greenery bang for the buck. You can divide them forever. And the varieties available are outstanding. Big ones, little ones, round leaves, curly leaves ~ white, lime, gold, blue; all of the above :)

Those hostas are humongous and the root systems, wow! No waiting for those to mature. They are full on! I love hostas, blooms and all! The other great thing about them is that if you want to give some to friends, they are easy to divide and recover from division very easily. They are under-appreciated in my area.
Hostas make great cut flowers. Even the leaves look pretty with a few in the vase.
Oh no Russell is going after the slug bait! Looks like when you moved away he tried a few bites of it. Hope he doesn't get sick. He is so sweet would hate to see something happen to him. Love your plant choices for that area. Beautiful tree. Can't wait till the next one!

That fence is my favorite spot in your yard. I've been looking for a unique piece of old fencing so that we can do something similar. Love those big hostas! Russell is so cool just hanging out while you work.

I think that hostas are the perfect beginner shade plant. They always look awesome and need very little maintenance. I've never had a snail or slug problem and I am aware that skunks and raccoons travel to my yard at night. I know they eat them as well as grubs that grow in the ground.

Beautiful. I have a full hosta garden with many varieties. It's pretty striking and colorful with no blooms! The foliage is spectacular.
I would love to have an astilbe garden with wafts of one color into another color.
Those are some of the most beautiful hostas I have ever seen! That looks like the perfect spot for them. I can't wait to see what they look like once their fully established and the other hostas have grown out.

Hostas are one of my favorite plants. Probably mainly because 90% of my yard is shade but these are beautiful. And I am one that doesn't really like the blooms

Laura, I let my hosts flowers go to seed one year and collected the seeds to see if I could grow them. To my surprise they grew. I know it is not the most efficient method of increasing my hosts plants but it was definitely lots of fun. I can barely focus on what you are saying with Russel in the background. What a sweet kitty!

I'm surprised the yellow tulips haven't been hit with that virus that makes them have red streaks. It took me many seasons to erradicate the red and yellow tulips left by the elderly man I bought my house from. My garden, also, has cool colors. I get tons of compliments from strangers who walk by.
