Dave, very generous of you to share your tamping-on-an-incline tip with the general audience. You do that often. Goes to character. WTG.

It would be great to see some of your projects after everything has dried out and the homeowner has planted and lived with it for a while. It might be an idea for a compilation for a revisit over some of these projects.
Yes its another good video
@@OdellCompleteConcrete why is that concrete to the right so white? Are they getting it ordered with an additive or less iron or mixing it with white portland?
Man I have been watching a lot of your content lately. It's great.

Great video, and great work by you and your team.

When you tamp uphill like you did, does that force all that big stone down to the compacted dirt base?
Other great video and job by David O'Dell.

That little skid steer looks fun
Yes it is
Great video and really informative thanks. I think a lot of us consider doing one of these projects on our own and some of the details you left out while finishing the surface. For instance all the different tools in succession to leave a smooth or not so smooth finish. Also, It appears in this video not only did you have an angle of the driveway going to the street but it appears you had an angle of the driveway going into the neighbors yard, which I don't think you mentioned. How did you figure out that angle? Is it ok to pour cement over a surface that has moisture in it? Lastly, I saw in a previous video you used a mesh wire, why didn't you use that mesh wire in this driveway? ( I did hear you mention that you used bigger stone, is that the reason?) Thank you.
I hear that.
TY
Great job
TY
nice mud, nice mix, nice job :-)
Its good stuff and finished like a dream
Looks amazing! What kind of forms do you use if it's a curved shape?
bender board
Great work, as always! Thought I'd ask you this since you're so well experienced. Have you ever worked worth Basalt type IV cement?
No
Nice that you can pour to the property line. We have to provide 2' easement between new addition and property line. Why no rebar/fiber? Fun to watch, thanks!
What State is that in and why?
@@OdellCompleteConcrete 6 ft away here in Maryland.
I guess theres more space there then, and maybe not as crowded?
He doesn't need fiber because he has rock added to the cement mix
@@rockcrazedanimal I thought both rock and fiber were added? I guess I need to watch again.
Great videos man! I’m learning a lot and hoping to go off on my own and do all sorts of concrete.. any advice?

do you have a video that i can I use a guideline to do finishing. Specially to learn time line in between using the different finishing tools. love watching your videos.

Look so great!!! how much cost $ for them?
hi and thanks for the video, great work, in this case when could the driveway be used, next day, next week,.....? thank you
10 days
Great video. Question for Novice on how to add to existing 5ft x4ft slab for HVAC equipment. I Want to add 2” to thickness of existing 4” slab for total of 6” thickness and also extend the slab 2 ft in length also. Can this be done so it lasts? Any guidance is appreciated.
I would remove and replace
Do you have to use rebar? I didn't see it in this vid
Great videos. I have two questions since your the expert. My garage I’m building will have 2x6 walls, what curb thickness would you recommend? Second if I have an 16 garage door what rough distance should the curbs be apart.. 16’3”? Thanks as I don’t know who to ask here in Wisconsin.
Sounds good and tight
Your comment was a year ago but we are building a detached garage right now (summer 2020) and the buck out for our garage door is 16'-3". The man door rough is 41". 36" pre-hungs are 37 1/2" so round out to 38" plus 3" for jambs.
Thank you , very good job Sir .
What is the spoon you are useing ?
Erskine
The cream rises to the top like unhomogenized milk...
Love your videos and how you can make it work w/o crushed stone under a pad.
Do you think it depends on the size of the pad he's making? I watched so many videos that stress using the crushed stone. I'm tempted to diy my walkway so looking to understand as much as possible.
Do you use plastic underneath your concrete for a drive way as a barrier? I seen you use plastic for foundations, so what determines when to use or not use plastic? Another awesome video.
If its enclosed and climate controlled
Just curious as to why you didn’t rebar the entire section as opposed to attaching to the existing driveway great work by the way !
TY
It looks nice on the thumbnail
Bingo
No rebar this time? I also didn’t hear anything about fiber.
only when the customer is being a cheapass and needs the price lower
It has become my standard adding fiber,
no rebar because I was able to get big rock mix in there
@@OdellCompleteConcrete , but rock means no need for rebar for a small area like this?
@@jplandscaping5069 I wondered that
@@OdellCompleteConcrete You did add rebar dowels I noticed
Great video! For future reference if you ever break a coaxial cable it must be replaced and can not be spliced together, if you spice a drop line you will eventually get signal issues and cause the customers problems down the road.
That's good to know, sounds like you may work for a cable company?
With the soil being damp, would adding base gravel be best or when is it necessary to add base gravel before pouring?
yes
Great video, was there a reason for not using a stone base? I’m going to have a concrete driveway poured within the next week here in new York city. Do you recommend a stone base, and if so how deep should the stone base?
No stone needed here in Southern California where its beach weather everyday.
New York has some weather issues you need to take in to consideration, check with local building department
Thanks, I’ll double check.
Radio Shack! That’s an old one, but nice one too.
Yes I miss it
Great video, so when do you use reinforcement steel?
When the customer wants it
Love your videos! It's like taking a Xanax for me! Lol
Thats what I need
Nice work. Is there ever legal issues between neighbors for adding concrete and redirecting rain water? Specifically, could I get into trouble for adding to my driveway? *My neighbors yard already floods under heavy Florida rain.
No problem
No 9 👍
Sweet vid!

Hi David. I was wondering what the purpose of the concrete tamp is, and would you use it if the driveway was steeper than this?
Yes I've used it on a steeper grades.
It knocks the rocks down.
A pleasure to watch! Thank you.
TY
David I was the expansion joints that you put going across, at what point would you put a expansion going down? I have some people using wire mesh in the concrete, what are you thoughts on that and is it ever necessary ?
Reinforcement is always a nice bonus
Hey Dave I was wondering how come you didn’t put rebar for this job ? Does it not need it because is not that big of a job or ? Let me know thank you tryijg to make my own driveway
Yes size matters
is there a reason why you're not using aggregate such as crushed gravel prior to pouring? is it because the rock is mixed in the the mixture already?
also, is there a reason you didn't use expansion joints at the ends where it meets the sidewalk or other concrete at the top?
Climate determines your build.
Where do you guys normally dump all the excess concrete/water.. like the one left on your wheel barrel??.
I wait until the heavy's settle then pour the clear water wherever. Shovel the big stuff in to trash bags and take to concrete recycling plant
no need for a rebar and gravel rocks before cement?
when do u take forms out?
If you were parking a large motor home 30-35000 lb on that slab would it have to be thicker, or for sure have rebar?
Yes it would be better to go with 5 to 6" and 1/2" rebar @ 2'
@@OdellCompleteConcrete Makes perfect sense. Thank you Sure do enjoy your videos
may i ask if rebar is necessary as the driveway will have to take to load of heavy vehicle?
Its optional
I want to add a 2 x 20 foot strip to my driveway. Any advise on how if can be done with bag cement?
Sure no problem.
Maybe do it in two parts
I didn't see a sub base, was it not needed? I'm learning
no expansion type material needed between the old pad and new pour? I gotta do this and need to know thanks
No
Did you or how did you run power to the side for the Tesla?
The Tesla dealer was handling that
Rebar is not necessary here? When is it recommended/required? Thanks!
When someone wants to spend the money
LMAO @ a new Tesla owner, I wonder where that topsoil went. 😎
That looks like suuuuum gooooood black sandy dirt.
All the dirt around here is good
Is not it better to put 4-6 inches of gravel base before putting the concrete? I also did not see the use of a compact plate to harden the ground.
Can I ask David?, why u didn't use any steel re bar. I'm just curious.
Big rock and fiber
Idk if you ever done anything with the rain gutter and drian in the driveway. I would like to see tha video. Thanks
Awesome
Dave sounds like he had a few beers 🍻
OSS
@@OdellCompleteConcrete Odell Sippin' Suds?
If I don’t have enough dirt to level the ground, what can I use instead besides using more concrete?
Ground up concrete and asphalt
You didn't need to lay down base rock material or compact the ground or add rebar?
No we decided to go big time
Make Driveways great again!
MDGA
Interesting for my new hats
I did not see any rebar or wire mesh. Is that because you use a bigger stone in the concrete ?
Yes
do you need to get a permit for an addition like this? from your experience do most people get permits and play it safe or do they just hope for the best?
Ayoub Farid nah brother, always get a permit or at least contact the local government to see if one is needed. It can be more costly if they find out instead of you calling them. Some bastard neighbor could snitch on you as well, just play it safe.
@@neldel2873 thanks for the advice man
You don’t put no mesh or reinforcement bar to make it stronger ?
depends
I was thought you use rebar or mesh wire when working with cement
Watch more of my videos, especially the tear out
was this concreting done without the use of iron mesh?
yes
What was the price ticket on this dave just curious
1800
How long do you let it sit before you start to tooling the slab?
Right when Im finished with screeding
Nice and juicy concrete
Voluptuous and Thick concrete

How can they put a driveway extension up to the property line - what about easement offsets?
that only applies to structures
