First they brought Sonic’s scrapped design in Superstars and now they are bringing Shadow’s scrapped design in Sonic X Shadow Generations and these skins are obtainable by pre-ordering
The pre order bonuses and the deluxe edition are separate things because even after the game comes out you will most likely still be able to buy the deluxe edition but not the pre order stuff.
The deluxe addition gets you the terios skin for shadow and a bunch of other stuff. While the pre order gets you the sonic adventure skin for sonic and Dr Gerald Robotniks journal.
I wonder what's next?
Would we get a Silver game with Venice the Mink as an alt skin?

Since I learned of him I liked to imagine him as an alternate Shadow without alien DNA, but he could be even more useful: Shadow's earth hedgehog half to be split of his alien half, Eclipse the Darkling in such scenario, like "V" from DMC5

Would be cool if sega did use Terios in a future game as like sonics long lost brother or as an antagonistic created by egg man to fight sonic just like metal sonic. Theres still hope for him to make a debut as a good guy or bad guy in a future game.

I think it would be better to say he is a prototype Shadow. No way Gerald jumped straight from bio-lizard to final Shadow. There had to be a few failed attempts in between.

The old design looks as different from Sonic as his final design does.
It’s literally a major plot point. It’s not “left over” from the design or else they would have continued to redesign him to match the story.
Given that fans and casuals alike often called him evil Sonic, I think viewing Shadow as not looking like Sonic is clearly hindsight bias. He looks about as much like Sonic as Super Sonic does to the general audience.
Exactly what I'm saying I never understood why so many people say "oh but if you look at his beta design he looks way more like sonic so that plot point makes a lot more sense" like wtf are you talking about they look completely different

I’m fairly certain the landed on the final design and plot and did so with the mindset that his final design looked enough like Sonic. And they kept it this way in Sonic X and in Heroes and so on. It just looks like Sonic in some form. And again, fans back then thought he was evil Sonic and casuals to this day think it’s an evil Sonic. Only people familiar with the character are like “thEY lOoK nOThiNG aLiKe”
I think it's basically just about the hair(/spike?)do you guys. Sonic and Terios are indeed identical in that regard, but I can agree about the rest.

Nah... Less Iconic. Besides, I like that shadow's design is based off the super warrior from the Echidna's prophetic mural. Shadow looks like super sonic from Sonic Adventure DX, before they spiked up his hair more in later entries.
