That’s the reason of “The Dawn Is Your Enemy” existing. It’s made to creep out kids who stayed up late to watch AS or woke up too early for Cartoon Network.
I literally thought I made up number 5 as a kid. As soon as I saw that monkey, I had to cover my face till it ended. The thing is I wasn't even staying up late. The alarm woke me up and a creepy ass monkey was there to greet me. Lol.
Hands down the most terrifying shit I’ve had to watch on the channel lmao, worse than #2 imo especially if you watched it when it happened. I had the luck of catching both bumps as a kid

NUMBER 4!!! I remember falling asleep while watching adult swim as a kid, and waking up to #4 just playing on tv. Imagine waking up, dazed and confused and that is playing . It was fucking horrifying.

I assume the reason they do this is to scare away any children that might be watching since they aren't supposed to be watching it. However, it doesn't seem to work in practice and just makes the damage worse.
Potentially, but also, Adult Swim was an outlet for people to showcase their creativity, so it could be just a bunch of projects from freelance artists trying to make a name for themselves.
I think that was a thing but they did have a stoner fanbase as well an bet you they were trying to fuck with a lot people who were high af I’ve never done lsd or stuff like that but I did do salvia (which was scary) i vividly remember watching ghost hunters and having a terrible feeling in the pit of my stomach and strong fear like you wouldn’t believe and just frozen with my mouth open eyes wide I can’t even imagine watching this shit while high on that

One of the scariest bumps for me as a kid oddly enough was when they would play “Mandeer” by Asian Beats Culture for their 12AM lineups. One I remember fondly of was when I woke up to that damn song and they had an image of people with 50s outfits that had satellites for heads in black and white or in a yellowish filter. It scared the daylights out of me especially since my volume was up pretty significantly that night so I’m shaking to my bones. Great video btw!

There was a weird bumper that I remember scaring me at age 6.
It had a rat go into a meat grinder, which you'd see a vise start to spin, and then you'd immediately see the [adult swim] logo made out of rat meat (clay) squeeze out of the meat grinder, implying that the rat got ground up.

#3 always spooked me. I usually would fall asleep with cartoon network on, and then adult swim would switch on. I always hid under the covers when seeing this, and it kinda scares me to this day.

These remind me so much of the teasers for American Horror Story. The teaser itself had such a similar unsettling and unpredictable vibe. It was the best part of American Horror Story so to discover these bumps is such a disturbing nostalgic treat.

I can't remember if the first time I saw it was in the morning or later online, but the scariest bump I've seen from adult swim would have to be this one referencing the 144,000 Anointed Ones from the Book of Revelation in the Bible. The bump shows a demonic creature crawl onto screen and this big group of people dressed in white walking on the ground before it. I remember the bump didn't have music, but just creepy sounds.

I finally got to read #7. I remember seeing it when I used to stay up and watch Adult Swim, and not being able to read any of it except the last line. It was creepy, but it always annoyed me I couldn't catch the whole thing.

I remember watching CN at 11 but didn’t get any of these, but even as an adult now some of these are so creepy.
There was this bump I saw exactly ONCE as a kid, it had the numbers 6, 7, and 9 made outta foam. 6 was in this dark bricked dungeon and as it turned the corner it came across 7 eating 9, blood everywhere. I distinctly remember its sharp teeth and beady eyes staring right at the viewer. I dont remember the exact date it aired but maybe somewhere between 2005 or 2006. If anyone knows what I'm talking about please lmk. It feels like a messed up fever dream.

I'll never forget October 2013, freshman year of college with me and my friends in the basement of my dorm room zonked out of our mind on too much LSD when all of a sudden the #2 bump popped up out of nowhere. Some of us screamed, others were frozen in terror and when it was over we all kept asking if everybody saw that or if it was the acid. It would be another couple weeks before I saw it again sober and realized it was just an ad, but I'm so thankful an RA didn't come check and find six dudes in various stages of terror. 😭

The period of time I was watching AS on TV and actually seeing these bumps at night was the pool/black card and white text times. I kept up with the shows after that but would usually watch them on the computer and I haven't seen most of these. They are all so cool!
