@@helenamartinez3415 Yeah yeah, cause' domesticated, captivity-bred birds, some of whom have never set foot outside, know how to survive in the wild and navigate all the dangers, surely, and it definitely won't be a massive invasive species problem if we release any more domesticated birds into the wild.

That speaks volumes for pretty much ALL parrots.
I love caique parrots. They’re like puppy dogs stuffed into the little body of a parrot, so playful and so joyous.

I had never been a bird person, but I've seen so many videos lately that have changed my mind! I'm so happy she brought up bird rescuing. Because birds live so long, many out live their owners... it's tragic, really

In response to your question I will share a little story. I have shared it before, but this seems a perfect opportunity to share again.
While shopping one day several years ago .. I overheard the cashier at the deli counter say to the customer "Have a Good Day" .. I only heard the response as I was not actually looking in that direction .. The answer came back in a small weathered voice .. " Every day is a good day" ... I looked up to see a very old, fragile looking man who had made the response .. In that moment I was touched, moved and perspective changed.. And I have not forgotten it over all the years that have passed since. I think of it often in fact. It has been at least 30 years ago ... I will leave you with one final thought "if you think you have nothing to be grateful for ... check your pulse .." To everyone who reads this "Have a GOOD DAY" !

birds are surprisingly smart. way smarter than I ever realized they were. I guess I always thought it was surprising because their brains aren't really that big compared to the rest of their body. and because they don't have arms

Parrots of all kinds are the most loving, playful, adorable birds there are. Losing one is like losing a good friend or family member. They give so much love and companionship. I miss my Quaker parrot..29 years of love and joy.
How wonderful you love and care for him or her. And how wonderful he or she loves and cares for you. I wish all birds had such healthy and loving homes. I never once saw him or her in a cage. That tells me everything.

Caiques are absolutely amazing little parrots. Far as I'm concerned, top tier. Very affectionate, intelligent, playful, with the big plus of being able to entertain themselves if they have toys available. Some other birds are very needy, like Cockatoos, and if they don't get the attention they need can start plucking, etc.
Not very noisy either, whereas in contrast a Conure (great birds mind you) are very loud, frequently.
My Mom had a Caique like this one for many years, and was her best friend and companion.
You are so lucky to be blessed to have an amazing friend like that. Such a loving bird

No, the most loved parrots will always have at least one other bird of the same species to interact with. What you mentioned is literal animal abuse and should result in the human getting prison time.
He's my dream parrot. I love my Quaker and Cockatiel that I love with all of my heart, but I still fantasize about your breed...lol. Don't tell Stanley and Nina...lol.
Seriously, though your advice about rescuing them is awesome. People don't realize that having a parrot is like having a perpetual toddler. When people don't want to invest time in them, they abandon them or shut them in their cage. It breaks my heart.
It is so sad that even birds have great personalities, people don’t care about them and give them like prisoner life…. :(

Beautiful White Bellied Caique. I had an IRN or Indian Ringneck that loved playing fetch with his little plastic ball with a bell in it. And he was also one heck of a talker...!!! I have a Senegal Parrot now and a Black Capped Conure. I've been in the avian field now for the better part of 30yrs working "hands on" with everything from Budgies to Macaws and Warblers to Birds of Prey. Plus, i've owned my fair share of "fids" or birdie lingo for feathered kids/parrots. Caique's are great birds and they LOVE water...!!! They often like to roll around on there bellies a lot.

I got my quaker parrot named Morgan from a bird rescue he was 8 years old when I got him I've had him 6 years now he's kind of set in his ways doesn't do any tricks talks a little bit but not if you're in the room I wouldn't know what to do without him

I absolutely love parrots, cockatoos, cockatiels, all birds really. They're sentient beings just like we are. They understand love and loss, even more so than we give them credit for. Nature is amazing.

Just so you know it's YOU that makes the difference. The same bird with someone else might be a monster if it isn't shown this kind of affection. It's all about how you raised it, doesn't matter if you get a cat or dog at this point, they will endup being friends because you guys have the right attitude and ability to show the love that's needed to turn pets into loving wonderful animals.

I also have a rescued bird. I got him when he was only 6 months from a lady who rehabs birds. My bird is a pied cockatiel, and he is going on 25 yrs. old. This is the longest time I have owned an animal and he has been with me through thick and thin (My parent's deaths 18 and 19 yrs. ago and my illness') I don't think that I could have gotten through these years without my "Baby" (that is his name). My bird is smart, but he can no longer fly, and he had a tumor in his left eye. But he still eats and is still as spunky as ever. I also have two parakeets too.

I have a parrot too, in the mornings he'll wake up everyone by yelling "breakfast time", we have no use for an alarm clock, he'll also say "good girl" to my dog. He especially likes sitting on my shoulder while i work on my computer
