Series S is a great console for someone like me. I was a PC gamer in the 360/PS3 era. But then life happened and I couldn’t follow anything that came up last gen. Only games I played in last 10 years were GTA V and MGS5 Phantom Pain.
So, Gamepass has a LOT to keep me busy for at least an year. Great great Value!!
gamepass isnt as great as it seems up front when you consider you can buy game keys for next to nothing from resellers like g2a and actually get to own the games your spending money on. the outrageous pricing for proprietary storage, games, and online is enough to keep me on pc
@@rileyhance318 I come from a country where it’s hard to find 3rd party retailers selling legal copies of digital games. Consoles are still a luxury here. On the flip side, it’s the play station that doesn’t let you purchase digital games from anywhere else other than PS Store. Atleast Microsoft allows that.
PC is more powerful and versatile platform any given day. But the higher entry point, constant upgrade race, tedious and time consuming troubleshooting, micro stutters and lack of optimisation for PC from the developers side has lately kept me away from it.
For the price of Series S, you don’t even get a good everyday productivity laptop let alone gaming. In that context Series S is a better value for anyone on a tight budget. Try features like Quick Resume on an Xbox console and you’ll realise the “plug and play convenience” on a Console is heavily underrated.

I got one for Prime Day, open box with a three game bundle, along with the additional 20% off, it came out to $180.
My son's playing Minecraft on it as I write this. If you're on a budget, it's completely worth it.
Wtf that’s a good deal, I would of purchase it if I had knew about jt

News just in Starfield runs at 1440p 30fps on series s with only 1-2fps drops in the heaviest area in the game. This is seriously impressive for the series s
Runs great on my s as well
What about 1080p?
@@Platinum199 The game is locked at 30FPS on console. So, the difference will be minimal.

News in. Starfield is one of the worst games released recently.
The Series S is my first true Xbox console. It’s not really my first choice of playing games but it’s great as a side console for me. Still can’t get over how small this is
Same
I’ve had the original Xbox, an old Xbox 360, and a switch. The series S is perfect for me and is mad dope imo
PS5 & Series S
First Xbox console that gives me access to 4 generations of Xbox with gamepass. Too good to pass up especially for the refurbished price of £150
@@TJaeSpeaks Exactly
@@TJaeSpeaks A ps5 isn’t backwards capable up to 4 generations. A ps5 is only capable to one generation. An Xbox series S and X is capable from next gen games all the way to original Xbox games.
Only real con is the storage issue but not really an issue if you have external drive. Just transfer back and forth.
I'm planning on getting an xbox series s mostly because of the price and the fact that it is a next-gen console. I really want to play games such us jedi survivor, mortal kombat 1 and robocop rogue city all of which are not available on a last-gen console. Not only that but the game pass library of games looks really promising.
I'm glad you already got the heads up about the black upgraded version of Series S! 😊😊😊👍🏿👍🏿👍🏿
I have a series S with the expansion card. Its fantastic. I have a PC so I use it for old games and game pass. It's a fantastic value.

Great review!! I was planning on getting the 1 TB Xbox series S when it comes out or later on this year because they’re a lot of old games on Xbox I can’t play on my PS5
I just got a Series S 2 days ago. I love it, the only concern I have is how hot it gets. I'm willing to chalk that up to the games I play though. Open world/sandbox survival games are kinda demanding sometimes. But if the Series S makes Ark run without crashing (unlike my PS4 Pro) then it's A-OK in my book. Graphic snobs will always be dissatisfied, so their opinions are irrelevant. Know whats not irrelevant though? Saving 200 bucks.
Keep it in sleeping position it won't heat up
@@mrshameles8148yes, this is exactly what I do.
Ive had it since launch and I use it everyday while leaving it turned on most of the time and it never throttled or got hot
I got mine this Christmas and yes, it does get hot compared to previous ones. It's still cold however when compared to my PC. I think technology s a whole has gotten hotter but as long as you give it good air flow and it cools ok with no performance drop, you are good. Just keep the are around the fans clear and dust free
One thing I can say after owning it for 3 years now: very great machine for being the smallest console ever, VERY portable, Great low budget price, and if you have pair this console with a nice looking 1440p gaming monitor in your setup, you pretty much have your own ultimate gaming setup which i have and I absolutely love it! I got the 2TB Seagate expansion SSD as well and it’s amazing!
I just bought the same version and i was able to use my credits I was awarded for reaching a company milestone. So in my book I'm getting this console for free. And the console was very much needed as I had to replace my Xbox One S HDD with an SSD last weekend because it had failed. Thanks for the video. Subscribed and liked.
this is my first xbox. My previous game system was Nintendo back in 1989. You read that right. This system is amazing. I waited for years to throw down the money for a gaming system. Still, It's weird to wait hours for a game to download and i dont like that the console gets hot, but the games are amazing. Kids today are so spoiled!

Can’t you just buy the Xbox series S carbon black 2:30
@@-Cookie9 yes,you can just buy the black 1tb series s but not until September the first which isn't long to wait now.
Looking back, I might have been as satisfied with the Series S as i am with the series x. The only real thing I would have disliked is the 500gb hard drive.
You can always get an external one and format it
I enjoy the Series S, I had a PS4 before it and I wanted to try next gen but didn’t have a lot of money so I got the Series S. However now, I want to get a PS5 because they have the games, the PS5 will probably be my main console moving forward and I’ll use the Series S for gamepass
Don’t abuse your parents like that 😅
Never thought of it that way. The Series S slows down game development progress for developers as you can see with Baldur's gate 3, but it's purpose could be exactly what you plan to use it for.

HI Great Video, Where did you Purchase the Custom Controller ?? thanks
I see what you say about limitations as games grow but you've got to be realistic and it comes down to cost for more powerful hardware, only the hardcore gamers will buy the more expensive consoles,The psvr 2 won't sell very well with the cost of it,a ps5 pro or series x elite could cost 700 easy,it's not a great idea,if you want the best possible gaming experience then it's a high end pc and pay the price, for most people consoles have to be affordable and high end consoles won't sell as well at high prices.
this one's a little different, until some new phones hit the market I've been trying to fill out the empty space with things I find interesting, the Ally video did well! And I appreciate the support from all of you
hey man im on the lookout for a new gaming console for my younger brother and it will be his first ever gaming console. is the xbox series a s a good fit that would last for another 4 years atleast while also being able to run games like fortnite, apex and cod, and will it be a good fit for him considering he is 13 and only plans to game to chill and have fun with friends but wants to do it comfortably with no lag, Is the Xbox series s a good fit for all that/
series S is really amazing. i bought mine for 200 euros from ebay from a guy who used it only a couple of times. the small sise is really amazing. you can pack it up and bring everywhere and no matter how little space you have it fits everywhere and weighs absolutly nothing. paired up with game pass you basicly have unlimited games in amazing quality and almost no load times. i switched from xbox one to series S and it cut my load times from 1-2 minutes to 20-30 seconds on civ 6. only problem was after intense use it good too hot but an external 30 euro cooling fan off amazon fixed the problem instantly. the console is amazing for people who already build a big online library and or pair it with gamepass. downside low storage so you have to delete alot or buy an ssd. no cd intake so you cant buy and use hard copies and sometimes digital game costs 60 dollars but only 20 dollars used on ebay.
Christmas of 2021 me and my dad both got one and we love ours
I will finally pull the trigger in buying my first Xbox console mainly due to Hi-Fi Rush & Starfield.
I have a bunch of consoles, a high end PC and a Steam Deck, but the Series S I find is perfect in my living room. I really mainly use it for Netflix, Amazon Prime, UFC Fight Pass, etc. but also have a bunch of good indie games on it, so they're not massive file size wise, and play really well. I won't be bothering to play games like Starfield on it though, as I have an X and PC for that. Highly recommend the S though, especially for the price.
Why buy a console for streaming videos when you can do all that on a smart tv?
@@ParanormalExplorer Living room TV is a few years old, UFC Fight Pass doesn't work on it. Didn't buy it for streaming videos specifically, bought it to have a cheap console in the living room, but all the apps like Amazon and Netflix are far nicer to navigate on an Xbox than on a smart TV (in my experience)
The movies on microsoft store are in 4k?
I got my hands on one locally in my area for $70 it was only used a few times according to the seller I got it from and I can confirm this because I put new thermal paste on it because I never liked the thermal paste that comes on the console from the factory & it was super clean inside. even if I buy the memory expansion I will be a good bit under msrp.
If you have a normal job it’s perfect with game pass, highly recommend👍
Great video! Man where did you get this for $299?? I am in Canada also, it's $380 standard price...
It could be better, but I like how you can just put it in a backpack and take it wherever, it can fit anywhere too.
I still recommend watching the vid but for people who don't wanna watch the whole vid . The Xbox series s is a game pass power house it's not as powerful as the series x and you won't have 4k and ray tracing is limited to some games. But you will be able to play all the same games. I highly recommend if you're wanting to jump to the next generation of Xbox or if you're a playstation fan wanting to try the waters of what Xbox has the series s with (game pass optional) is a great first step into this generation. Bonus you can practically take it anywhere it is smaller than a laptop length wise depending on what kind you have
Thanks for the review! Buying tomorrow to play all the old cods 😂
That’s why I’m buying one too!! 😂
Legit got one for that 😂😂😂
COME TO THE DARK SIDE....
I feel left out, who's gonna buy for me😢
I'm thinking about pre ordering the new 1TB version coming September first, thoughts
I actually used the Series S as a PC for a little while before I got a laptop. Handy little device.
As a PC gamer, having a Series S is really nice. Being able to play a game on game pass on my PC, then boot it up on my Series S and continue with the same save file is great, instead of either lugging my pc to my tv or running a long HDMI.
I work on cruiselines and this is perfect for my travel up and down very portable.
Just picked up the Series s I already have a PS5 and so far im very happy with the series S so far
To your claim about LG C1 owners looking elsewhere- I have that TV and games rendered in 1080p or even 900p still look fantastic from couch distance. Also, that TV has VRR which makes lower frame rates a better experience than a locked 60hz TV. Cheers
My S series has a disc drive and 1 terabyte storage. I wanted the disc drive because I still have 360 games. I do use the seagate external storage device.
I have the series s. Used to have an original Xbox which was cool, and later an Xbox one which I later traded on a ps4. But that said the series s is a great little console. Got it during the shortages when it was about the only next gen console you could get. Wouldn’t mind a series x, but may go for ps5 later in the year.
The ps5 is nice. I just picked up the series s
I'm thinking about buying a Series S as a tertiary console.
I main PS5, Switch for exclusives and a mid tier laptop for stuff like Factorio, Oxygen Not Included and CRPG's.
Are these games:
Lamplighters league
State of Decay 2
Sunset Overdrive
Everwild TBA
Ori 1/2
Valheim
Starfield
Rare replay
The Gunk
Gears Tactics
Sea of Thieves
Any potential good future Arkane games (aka Dishonored 3 or something)
Potentially, the Indiana Jones game
Redfall...I know it's bad, but I love Arkane and just to say I've played it.
Worth buying one for? These are in order of interest with anything under Starfield mainly for just trying. Starfield also isn't my most anticipated game this year but I do like to give most big releases 20-40 hours if possible just because. (I would never buy a game here, so it's going to be entirely Gamepass based and I believe all or most of these are on that.
(I REALLY want to play Lamplighters League, State of Decay 2 and Sunset Overdrive, my laptop isn't suitable for those)
I have the Expendable money to buy one, I don't feel like it's worth it to buy a Series X though if it's not a main console (even though I don't get a bit picky when it comes to resolution and FPS, the main downsides to the Series S) and I could care less about the new Series S because I just don't install that much, plus I want the white console to go with PS5 and OLED Switch)
Any suggestions would be much appreciated 👍
Thought I was the only
One that only bought physical games for switch digital for PlayStation and series s 🔥
As a playstation gamer i bought a series s mainly for exclusives like Halo, Hi Fi Rush, Forza and Starfield. So far i really like it and its cheap so big win.
Where did you get for this price? I'm looking in Canada, but I can only find it more expensive on Amazon : (
With the insane size and cost of the PS5, I doubt I'll ever be interested in getting one, even if it does end up keeping the Final Fantasy games exclusive (which does kind of suck, since I love FF). Series S seems like by far the best option for next-gen games if/when there becomes a lot of them.
My only problem with it is that no current disc drive ability at all means that I can't take advantage of used game prices, which is a shame. That's a lot of money wasted on digital-only games that may be $50-60 cheaper used (unless we get some very nice sales). I guess there is game pass instead, but eh.
Worst thing about the PS5 for me is Sony’s greed. And ultimately it was what made me decide against buying a PS5 and going back to Xbox. 80$ a year just to be able to play online is an absolute joke. On Xbox it costs me half that, and you even get to play way more and better free games. I don’t play many games, but I do play a lot online and the yearly subscriptions do add up.
I'm really hoping to buy Xbox series S this coming Christmas. I really love this console, I think it's so underrated because of the PlayStation hype.
I already have a ps5, but I go out a lot and sometimes we stay somewhere for really long and its hard taking my ps5 with me, so I thought I could get the series S so when I go out maybe, I can actually take it with me without struggling. Any owners here think its a good idea?
As a owner of both x and s I highly recommend if you are going to be taking it with you anywhere it is a amazing choice as depending what kind of laptop you have the Xbox series s can be smaller length wise and as a whole it's a great choice to jump into the Xbox environment if you want to read my comment on this vid I gave a better example of my recommendation
Just bought the xbox series s with 1TB of storage for $340 on amazon 😊
I got one in December of last year and as someone who hasn't gamed since the n64 I think it's a good deal and I really enjoy it and I think you need to get game pass
I got a ps5 which I mostly use when I game which isn’t often but also got a s which I only bought just to play starfield
Got mines today along side my ps5 I’m mainly on ps but love game pass this does it for me
2 years ago I got the series s because the series X and ps5 had a shortage. I love my series s but ready to upgrade.
Im trying to decide between the series S or the series X. I mainly play Madden and all of my games are digital. I dont see the point of buying a series S and then spending $200 on memory when you can just buy the series X with more memory. I could just buy the series S and keep my xbox one and i have a 1tb memory card for my xbox one and just use the series S for madden and maybe a few more new gen games like elder ring or whatever. I still have a ton of xbox one games i need to play and beat from GTAV,RDR2,Witcher3,State of decay 2....etc. I was going to trade in my xbox one but i may just keep it and all the games i have on it,over 90+ and just use the series S for Madden and a few other games.
as someone whose had it since release year and loves the console, im just gonna say no. The black 1tb edition is gonna be coming soon and the #1 downside to the series s has to be its storage capacity (seriously it’s genuine pain). Even then I’d really urge everyone to just spend the bit extra on the xbox series X , it’s my only regret really but at the time the X was widely unavailable and scarce. For the price tho, the series s didn’t disappoint me but the xbox series x is just better bang for your buck for the better graphics, viable lifespan in terms of games being developed for it , and 1tb storage. Also in terms of graphics, My roommate had a series X and he’d game next to me and you could definitely see graphical differences. Although , for the price the series s does look astonishing on a 4k tv, this is considering you’ll be sitting farther away so naturally your eyes can’t discern the jagged edges and slightly blurrier textures.
bascially don’t get the S unless your a fairly causal gamer who:
- doesn’t care ab graphics
- doesn’t need that much storage / is willing to buy the external storage for $150
- uses a tv to game / sits further away from screen while gaming
- is looking for a cheap way to get into next gen gaming (just understand it comes with a cost, you’ll likey need to upgrade much sooner than you think)
- needs a small form factor console which is easily portable
Does anyone know why saved clips don't have mic audio recorded?
*My pc is currently in repair , so the series s has been fantastic!* Totally worth it for the price
As a PS5 player I bought the S for Flight Sim, and its been fantastic. Now with Starfield next month its well worth the price tag.
Do you think the series s is worth it for Starfield? I’m a ps5 gamer and I’m thinking on getting the series s just for starfield

I just got one as I have a newborn baby so sitting at my desk sweating FPS’s isn’t really my thing anymore. I’ve connected it to my living room TV and if he is asleep, I’ll play a bit to keep me busy. I have a 120hz 4k TV but couldn’t justify the price hike to the series X.
The only reason I want to upgrade from my xbox one s is so I can play the new games on gamepass such as starfield and forza motorsport
So I only want to get one game and it’s Mortal Kombat. My barely used Xbox One X was purchased during COVID and it just been sitting there.

Literally just brought one an hour ago. First game to install, flight sim. So have an approx 20 hours download time. Oh boy . Lol
I liked the series s, till I saw 900p in new AAA games. It’s just way too blurry for me. After I got used to 1440p and 4K I can’t even go back to 1080p.
Got one just for cyberpunk at playable fps
I mainly use the PS5, I want the S because I lowkey wanna feel the praised controller and I also wanna play Hi-Fi Rush, soo you guys think it’s a good buy?
opinion needed. I do not have a 4k tv, its 1080p. is there a MAJOR graphic difference between series x and series s? And are any of the consoles going away like are they gonna stop making games for them
If you do have a 4K TV then the S will be fine. However, if you do plan to get a 4K TV within a year then I wouldn't get the console. The Series S is rated to go up to 1440p (2K), but the Series X can go up to 2160p (4K). Also the Series X has a disc drive and 1TB of storage rather than the 512GB in the Series S. Microsoft isn't going to stop making games for the Series S, but it does handicap developers who are having many issues developing for it. Keep in mind that the console potential is to hit 1440p at 60 fps (although it go to 120) with ray tracing. Alot of games are only hitting 1080p at 30fps without ray tracing on the Series S.
Depends on whether you are a casual who doesn't give a lot of attention on screen. If that's the case, Series S is fine. Otherwise don't.
Should I get this console or the galaxy z fold 5
I want to buy one however I don’t want to loose my progress in ps4
i wish they'd release one with more ram. Give the lil guy an extra 2 gigs
I have series x and ps5 and gaming pc and in past i had xbox series S co i can really tell ITS VERY GOOD CONSOLE! good performance. If you are,, gamer,, some hours per week series S IS best buy... Or if you travel best choice
People need to set expectations right gpu is 1/3 of the performance of series x the series s is only upto 1440p if it can handle it game by game basis a lot of games will upscale if required from 720p/1080p to achieve 60fps this isn’t for high end graphics it’s budget system to enable people to play newer games not available on last gen hardware. If you want better visuals this is not the system for you if you just want to play the same games as everyone else regardless of visuals then it’s fine.
Here in ireland the series s is 300€ and the 1tb version is 350€ which is a really great deal
You can get the s for 230 at the moment with sales
While I like the design of the series S there are a couple of things that are worrying me:
The storage, and the only way to expand it is through the expansion cards that they provide which with it’s price will be near the series X if not in its price range. I understand that there’s a 1 TB version coming out on the first of September but maybe I like the white color more.
Second thing is its gpu, will this device could live up until the new generation or it could be stopped in the middle?
Series X masterpiece
Microsoft promised the series s wont left out bcs series s is considered as current gen like series x
@@devillovexxx I started considering the series S, but I am going to wait for the 1TB version

Well, I have on my SS 3 multi-player PvP games (Hunt Showdown, Insurgency Sandstorm, pre-installed The Texas Chain Saw Massacre), 2 AA/AAA games (Amnesia Rebirth, Gears of War 2 (old game, but still AAA)) and I have space enough to install Starfield. Even after Starfield instalation I'll have around 70 Gb of free space and I'm planning to spend it on Witcher 3 and a few indie games. And of course, all depends on games you want to play. If you want to install a lot of games which weigh +100Gb, 500 Gb SSD is not enough. I think SS will handle all current gen new games, some of them you'll be able to play only in 30 fps quality mode. But still. Personally for me the biggest advantage of this console is a price and its portability. I can fit it in my laptop bag with laptop and some clothes.
Can this be good for me!? I just want to play fifa and just some few games to keep me excited. Am not a huge gamer but just fifa fan
I’m a PlayStation guy. But with the news that Bethesda games like Starfield, Skyrim and fallout will only be supported by Xbox and PC. Do I buy a series a now (since I have the money now) and wait for the games or just wait completely. Maybe wait for the black Xbox series X?
Only downside IMO is storage, and that's not a big problem if you have fast net.
I have a 2tb external hard drive which I used on my xbox one for the longest time. Having recently got the series s, it's a good storage mule now which I don't mind. Transferring games before playing isn't all that stressful, usually takes around 10 to 15 minutes.
