Sounds like he trashed his voice due to the hard use he put it through in his younger days. He also no longer has the top F on the final "you can't go on anymoooooooooooooooooooore" like he did back in the day.
His voice might have been fatigued at this point, which is perhaps why he was using his lower register throughout his first two solo albums. Don't forget, though, this was also 1995 and no one was going to give anything a chance if they were singing in metal tenor registers. Could have been a combination of both... For the record, his voice today is stronger than ever. Check out the last Stryper album and the upcoming Sweet solo record.
Lol no these are totally different style songs,,and you would not sing this slower acoustic version same as original,,its acoustic and different,,it would not work,,i love this version always have ,,aint nothing wrong with his voice lol,,
