What is a DYAD in the FORCE? TROS Explained

  • The Star Wars sequel trilogy set up Rey and Kylo Ren as two force users linked by some mysterious bond that has FINALLY been explained to a certain extent in THE RISE OF SKYWALKER. Rey and Kylo form what is called a DYAD in the FORCE. Where the two are one in the eyes of the cosmic force. This bond also is so powerful that it has the power of LIFE itself. All Dyads can also communicate through space and time as we saw in THE LAST JEDI. I find this addition to LORE fascinating and hopefully something that is mined in a show or saga.

Thanks, Nick! ☯️ In addition to your thoughts, here's an excerpt from Wookieepedia: It was foretold in a prophecy that there would be a dyad in the Force, which had been unseen for generations by the time of the New Republic Era. The prophesized dyad was realized within Kylo Ren and Rey. Although they were enemies during the war between the First Order and the Resistance, Ren and Rey shared a unique bond that featured prominently in the lore of the Sith Eternal cultists.

I absolutely love the dynamic of kylo and rey. Constantly trying to fight each other, when they're actually the perfect team. Light and dark working side by side. One of the many reasons I love the praetorian guard fight and the entire sequel trilogy as a whole.

They're yin/yang in so many ways. Kylo easily gets pissed when around anyone else but is calm with Rey. Rey easily gets pissed when with Kylo but is calm with anyone else. They bring out the other's opposite aspect when clashing against each other, but both are balanced and enhanced when working together. Shame they killed off Ben though. I'd be interested to see the extent and capability of their dyad bond. After all, we saw them connect across space... but haven't seen them connect across time. And we've seen how one person can practically materialize over to the other person, so.. 🤔

What happens when one of the dyad dies? What happens when both the dyad dies? Are the dyads created because the force is balanced? are they created to balance the force?

That scene in the comics was about Anakin having a nightmare, showing what his worst fear was, having Palpatine manipulate his own conception, but there’s no truth or evidence to it. The authors even came out and said that Palpatine didn’t actually have anything to do with Anakins conception, it was just a nightmare, and he thought that was pretty clear in the comics. I think it’s because people take that one screenshot and spread it around, failing to include the context.

Bottom line she was able to tap into Kylo's training when he tried to delve into her mind in TFA. He was also weakened from killing Han and keeping himself alive through the force after Chewie shot him. Also, she'd spent years having to fight and defend herself. Not to mention learning she's a Palpatine.

Kylo/Ben is my favorite SW character and the connection between he and Rey is endlessly fascinating. I think he lives in her now, due to their Force Bond/being Force Dyads and the fact that healing someone means giving them some of your life force (or all of it, in the case of resurrecting them), and that's why she didn't seem sad about his death: he's still with her!
(Though I do wish there'd been a scene where she has a memorial for him or mourns him or something.)

I don’t know if this is appropriate for the video but I’m going ahead anyway especially since I just saw it a third time on Wednesday... of all the pros and cons , highs and lows this movie contains let alone the whole trilogy with all that has been said left and right and what gripes many have had no one can deny that Daisy Ridley and Adam Driver have had the best chemistry imaginable they have been both individually and together been the highlight of this trilogy. The prince and princess and darlings of Disney Star Wars. And I can not thank them enough for what they’ve contributed. I even donated to both the “Thankyou Adam Driver” and “ Thank you Daisy Ridley” campaigns from the gofundme site just the other day. But yes regardless how this movie turned out the dynamic Rey and Ben have and what these two remarkable actors have brought will make this trilogy immortal. It really is beauty and the beast in space. There’s even in article that I’ll post at the end of this comment. But yeah it’s still beauty and the beast, it’s still pride and prejudice, Romeo and Juliet and The Dark Crystal all in one. This really is a fairy tale as much as it is a drama with space ships. And for that it help me grew a newfound love for Star Wars and if one day we should have the knights of the old republic and we see Revan and Bastila and whoever portrays them it as close to the chemistry Adam and Daisy had. And on a closing note looking forward to see how their caters as actors grow overtime.

@@tsuyoi-hikari The thing is this is not how it looks or feels in The Rise of Skywalker, the way the movie plays out, the way its all executed does make Rey come across as the most powerful force user to many fans. And to you, YOU may see it as Rey was "getting help from all the Jedi Masters from the past."
But they're only voices calling out to her, it simply doesnt have the same impact as when Obi Wan called out to a young Luke (in ep4 ANH), to "let go" when he made that "one-in-a-million" shot blowing up the Death Star.
Alot of it has to do with Rey feeling like shes not quite apart of anything in this story, shes never gets to know Luke Skywalker, no other force ghosts had ever appeared to her throughout these movies. So just to hear VOICES of Jedi past calling out to Rey in her final battle, it just feels lazy and half-hearted to so many fans, FRUSTRATING even!
Cause to the passionate fans out there, they feel if these old Jedi Masters can call out to her, why not go all the way and appear as force ghosts all standing behind her in that final battle. This is the penultimate, FINAL ending of this epic saga, to have them all actually appear, Luke standing beside his father, who is beside Obi Wan, and Mace, Yoda, Adi Gaila, Kanan and so many more.
Thats like the moment in Avengers: Endgame, when if feels as though Cap was on his own, and then ALL the other Superheroes appear to back him up, and they're ALL "AVENGERS" and he says those awesome words before they all go to town.
THAT is how you play out your final battle, no one saying Star Wars has to be like the Avengers here; only saying that to actually see those past Jedi all appear, standing behind Rey as she crosses the two lightsabers and battles the Emperor, that would have been more fitting.

This explains a lot of the problems people have with Rey, being so strong in the force and all. It it explains her and Kylo's force connection well but didnt Snoke say that he was the one who bridged their minds together? Am I missing somithing???
Also her being strong in the force because she is a Dyad is more interesting then her being strong because she is the Emperor's grand child.

    • @NaomiTCOOKIES
      @NaomiTCOOKIES Před 4 lety +1

Personally, I believe Snoke was lying about that. He wanted to sow doubt within Rey and Ben towards each other - to create a fissure in the relationship they had developed. Hurt Rey where it hurts most and weaken her morale. I mean, what a troll. They're led to believe the Force connected them together for a reason (they're meant to stand together) and then here comes this old raisin claiming he did it. That would make both Rey and Ben doubt the fate the Force had in store for them. They believed it was for a greater calling. That it was meant to be. And then, like the villain he is, Snoke gaslights them. Watch Rey & Ben's expressions when Snoke says he bridged their minds. They both look crestfallen. It also doesn't make sense that Snoke bridged their minds if we add Palps in. For one, I don't think that's how the Force works. Two, he can bridge 2 specific minds from across the galaxy (and he has not met Rey yet) but cannot find Rey and can't understand/read the minds he connected (couldn't foresee Ben's betrayal)? And if it was Palpatine who did it (as Snoke), why wasn't he aware of their bond when he was the one who built the foundation of it? Nah, it was the Force who connected their minds. Actually, based on the concept of the dyad bond, I think they were connected when Rey was born. Think of it like a red string of fate. Your souls (or soul half in this case) are entwined from the moment of your existence. The bond only became apparent when the Force awakened within Rey in TFA in the interrogation scene. She just needed her dyad mate to awaken the force within her.

I could talk about the colors of the sequels forever... Yellow necklace, red beads and a blue lightsaber passing through the bond just blows my mind. In the first bond of IX Rey's background is purposefully blackened just so her white-in-black can contrast Kylo's black-in-white. In the second we see black Kylo physically passing into white room whereas Rey passes into the dark atmosphere of Kijimi. Noticing this kind of stuff throughout the sequels just makes them better with every viewing.

Thank you for saying that in the interrogation scene in tfa Kylo’s talking about the island that Luke’s on! Ever since tlj that’s exactly what I thought he was talking about in that scene. In my opinion, the interrogation scene is when kylo first realises they’re connected somehow. When he reads her mind he says “so lonely, so afraid to leave, at night desperate to sleep” all of which could be applied to him, and he notices this, which you can tell because of Adams amazing acting. He then says “picture an ocean. I see it, I see the island” and I 100% believe he’s talking about Ahch-To. Rey actually says in tlj that she’s seen the island in dreams before, and it’s possible ben has aswell. 1) because he said “I see it too” and they’re minds have always been connected so he might have dreamt about it and 2) because they are Dyads and them touching hands on the island is such an import moment for both of them and their relationship. Shit. As someone who's been living in denial about Ben's death for the last month or so...this kind of puts the final nail in the coffin. He really is actually gone. Like, GONE gone. Because in bringing Rey back from literal death, he gave her the other half of their soul. It's so obvious to me now that I actually know what a Force dyad is. THAT'S why he disappeared and then was not shown as a Force ghost. He's just...gone. God damn it. And here I was hoping they would later try and pull some crazy bullshit and bring him back. I loved Ben and Rey. They really made the trilogy for me. Hell, they made STAR WARS as a whole for me. As someone who didn't grow up watching the original trilogies, I have no great love for them, to be honest. Or rather, the nostalgia factor isn't there for me. This new trilogy changed my mind about all of it, though, and actually made me want to go back and rewatch the originals. And now...I find I appreciate them more. Yep, Reylo singlehandedly made me a Star Wars fan. Take that, haters. Take. That.

The infamous "Rule of Two" as created by the legendary Darth Bane, is solely to prevent the infighting of previous generations of Sith. There is to be only one Dark Lord, and only one apprentice. The Rule of Two is NOT being replaced by Disney and a Dyad in the Force, as they are completely irrelevant to each other.

What I don't get is why he would use the same finger lightning trick that backfired on him the last time he was killed.
