I wouldn't know, I never had friends, still don't. The only people who ever came to my birthday party were my parents and my siblings and they are all adults, of course, they just got me basic gives like clothes or old-style toys.
What? It's a birthday party? You're supposed to bring a gift? I don't have any idea on why this mom sent him to a birthday party without a gift and expected nobody to say anything. Not to mention, the fact that she sent him to steal all the food as well💀

I always told my kids to not expect a gift for their birthday parties from friends, that the best gift a friend can give is them being able to show up and share the fun. We never know what a family may be going through. Not to expect anything but to have joy that a friend showed up to play with and that we can all share a good time with food we provided. Still holds true to this day and they are now 17 and great kids.

Me too!! I would have to have a financial advisor because if I didn't I would go broke helping people. Just today I only have $27 dollars and ended up putting $17 dollars in my friends gas tank. It is payday but sometimes it's delayed and don't cone to the next day or day after (which I didn't get until an hour ago).
This just breaks my heart . It is just so sad not everyone is as lucky as others

I remember invinting a friend to my 12/13th bday party. He wasnt wealthy but neather poor, He wasn’t in the best relationship with his parenst, they probably didnt even knew he was invited so maybe there was a little neglet there. He was known to be the wild kid with no rules and guiadance, but he was really kind and sweet and a really good friend. He had wrapped me in a fast food bag and old stuffed animal that was probably his.. I tought it was the sweetest present ever! he gave what he could and that was more than enough! I also remember telling him I loved it but he still felt bad because everybody elses presents were so fancy and I wish he knew I truly appreciated him.
In the end from that party the only gift I remember is his!

Wow what a story, I can’t believe the husband would do his wife and child that way. She was blessed to have a good friend.
My son went to school with a boy who never ate lunch, so my son shared. When i found out, i made 2 lunches so both boys could eat. After school i saw the mom and dad and explained what i was doing. With tears in their eyes they both hugged me so hard i could barely breath.. i did ask if he had allergies..

I wish people were this nice in real life. I’m 15 and want to go to an architecture camp because that’s what I want to major in when I go to college and having it in my record could help me get accepted to college when I apply in a few years. But my mom already struggles financially because she has five children. So I know she can’t afford the $1,000 tuition. It would be nice if people were willing to help. A little bit goes a long way.

I feel like people forget this: gifts are a PRIVILEGE. People ARE NOT obligated to get you one.
Being invited to the birthday party is a privilege too. I get this situation but if it becomes a habit and the parents don't communicate then it's not fair to freeload of people either. I think the issue "Karen" had no one communicated with her the situation. She was mean though, which was unnecessary.
Don’t like anything for granted. Life is a great privilege in itself.
@@rina908she could of also pulled her to the side as well instead of assuming. Just like the nice lady talked to her like she was a person, Karen could have done the same as well. She assumed her and the husband were still together which they weren't. When she seen the car that was a clear indication something was off. She could have asked then but she didn't. Communication goes both ways here and with situations like that, nobody wants to put their business out like that.

If I get your child a gift every year. I expect the same in return for my child. The problem is the mom didn't communicate w/ the other adult/s. She didn't have to go into details. Every kid deserves gifts from whoever attends their birthday party. I been on both situations. We stayed home/made other plans or communicated. COMMUNICATION. COMMUNICATE PEOPLE.
However, that "blonde" lady was unnecessary rude. She could of expressed her feelings privately. I'm sure if the blonde lady knew the situation she would of had a different approach and helped as well. You cant fault people when you withholding information, obviously its going to look like you're purposely being rude or freeloading. And it obviously wasn't a one time thing..... I get both sides really. I don't see anything wrong with asking for the gift. It was her delivery that was rude and asking the kid and not JUST the mom.
In short, COMMUNICATE.& If you're not comfortable communicating with that PARTICULAR person, maybe you shouldn't be attending THEIR event. Simple.

The moral should be that there's nothing wrong with being in a bad situation and needing help. That Karen was more mouthy than she needed to be, but if the poor mother was desperate enough to have her kid secretly bag food from a party, then she can ask for help from a trusted friend (whom she had). Your pride isn't worth getting yourself into more trouble by lying to people and making promises you can't keep.
