I hope this will not be a Political statement. 6 aircraft carrier means more frigates, more destroyer and more submarines needed to form a battel group. Eventually TEDBF ke liye bhi achhi news ha. 6 aircraft carrier ke liye 150 TEDBF banana padega. We will be true blue water Neavy.
I don't think it's a political statement because the majority of the population don't care about military equipment.
More than 150 TEDBF will be needed. Who knows the displacement of upcoming aircraft carriers. They may be 120000 tons.
Well we will be atleast 20+ trillion dollars economy by 2047, so it's a very realistic scenerio. India will have all the capabilities and means to have navy that big. And its Navy, so I have full faith in them, more than IA and Army.
We can not operate 6 aircraft carriers at once before 2060 due to budget constraint and technological hardships

I would assume that 3 Aircraft Carrier Battle groups will be maintained, but if 6 Aircraft Carrier is being made then 3 will be active and 3 on reserve.. so that maintainence and overhaul doesn't compromise naval security..

Not surprising. It is inevitable considering future conflicts. Also primacy in Indian Ocean is necessary. I hope after theaterisation, Navy will get more resources to enlarge their fleet.
We have to plan for 2047 and for this, we will need 6 or even more Aircraft Carriers. So If RM said what he is reported to have said, he is not talking out of his hat!! It is a good news for India that our RM is focused on Armed Forces requirements and taking steps to equip them adequately.

What Matters is: The continuity in the construction in such a way that, the next generation gets all the knowledge and skills transferred from previous generation of Engineers, Designers, labour, And othe staff....
Because we can see how the ability to build incredible Rockets that can go to Moon has been lost and now being developed from scratch due to gap in knowledge transfer.

Now, for real , the TEDBF program is looking as crucial as the AMCA mk1 and mk2. Wow, 6 aircraft carriers, the issues in red sea showed us that we need physical presence to promote safe trading around the world. So along with cutting edge submarines, the IAC battle groups will make Bharat a strong Blue water Navy.

You have got it wrong. Rajnath Singh is talking about having 6 additional carriers. At most we can consider that 2 existing carriers will retire by that time which means Indian navy will look to induct in totem 6 flat deck carriers with smallest being 65k tonne INS Vishal and follow up carriers will be 80-100k tonne Nuclear powered super carriers as Indian economy breaches $10 trillion & Indian shipyards graduate to next level of technology in next 15-20 years time frame.
Like projects 75i or follow up orders for project 75 or deck based fighters for ins vikrant,it goes on

Govt and Navy need to allot funds for manufacturing of new Vikrant Class AC along with developmental studies and design for a 70k ton flat-top EMALS nuclear AC. At least we can see that particular 70k ton nuclear AC by 2035-38.
This will help us to perfect the design of 70k AC and go ahead with 2 more similar class AC by 2050-55.

Make in India and eco-system has drastically reduced our cost of production.
In cost of one Rafale we can buy three Tejas or may be two AMCA.
If we increase 2% of defence budget or our GDP increase to 5 trillion. We can make our defence more than 3 fronts.
With $3.5T economy if India can afford 2-3 ACs, then by the time India become $10T economy it will need and could also afford many ACs including the fighters and the accompanying armada.
Also, we have to understand that if we do not keep building ACs continuously then the acquired knowledge will fade away.
I think we are trying to make a mountain of a statement made by the Raksha mantri. Obviously he was not trying to justify the need in that statement. There are many things that go into working the future requirements - long term threat perception, our needs both in our region and strategy as a whole etc etc. So, it’s possible some futuristic needs have been discussed/projected at some brain storming done but as rightly noticed the time frame has not been made known. So let us feel happy that some such thoughts are being discussed at the centre to plan the defence needs in future.

If navy has 6+3=9 operational aircraft carriers, then we can hope to have 3 deployed at a given time. One each in east and west coast and one in IO.
So you have any idea of how much a aircraft carrier cost and you need complete ecosystem of freights, submarine, destroyers to accompany that so directly added 6+3 is way too much till 5-6 it is understandable but 9 is too much

We also need to develop two fixed Aircraft Carrier on Lakshadweep and Another on Andaman and Nicobar Islands. Where Airbase will be scattered in 4 different Islands. Like disperse your assets to save them from enemy attack

Believe me, even this is not enough if you consider the long term prospects of our nation. We will be needing much more than these 6 declared carrier battle group. Let's not forget that we are going towards the no. 1 population and among the top 3 economies. It makes sense to talk about an armed force that is at the top to support this. What we may lack in numbers should be addressed with better planning and management of available funds from now on.
As per my opinion -
Mod might considering modification of LHDs and making a aircraft operations possible just like juan carlos
Turkey uses that class of ships. And it is in the process of enlarging it to the size of 65,000 ton flat top.

Its not necessary that our 3rd, 4th aircraft carriers should be different than our existing ones. Number matters. If I had powers, I would have ordered a 3rd Carrier exactly similar to Vikrant. This way time and money both could have been saved. Jo bhi new design lana tha wo 4th career me le aate. Carrier building ship yard should not stop even for a single day.

It may seem unrealistic today but in next 20-25 years we will need 5 carrier groups...2 in Arabian Sea sector, 2 in IOR & 1 in Bay of Bengal Area...this is required for effective control of our surrounding seas & if required, to deploy 1-2 groups in middle-eastern sea routes to safeguard our trade routes...therefore we need to plan our carriers to deploy the needed vessels within the limited time & resources...IAC-2 should be similar to Vikrant with possibility of tech elements from Elizabeth Class...IAC-3 a larger 65000 ton conventionally powered CATOBAR...IAC-4, 65000 ton, nuclear powered CATOBAR either our own design or collaboration with France / UK...IAC-5 70000-80000 ton nuclear powered EMALS carrier

I think it will be 3 carriers and 5-6 Power projection vessels like Mistral or Juan carlos type. We cannot really afford 9 carrier fleet as of now, Also each carrier will need say at least 26 new planes, further trained officers and men, battle group like Destroyers, frigates, submarines to lead and recce the route, further fleet replenishment vessels, so we are looking for Carrier + 2-3 destroyers, 6 frigates, 2 replenishment vessels, etc.
I think for Mistral or Juan carlos type of Vessel, we should see if its possible to develop those into Drone carriers that can provide long range reconnaissance & strike. I would like Juan Carlos type of power projection vessel that can be used to fly & recover drones. That might be a good addition rather than just having Helicopters that are useful but they do not have long range capability or very high flying capability. So we might need HALE drones that can take off & land on carrier, be turbofan powered & would have ability to be on station for 24 hours.
Our government neglected Our Navy for a long time still the speed of modernization of Navy is very much slow

and if it is taking ACs number to 5-6 only i am disappointed then cuz our def budget by 2030 could be 180-200billion dollars and by 2040 it could be 460-520billion dollars and for to make just 2-3 more and you will retire 2 AC also it will make 3-4 AC by 2050 which is not a good number
