Nuclear propulsion has huge advantages over conventional propulsion. The EMALS, radars, and other electronics need a lot of power. Also, it would take much less time to take fuel for jets than the entire carrier. It saves a lot of valuable time during the war. So, to think that we don't require a nuclear aircraft career just because we have to return to shore for supplies and fuel for fighter jets is naive. The question is, do we want to move in future or just be stuck in the past?
EMALS is from stored energy in flywheels, which can be powered by nuclear or conventional

और अगर अभी भी IN 45,000 ton displacement category वाला carrier ही चाहती है तो मेरी राय तो होगी इसको flat-top ही रखा जाए जैसा फ्रांस का Charles de Gaulle class है

@@deniedchirst that's the problem of GOI. Each year, our defence budget to percentage of our GDP is going down and there is no any increase in defence budget. Atleast CAPEX budget should be doubled

Not really mrfa has a ton of competing lobbies french, American Russian. This one not much only 2 feasible countries France and maybe sk or Japan. Us is out of question because cost and "human rights abuse by India" Russia is busy in a war with the west in Ukraine, Britain might sell but not sure.
Easy to say..ship can be refueled. The amount of time taken and decision affected to steer the ship as per fuel requirements will compromise our ability a lot in the future.
The main attraction of nuclear propulsion is to use it for powering the EMALS launch system for rapid redeployment.

Apart from existing 2 India needs 2 more Aircraft carriers. 2 in East Coast, 1 in West Coast, 1 kept as backup.
India Navy needs 5 (75 ton) aircraft carrier 3 Helicopter Carrier 50 submarine &100+ antisubmarine AH-60 Helicopter
1. Instead of a bigger size and nuclear propulsion, India should go for Vikrant type carrier and scout for a couple of naval bases in Indian Ocean, say with Indonesia on the East and Male or Djibouti or like that on the west side. This will work out as a more cost effective solution. 2. As regards collaboration with France for joint development and advanced technology, that option must be explored and taken forward. We need support of Israel and France ( possibly Japan as well ) as defense technology partners who attach almost no obligations on us unlike USA or to some lesser extent, Russia, And we should surely shun Germany or such other countries.

Nuclear propulsion ka sabse bada fayeda hota h electricity generation jo ki EMALS system me use hoti h jise conventional engines ko bnane me bohat problems aati hai.
Jai Hind...Bharat Mata ki Jai...Sir...if we want to be the defacto or atleast the major power in IOR, we will need atleast 4-5 aircraft carriers by 2040-45...after refits Vikramaditya can serve till 2040...collaboration or Joint research agreements will take time, thereafter the actual production will also take time...therefore for IAC-2 we must proceed with enhanced Vikrant-class carrier immediately...for IAC-3 we must continue to work with a newer 65000-75000 tons catobar carrier with inputs from France or UK...IAC-4 can be similar to french PA-NG with nuclear propulsion...the best course of action will be that continue with Vikrant design for IAC-2...some critical technologies for IAC-3, conventionally powered bigger STOBAR/CATOBAR, can be borrowed from French & British designs... finally in IAC-4 we can have a nuclear powered CATOBAR carrier...we must not waste time or wait for technologies to mature or TOT to happen, go for what WE can do while incorporating newer tech on next aircraft carrier

If you ever used UPI don't forget to thank which govt. commercialized it and now India does 40% of the Global online transaction. If you are seeing freight corridor built or if you travel to tourist spots and go through newly developed tunnels or if you are refueling the vehicle and the price is under 100rs here in US or Europe or even your neighbor bangladesh or Pakistan have expensive gas that you all have. Or if you see india's stature being increased in international economic groups or if it's new infrastructure or airports or you travel in metros in their 2 cities or when you use apple or samsung products or if you drive a tata or mahindra or if you are traveling through vande bharat express. Or if it's UCC for all or CAA for the minority population of the adject countries or if you see oil and lithium which us produced in india or if you travel to other countries the respect you get when they greet you with Nameste and not Salam Walakum. When an average Indian starts a conversation with pride for it's nation or culture and being patriot or if you travel to planned cities like Dholara or if you take a water metro. This shows the important of having deep pockets to fuel our R and D. The French consistently tries to improve their efficiency, we instead of building a 65,000 tonnes settled with 40,000 tonnes, conventional powered ACC. Haven't pused for the procurement of Rafale M from France.
In the future, no country other than USA or China will be able to afford to develop truly modern technology completely on their own. If India wants to stay competitive, we have to look at collaborating on future defence R&D with other countries. This reduces the financial & technical risk, while ensuring a bigger market size. When it comes time to sell to other countries (i.e., those not involved in the original R&D), the buyer will be persuaded by the geopolitical weight not just of India, but also of our partners.
It's not as easy as putting a SSBN reactor in carrier. France has long history operating SSBN, but they faced lot of issues with Charles de Gaulle's reactor. There is a big learning curve for which the first step is to put money on the table. Is the Indian govt. willing to open it's purse strings?

India is investing in big ticket naval items whereas threat perception demands we invest in robust anti submarine capabilities. Just one submarine can paralyse the movement of an entire fleet as we saw in 1965 war when INS Vikrant was restricted to Mumbai port due to presence of Pakistani submarine. Indian military planners seem to be going for show and pomp instead of strategic planning based on threat perception.
Aircraft Carrier or Landing Helicopter Docks have their own Battle Groups.. includes destroyers, Fleet support vessels, frigates, Anti submarine warfare vessels, corvettes,submarines,etc.,
Are we sure that Indian Navy can maintain 3 carrier battle groups with limitted capability as of now? Considering the fact that most of foreign collaborative projects like P75i is still hanging like a towed vehicle with one chain..

Going for stobar again is a bad idea . Atleast they could modify the present design to catobar which will be a stepping stone for future. But here the decision makers put their pocket before such interest.

It's not just about deploying an aircraft carrier for offensive purposes; it's about maintaining sea dominance and protecting strategic locations. For instance, the USA sends its aircraft carriers to the Middle East to prevent further escalation of conflicts.
right now India does not intend to move to other seas for attacking purposes but in future Indian navy might have to enter South China Sea so we should have all options available to us on table.
