We went to see Luther Vandross at the Hammersmith Odean in the day and Di a was the support act . She sang this song and wow she was incredible! Had never heard of her before but what an amazingly blessed talent. Thankyou, what a blessing to have been there with two legends xx

In order to shield herself from ridicule, Carroll attempted to camouflage certain physical characteristics in an attempt to belie her heritage. She habitually straightened her thick, curly hair and created whatever illusion possible in order to present herself as 100 percent Caucasian like her mother.

@demonx6410: A, there is a lighting technique here and make up and B, she is of mixed heritage [ mother is white and father is black, father is American, mother is Scottish ] so she is light skinned anyway. Don't Be a Stranger is in Monochrome and she is light skinned in that too, although there isn't much definition with monochrome, besides why bring the subject of her skin colour up anyway, can't you watch something without thinking about race all the time.

dude what is wrong with you? shes half black half white and strong lighting will make her look pale, at least she did not get the treatment Mariah Carey is also half black got where all her early pre 95 music videos was filmed with monotone filters or had crazy fake 8mm film blurring because her psycho manager Tommy Mottola wanted to 'hide' her black side and make her look as racially ambiguous(thus more marketable) as possible.
