As a born and raised Skiptonian (and a bellringer as well) I can tell you that Holy Trinity church has a noted set of 8 bells, the heaviest is over 1120kg (2580 lb, {22 cwt 17 lb}) and are rung on Sunday morning to call the people to church. Yes, they also wake up the locals as well... Due to the present coronavirus restrictions, we can only ring 4 bells and as such you won't get the real effect of all the bells in harmony.
I've really enjoyed looking at "my" home town through something else's eyes. A novel experience for me

Wow! Loads of fascinating information I didn't know about there, and from a bellringer too! Thank you so much for sharing all that with us! The bells are lovely to hear - even if they can get quite loud for a quiet Sunday morning.
Thank you for watching, I'm really glad you enjoyed the video :)

I always like to come back to your videos, and especially Skipton which is close to my heart, simply, because my city and twinned with it, and that I created a stained glass window of the 2 coats of arms. Your new videos are successful! But allowed me to write you this, it was better before. Simply, without the voice-over, as a listener, from here in the North of France, we enjoy the benefits of your feelings, the sounds of the street, in short what you hear from your ears. Speechless. Congratulations anyway

Yes, Skipton is indeed a wonderful place to live but unfortunately the nicest places are within earshot of those awful bells. We had to move as the incessant blasts on Sundays and Tuesday evening practice time were ear splitting. Couldn’t sit in garden. Despite all windows being closed the noise is horrendous. It even rings in the night to wake you up ruining people’s sleep. As one market trader told me, the noise was like clashing dustbin lids. As of course the Sat weddings were another racket. If one walked around with a ghetto blaster I guess you would be had up for noise pollution. It invaded one’s peace for hours at a time.
A real shame as where were lived oversaw the castle, the woods & hills in a quiet little street near the town centre.
I was so sad to leave Skipton to a village 5 miles away where we have a Church that rings it’s lovely bell just to tell the time and not at night.
